Summary: DOWNRIGHT CREEPY!
Review: I've often said, I like my scary movies to be acted by actors who take the plot seriously. In other words, no dopey humor. I thought this might be another one of those but I was pleasantly wrong! This has all the ingredients for a good scare: moodiness, rain, good old fashioned creepiness and more. Fans of ghost movies may recognize a bit of "The Changling" here. But "The Ring" is different enough from that to be its own movie. There's an upsetting part dealing with a horse too. I just consoled myself by realizing animals are not allowed to be hurt making film. Anyway, watch this in the dark!

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: Many reviews say this movie is bad and not as good as the Japanese version, I think they are totally wrong! This movie had a terrific plot which made you think. It had many thrills and (what I liked about it) when you thought it was over, it started up again. The story line basically goes like this: A reporter is asked by her sister to investigate her nieces death. After finding photos of her nieces trip to a cabin, she goes there and discovers a tape. Without thought, she watches it, putting herself at risk. Now, instead of just researching it to find a reason for her nieces death, she must discover a way to overcome the tape before her, her son, and her "boyfriend" (the relationship between the two characters was not clearly told) die. The problem is, she only has seven days to do it. This movie scared me; which is hard to do because movies almost never scare me. The thing that is most appealing about this film is that to understand it you must think, which is something most horrer films dont make you do. Anybody who is ready to be scared and have a fear of watching video tapes should definitly SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

Summary: Reaching for The Broken "Ring"
Review: When The Ring made its theatrical run in late 2002, I remember a lot of people proclaimed that the film was the scariest movie since The Exorcist, or the original Halloween. Always skeptical of most hype that surrounds recent "hit" films, I went to see The Ring for myself, ready for anything while still trying to keep my expectations in check. Let's just say the film is yet another overblown recent example of a movie that tries to draw you in. But in the end, it fails and is instead all for show. Based in part on a 1998 Japanese film, called Ringu, (which in turn is based upon author Koji Suzuki's popular novel) this American version doesn't even come close to matching the suspense of those other horror films I mentioned earlier. While I have never read the translated novel, nor have I seen Ringu, I'll bet both turned out much better than this did. Following the death of a family member reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts), investigates claims that the tragedy happened after she watched a mysterious video tape. As Rachel begins to follow every lead, she soon discovers that those far fetched sounding claims may be true. When It comes to scary movies, I can suspend my disbelief for almost anything, as long as it meets two basic criteria. First, the film has to be...SCARY, The Ring is definately NOT. I was bored by the time the first hour had ended and I even looked at my watch several times by then. Second, even if the film fails to jolt, I can still find some good in it, as long as it has humor or good characters to root for. The film had none of that stuff either. Director Gore Verbinsk tries to think the audience wont notice any of the film's problems by putting in quick cuts of odd visual tricks and a bit of gore. The problem with doing that here, is the fact the movie needs better structure. As we reach the climax of the movie, it's so bad, you don't really care what happens anymore After making such a splash at the box office I would have thought the DVD would be loaded with extras (can you say double dip Mega Edition later on). I was kind of hoping I may get some further insight, in case I was being too critical of the film. Instead, all I got for my trouble was a 15 minute feturette, under the section called "Don't Watch This" This is nothing more than an Electronic Press Kit style fluff feature. Hey here's a novel idea, let's include theatrical trailers for other films, but not for the film we bought or rented. Rounding out the extras is a hidden "easter egg" for you to find. Too little too late.

Summary: The creepiest movie I've seen in a long time
Review: I want to start this review with a disclaimer that I have not seen the original Japanese version of the Ring, but intend to rent it asap.
However, with that in mind, I must say this goes into the list of scariest movies I have seen. I cannot believe it was PG-13 and really did not expect it to live up to its hype.
I would put this on a par with Brian Depalma's Hitchcockian ode "Sisters", "Jacobs Ladder" or the more recent "Stir of Echoes" all of which are far more frightening than any slasher film.
I thought this film made quite a psychological impact, and though
it is incoherent in parts, it still makes a lasting impression. I will be reviewing the actual Japanese version when I view it, so stay tuned.

Summary: Childhood Flashback
Review: Many people bash this movie unjustly. It might be a little thin on the over all plot, but what scary movie isn't? This movie is best described as your childhood nightmares, or campfire story's, set to a cinimatic screen perfectly. I have never before visualy seen on screen the same type of effects I see in my head when watching a scary movie compared to reading a scary book.
Most "scary" movies should be filed under the comedy section in my opinion. But this one is aptly named a horror flick. It has a subliminal fright that just can't be explained. If you missed it in the theaters, I'm sorry. A home system just can't duplicate watching it on the "big screen". But it is a good movie either way.

Summary: defines creepy
Review: this is the first movie i have seen in years that i could truly call creepy, if not frightening. it messes with your mind. the implications of things is so far superior to your typical special effects hollywood horror film that many peope need to name something as horror. this film is not for everyone. if you don't like to think, to have your mind toyed with, it is not for you. get a spoon fed special effects movie that spells things out for you. but, if you have an active mind, i guess the type that reads, you will probably enjoy this.
i have not seen the japanese version yet, but am anxious to see it. being a fan of japanese cinema, and its methods, i expect to be just as creeped out.

Summary: A cleverly done horror film
Review: ... the movie is a masterpiece touching up on all the classic and newage horror tricks. not to give anything away, but honestly how many movies do we see where someone emerges form the t.v. come on!! that is classic and you know it. the characters are well played by well groomed and suttle actors. I was surprised to see that the movie is shockingly played down by very what seemed to be laid back acting It makes for a good balance I beleive. the story line well, youll have to figure that one out on your own. Im not really sure if any body knows axactly what is going on. you have to create your own point of view, which to me makes for a good movie in itself when the audience truly has to think.See it!

Summary: My brain hurts!
Review: This movie is SO confusing. I understand every little bit of it until the very last scene. Please, if you can help me to understand the ending, e-mail me. Other than that, it did offer a few good scares. Nothing I'm gonna lose sleep over, unfortunatley. It didn't live up to the great reputation my friend gave it, but I wasn't disappointed. The imagery is a little weird. This is one that messes with your head. It's along the same lines as 'Silence Of The Lambs'. I'll probably rent 'Ringu' pretty soon just to see if it's better. Mayhap.

Summary: The Ring is more scarier than exorcist
Review: You know.. I just thought that the "Exorcist" is the most scariest horror film ever made until I watched "The Ring" hollywood version in the big screen at first I thought It wasn't that sacry until it goes to the middle of the story, I was feeling nervous that time.. so the ending of the story comes that Samara comes out from the T.V. and I couldn't look at it and so the story ends I go home sleep at night, and I said to myself why coudn't sleep.. I think it's because of the ending of the story....

Summary: DISTURBING
Review: This movie can be either really bad, or the best movie you have ever seen. If you hate complicated plots, this isn't for you. It has one of the most disturbing and scary stories i've seen in horror movies in a long time. I definetly recommend it to anyone that likes a good scary movie.
