Summary: No stars.. It really was too much of a waste
Review: This movie was really stupid. First of all, there are too many themes here which never get pursued...Jolie's relationship with her father, the overbearing officer in charge, Washington's wish to die...it all is rather left on the surface. The plot itself is senseless...you never feel a sense of coherence. The ending is very anticlimactic. I refuse to waste any more typing on this incredibly stupid movie.

Review: Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie team-up in the engrossing thriller "The Bone Collector". A quadriplegic crime scene specialist (Washington) enlists the aid of an able police rookie (Jolie) to examine crime sites to track down a potential serial killer. "The Bone Collector" is a surprising and often gripping thriller with a top-notch cast and sustaining suspense. Washington's and Jolie's strong performances and terrific onscreen chemistry actually drive this film. The supporting cast includes Queen Latifah, Luis Guzman, Michael Rooker and Ed O'Neill. The story is well-paced and offers some effective thrills. The suspense film is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen format. Its picture quality is truly excellent with bright colors. The clear 5.1 Dolby Digital sound delivers some effective surround effects. The DVD contains an audio commentary with director Phillip Noyce, theatrical trailers and a behind-the-scenes documentary. Due to its strong lead performances, "The Bone Collector" earns a "B-".

Review: This movie was very good. I thought that it had a very suspenseful story line and a story line that was easy to follow. It took a new approach to detective movies. Plus you just gotta love the all time wonderful Denzel Washington and Angelia Jolie.

Summary: Thank god I have a day time job and I am not a movie critic.
Review: I do have a day time job, I am not a movie critic, however, I watch movies in the evenings. In average, I buy 10 to 20 movies a month from this site, and write reviews for some of them. As far as I am concerned, this movie was my best buy for the month of March. I watched it alone on a Saturday night, and enjoyed all the 110 minutes of it. I think the best to way to enjoy this movie, is to buy or rent it without reading the critics, and not knowing anything about the movie. I never read the book, nor heard about it, but I was really surprised with the plot. The acting and the relationship between Mr. Washington and Ms. Jolie was unbelievable. The supporting cast was excellent. The picture quality, the DTS sound is awesome, and the DVD has a making of movie section. Overall, I really loved it, and watched it a second time with the Director's commentary. I would recommend it.

Summary: Intelligent but unrealistic
Review: The cast was well selected and the movie was fulfilling in many ways, except i couldn't see how they came to conclusions with the simplest of clues. Washington's character was one of intelligence while Jolie's was instinctively smart and brave. With a great supporting cast in showing how authorities get their job done, the movie gives great suspense and an impressive thrill. Angelina rocks and steals the spotlight with her charismatic performance. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy good acting and a good script.

Review: Good entertainment. Suspense from beginning to end. Sometimes is to obvious and even naive, specially when they find the pattern. Although the end is surprising, it is also below the expectations it generates.

Summary: It mutilated the book version!
Review: This film is another fine example how the film industry sacrifices content for cheap thrills.Let me first state, I really liked the book. When I read the text on the jacket, the story immediately appealed to me: a quadriplegic who once was a brilliant criminal investigator is now confined in his bed. He relies on the help of a female police officer to solve the case of a serial killer. The author Jeff Deaver does an excellent job at describing how excruciating the life of a quadriplegic is. His wish to make the "final transition" and end his life makes perfect sense. What keeps him interested for the moment is the case of a serial killer who leaves clues to the next victims on each crime scene. While the book give a lot of technical information about forensics, it definitely helps the story. It is thrilling to read how information is extracted from tiny pieces of matter and how each little piece of information finally paints the big picture which finally leads to a precise profile of the killer. All this is the backdrop for the relationship between the main character Lincoln Rhyme and the person he relies on examining the crime scenes, Amelia Sachs (name got changed in the movie). Both are people who had traumatic events which changed their lives (Rhyme's accident, Sachs' death of her father) and can therefore relate to each other. All this makes "The Bone Collector" an intelligent thriller which is fun to read. Now this good book gets turned into a movie and what do you get? A physically top fit Denzel Washington, pretending he has been lying in bed for four years, surrounded by a vast array of gizmos (wow, I would like to know who his health insurance is!) and getting an assistant who walks through abandoned, dusty and dimly lit industrial installations to discover dead bodies. At the end there is a Xmas party, Santa and Lincoln's sister show up and Lincoln and Amelia seem to have fallen in love. How corny can it get? My biggest complain is that the producer didn't seem to find it necessary to explain WHY the serial killer committed all this crimes. Not only that, the character who did it got changed from the one in the book! Needless to say the one in the film didn't make the slightest sense. The whole story in the book is leading to the final moment where more and more details about the killer get revealed. It's like a blurred picture coming slightly into focus. And when it's clear, you understand the entire plot. Nothing of that is in the film. The killer comes out of nowhere, his character properties and possible identity were never even mentioned. And when he explains his motives himself, they are pathetic at best. You immediately wonder why he didn't do Lincoln Rhyme in the first place and had to stage all this prior killings. Very illogical! I'm not sure why the ending got changed this way. It wouldn't have been difficult at all to put the real ending on film. This way the whole story got watered down and it is now another mindless serial-killer-thriller which a little bit of a heart warming love story. What a waste of a perfect opportunity! My recommendations 1. Read the book! 2. For much better thrillers watch "Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven"

Review: I hope nobody takes offense, but this isn't a movie for people who enjoy watching wrestling on TV and think quiz shows are intellectually stimulating. This is an amazing and intelligent movie about intelligent people for intelligent people in the guise of murder mystery. Highly Recommended. Don't miss Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" over the end credits. Never did a song fit a movie ending so well...

Summary: Ending Didn't Disappoint
Review: This DVD kept us all on the edge of our seats till the end. Some parts will make you jump. For a guy who can't move, Washington does a great job. So does John Voight's daughter. She's worth the price. Interesting DVD features as well.
