Summary: A movie with Angelina Jolie
Review: This is a brilliant movie with a wonderful cast. If you are an Angelina Jolie movie fan, you know that ANY movie with Angelina Jolie is worth watching, since she can act out any role wonderfully. Denzel Washington was at his best as always, but the public did not take this movie seriously, as told by other reviews and the stars given. This was a great cop/horror/fiction screenplay, that I believe, should have been given more credit than it was.

Summary: Another Run of the Mill Serial Killer Flick
Review: As if we hadn't seen enough sadistic serial killer flicks, The Bone Collector is now on the rental shelves. This cardboard cut-out movie is your typical long, drawn-out game of cat and mouse that culminates with a twisted, implausible motive to an overexaggerated psychopath who has taken way too many pains to leave way to many hints which the experts have figured out way too easy.

I have always been a big fan of Denzel Washington. From Glory to Malcom X and especially Devil in a Blue Dress he has never ceased to impress me. He does have some moments as this know-it-all parapalegic, and I understand that the fellow can only move his index finger, but for the most part his character of Lincoln Rhyme lacks depth and interest. Angelina Jolie on the other hand is brilliant as usual. The now-Oscar winner is perfect as the hard-boiled rookie who is (in yet another gross stretch of versimilitude) picked by Rhyme to work the crime scenes. Queen Latifah is surprisingly tolerable. And why the heck Ed O'Neil was cast is beyond me. He was funny as Al Bundy, but he is so pathetic as an detective that there wasn't even a smile on my face.

The thing that did impress me somewhat was the forensics aspect. Having taken two classes in investigation, I noticed how technical the knowledge was in this movie. Most of this comes from the Jeffrey Deaver book from which it is adapted, but Jeremy Iacone also had to know a good bit to script this. Still, when Jolie's character (Amelia Donaghy) moves one of the clues, then sits it back down and photographs it, I had to cringe. I think the French would call that tainted a la O.J.. Ouch. Still, as technically correct as this film was, it was equally improbable.

Deaver's book of the same title was lackluster at best, yet far better than the movie. Yet another of Iacone's intolerable offenses were his changes in the plot. For starters, there was no heat in the book between Officer Donaghy and Rhyme. But I suppose your typical Hollywood screenwriter knows that there has to be some sort of sparks flying for the masses to keep interested (as if the grisly images of tortured bodies weren't enough).

With a twisted plot, a less-than-terrifying villian, and one bloody disgusting image after another, this movie is your average run-of-the-mill serial killer flick. Silence of the Lambs and Seven were both brilliant, but I've seen them. Why not scrap this equation for movies and plug in some different numbers. Why? Because serial killers sell, and the average moviegoer is not bright enough to figure out he is watching the same movie with a different cast. Though it is almost worth the watch just to see Jolie's tough chick performance, I would recommend those serious movie fans pass this one up.

My verdict: Make it a dust collector on the rental shelves.

Summary: Pathetic Programmer masquerading as a movie
Review: This would have been good as a Showtime original, even a HBO Guilty Pleasure. It might even have worked as a syndicated series starring Carl Weathers and Heather Medway. Alas, it is a mega-budget Hollywood movie with name actors. The ending of this film is as cowardly and candy-ass as any film ever made, and the brilliant decision on director Noyce's part to have another actor who you think might be the killer masquerade as the killer in certain scenes makes it even more lame. Pathetic.

Summary: Ok for a good nap! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's
Review: This movie is so slow I actually feel asleep in theater watching this movie! Only watch it if you would like to take a catnap! it showed us everything in the trailers!

Summary: Not A Classic, but OK
Review: This film had some good performances, particularly Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, and for people like me who did not read the book, it was suspenseful and interesting, but I agree with many of the other reviewers about the ending. I did not remember seeing the killer earlier in the film, though my father, who watched it with us, claims to have remembered him. The killer's motive seemed absurd too. Still, I found Bone Collector to be watchable, and for fans of the genre, it is worth seeing. Ultimately it is no Silence of the Lambs, and you will not need to see this film more than once, though a second viewing might be in order if you really need to see if they show the killer earlier in the film.

Summary: Predictable, unrealistic, not worth the money
Review: This movie was incredibly predictable and typical Hollywood. Some of the gore thrown in to the movie seemed to be placed there to shock people so that they would stay awake. Instead it was just gross. For people who don't like much thought put into movies and pretty faces well then you'll love this movie. Otherwise it's not worth the money.

Summary: Like copycat, slience of the lambs etc.
Review: I enjoyed it, but some things were just too unbelievable. How on earth can Mr Denzal fathom out where the killer is based on the minimun of details ? What happened to the heavy-handed cop at the end ? Did Denzal eventually get off with his assistant ? It seemed obvious the killer would eventually meet up with Denzal or his assistent. and so on, and so on. I would rent it than buy it.

Summary: Could have been so much more
Review: Don't get me wrong, I do like this film and would have liked to give it 3 or 4 stars. The interaction between Washington & Jolie is wonderful to watch, Jolie in particular showing what she's capable of. The fact is, this film could have been amazing, unfortunatly it's merely an ok film. Which is a shame as Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie and Queen Latifah all provide excellent performances. My problem with the film stems from 3 things : 1. I figured out the who the killer was as soon as I saw the person on screen; 2. Michael Rooker's OTT performance as the Poilice Captain who's so steriotypically inept I'm amazed he can find his office every morning, let alone any criminals; and 3. The ending is so cliché and formulaic, it lets the film down...up to that point it tryed to be a bit different, messing with the conventional movie wisdom of the male/female roles in police thrillers, unfortunately it doesn't keep it up which is why it gets 2 stars, it could have been so much more.

Summary: SPLENDID
Review: THE BONE COLLECTOR WAS A SPLENDID MOVIE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT PUT DENZEL TO A CHALLENGE OF REALLY REVEALING TO HIS FANS HIS ACTING SKILLS WITH VERY LITTLE TO NO MOVING AT ALL HIS WAY OF BEING THERE WHEN HE WASN'T WAS ... I CAN'T FIND A WORD TO DESCRIBE THAT THOUGHT , BRAVO ,DENZEL,BRAVO! KEEP UP YOUR FANTASTIC WORK ..AND WE WILL KEEP SUPPORTING YOU...
