Summary: PLEASE do NOT read reviews. It is much better to............
Review: go into this film with absolutely NO knowledge of the plot, and if you must know some of the plot, only know the smallest portion of plot details. Knowing there is a surprise ending will take away from the rest of the film as you try to study the characters and plot lines. Here is all you need to know: five crooks team up to pull off a heist. The rest should be left for your mind to filter as you watch this film. You will not be let down. ENJOY!

Summary: Kaiser rules!
Review: This is the movie the made Kevin Spacey one of my all time favorite actors. It reminds me of old film noir and it kept me guessing until the end. I LOVE it! A must have on DVD so that I can see extra footage and behind the scenes. I won't give plot as it would ruin the wonderful build up this film provides. Violent, definately NOT for children under 15 in my opinion.

Summary: Modern Classic Gets A Re-Vamped DVD
Review: Yes, I hate the fact studios re-package their DVDs and label them "special," platinum," or "director's" versions thus making DVD junkies shell out more bread. This is a fact the director and actors aknowledge on one of the great new documentaries on this DVD as well. However, Usual Suspects is a film that deserves the "special" treatment. Excellent commentary by editor and composer John Ottoman and a seperate commentary w/ director Singer and Writer McQuarrie--who were highschool friends and give a truly entertaining look at the movie that launched their careers. So yes, stop complaining and just buy the friggin' DVD. It's worth it.

Summary: how do you shoot the devil? what if you miss?
Review: 1995 didn't have a lot of great movies, but it did have The Usual Suspects and that makes up for a lot. Brilliant acting combined with a stellar original script, with a convoluted twisted ending that you can not guess is coming, this movie has it all.

Kevin Spacey is a true standout as the wimpy weak guy caught and interrogated to answer "who is Keyser Sose?" Keyser Sose is apparently the ringleader in crime, who doesn't care about his accomplices -- they are with him more to survive than to help, because to cross him is to die. The story is told in flashback as Spacey illustrates the crime for the questioning authorities.

It's violent stuff, but it is a captivating film. You will not believe your eyes and ears when the final credits start to roll.

Summary: too complex for comfort
Review: granted, this movie has a very clever ending. yet the other 90% of it simply left me scratching my head. not that i can never think while watching a movie, but a movie this convoluted needs a map or something.

Summary: More than what you watch. Definitively a 5-star movie
Review: This is one of my favorites movies. At the end of the film you'll realize that the performance of the actors is beyond what you were watching in the screen.

Like in a novel, you would try to find out the guilty one (who is and where he is), but indeed there is much more to find and to see in the story. The scenes of violence that you watch in the trailer don't mean that's what the movie is all about. Not at all. This movie does not depend on special effects or the like to have you enjoying it in your seat. I highly recommend it.

Summary: "Hand me the keys, you [expletives deleted]."
Review: If you've seen the movie, you know what they say. Unfortunately, it's the funniest line in *The Usual Suspects* -- or lines, I should say: it's repeated by each of our five criminal "heroes" at a lineup engineered by . . . ah, but you gotta see the movie to find out. This lineup scene is a microcosm of the movie's main strength, which is the excellent delineation of the characters in the script. The actors meet the challenge head-on, especially then-unknown Benicio Del Toro, who takes the weakest role on the page and makes it a showcase for a hilarious stunt performance in which he's scarcely comprehensible. Just as each actor delivers the profane line with individuated degrees of detachment, irony, disgust, or exaggeration, so it goes for each performance as a whole. And the other actors in this large ensemble (Chazz Palminteri and Pete Postlethwaite, most notably) are also strikingly unique. Too bad all the great acting is in service of a storyline that, as it develops, starts making less sense than Del Toro's diction. The unnecessary complexities in the plot are mostly red herrings designed merely to confuse. (It's not always clear which city these guys are in, for instance.) And then the screenwriter throws in an unseen, God-like, "legendary" (prove?) super-criminal with the comical name of "Keyser Soze", who gets more and more unbelievable the closer we get to him. As a result, the movie starts to seem more like an adaptation of a comic book rather than a legitimate crime film. And while the famous ending is somewhat clever, it also places the entire movie firmly in the "it-was-all-just-a-dream" category. Well, at least young director Brian Singer showed precocious talent: *The Usual Suspects* cost a mere $4 million to make but looks like it cost 10-times that figure. It's nice to see a director make the most of meager resources.

Summary: Reminds me of "Primal Fear"
Review: This movie is so great... so powerful and with high suspense.

Kevin Spacey is a great actor as always. And I say all actors and the director did a great job especially with the amazing score.

This movie reminds me of "Primal Fear". I'd recommend you watch both movies because they're both so powerful and with a surprisingly extreme twist at the end.

Summary: The Usual Suspects DVD
Review: The Usual Suspects is an amazing, action-packed psychological drama/thriller type movie that will definately leave you guessing till the end! Amazing direction by Bryan Singer, great script with an OUTSTANDING ensemble cast including the amazingly talented Gabriel Byrne (the sexiest man alive), the brilliant Kevin Spacey and Kevin Pollack, possibly the most hilarious man alive. The DVD offers great features such as a number of cast and crew interviews, featurettes, and a gag roll, and lots of behind the scenes footage and deleted scenes. Not too mention, i find that the visuals of the DVD are FAR better than any VHS, it's a lot brighter and easier to see everything. All in all, this is a great, great cult classic for any movie freak. If you haven't seen this, you aren't a movie fanatic!!!

Summary: An All-Around Incredible Film
Review: Wow!...That was my feeling after the first viewing of "The Usual Suspects". The entire movie is non-stop action. Between all the bomb explosions, interigation scenes, and intense situations lies a great plot. Then comes the end of the movie. The point where this goes from being a four star action film to one of the best movies i have ever seen. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you must see this film. It's definitely not your usual movie.
