Summary: Man, how this movie could have been so much better
Review: I went to see this movie with VERY HIGH expectations but was very let down. The filmmakers had the atmosphere right, the story right, the surroundings right, the elements right, it was all right, the only problem is, they did nothing with these elements. The only good scene was at the tail end ...Great effects. Everything else was sooo slow. I really wanted to just love this movie, trust me, I did, but I am very let down.

Summary: Some scream, some laugh
Review: Fear is subjective. There's no point trying to convince someone that something is frightening; they feel it or they don't. The Ring gave me a good scare and I'm still spooked two days later. My wife, on the other hand, laughed throughout. Go figure. Oddly enough, we both thought the most successful scene in the film was the one on the ferry. Completely non-supernatural, also non sequitur.

(As an aside, to the viewer who blamed the director for not explaning the villain's malevolence: I think you're missing the point. The film gives us a very definite explanation...and then pulls the rug out from under us to make the point that some things simply aren't explained. The film would have been far less frightening if it had ended at the point where Rachel answers Noah's question by saying "seven days". In a horror film of this sort, the rules of narrative logic - which, I'll grant you, The Ring breaks at some points - do not extend to explaining the bad guy's motives.)

Summary: Spooky as hell.
Review: 'The Ring' is a breed of movie that is appearing more and more, relying on actual atmosphere and tension to deliver scares to the viewer, and it's refreshing to say the least. Movies such as this are redefining the horror genere to include films that are more thought provoking and dread inspiringly erie than those filled with shock, gore, and brainless teenage blade fodder. The best ghost story since Blair Witch, this film has a really cool bleached out look and excellent pacing. Just when you think you've got a bead on what's happening the filmmakers throw you a few wicked curves. A fun ride with head, heart, and plenty of gooseflesh.

Summary: A creepy mystery with an answer that chills.
Review: The Ring revolves around a video that, after you watch it, kills you seven days later, a victim's heart just stops. When the niece of a Seattle reporter falls victim to the tape, she (the reporter) tracks the tape down and, much to her regret, watches it. She now has seven days to solve the mystery of the cursed video and undue its power. The Ring is a remake of the far, far more terrifying Japanese thriller Ringu, but watered down or not, The Ring delivers enough chills to warrant a viewing. Recommended.

Summary: It's never been so quiet at the end...
Review: A very good suspense, worth paying the general price to see at night. Don't go alone, this is something you should share. Truthfully, I've never walked out of a theatre with everyone so quiet, like they finished the kindergarden trip to the morgue. I'll spare any actual details of the movie because you should see it for yourself. The plot was very well written; beginning, middle, an excellent ending (not anti-climatical). Go see it.
Before you die, you see the ring.

Summary: the scariest movie i've seen
Review: i'm only 13, and your thinking i rated this the "scariest" movie because i've probably only seen a few scary movies in my life. well your wrong. i've seen a good deal of scary movies in my life, and this is definetly at the top of my list. Before seeing this movie, the scariest movie i've seen was probably the shining. It is difficult to rate scary movies to one another because each movie has different characteristics to making itself scary. This was definetly the perfect scary movie for me. it wastes no time in getting to the scary moments. from the first scene, i was prepared to use my jacket as a blanket. One of the ways that makes it so bone chilling is its "screechy" sound affects and its "pop-out-in front of you" thrills. it also has a great plot. at the beginning, every thing happened within a split second when the first person dies. i had no clue what happened, but it is so intelligent the way the prducers scripted this to explain it. the same goes for the tape the people watch. the tape makes absolutely NO sense what so ever. but as the movie goes on, the movie actually explains itself as the main characters in the movie research the tape. i would definetly reccomend this movie to anyone with a strong stomach. but be careful. i thought i could handle it because it was rated pg-13, but i was deceived by its rating and wasnt able to get to sleep the night after i saw this incredibly thrilling movie.

Summary: A Winning Ring!
Review: I'm not a big horror film buff but I do enjoy the occassional horror film that has a great story and does lots of scaring without tons of blood and guts. And, I have to admit I enjoy some of the horror films that poke fun at the genre like the "Scream" triology. This film is a very good film based on a Japanese film, with an eery story that builds slowly (the slow pace works in this films favor) but pays off in the end. Naomi Watts does a great job as Rachel, a journalist that works hard to get a story but fails to see that she is neglecting her son emotionally. When her niece dies mysteriously, her sister asks her to look into the death because she can't comprehend how a 16 year old girl can just die so suddenly of a heart attack. What she finds is a mysterious tape that, after being watched, is the death knell of the person viewing it. I won't go any further about the story but there is enough beyond that to keep you interested for the entire time you are in the theater. If you want a good scare, go see this film. It does not disappoint. A must have on dvd, as far as I'm concerned!

Summary: PLEASE GO SEE THIS SCARY MOVIE!
Review: This movie is the scariest movie I have ever seen!! If you try to get too bogged down in the plot and all the little nit-picky details then you won't like it (realize that the premise here is SUPERNATURAL and that turns some movie watchers off). Just sit back and enjoy the story that is presented and it will scare the pants off of you! It is a lot of fun trying to figure this movie out and you will be on the edge of your seat! I am not going to go into plot detail because you can read that elsewhere--I just want to say that I am a pretty picky movie watcher and I love the way this movie was put together and acted. You will not be disappointed I PROMISE!! Thanks for reading!!

Summary: Poor B Movie
Review: We were very dissapointed with this film, after all of the hype on TV I expected something very different. To compare this film with "The Sixth Sense" as they did in the ad's on TV is a joke. I would wait till this came out on "Betamax" to see it.
