Summary: The best movie I've seen in ages
Review: If all you know of Jennifer Lopez is what you've seen and read in the tabloids and movie magazines, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this movie. Ms. Lopez has talent. I had only seen her in The Wedding Planner, where she was cute and appealing, but in Angel Eyes, she shines. I watched the movie twice the night it came on TNT (it was a double play), taped it, watched it every night that week, and finally ordered it.
Ms. Lopez portrays Sharon Pogue, a tough, yet vulnerable Chicago cop who is shunned by her family, despised by the criminals she tries to help, and hit on by her fellow officers.
Jim Caviezel is compelling as Catch, a man traumatized by an incident he can't remember, yet he has a sense of humor, and a warmth that has been missing from Sharon's life. Together they give each other the strength to face the future.
Shirley Knight is excellent, too, as the mystery woman in Catch's life, who holds the key to his past, but is patient enough to give him time to remember.
I promise you this movie will keep you spellbound until the very end, and then send you running to the video store for more of Jennifer and Jim.

Summary: Too bad she won't get better roles like this...
Review: Well if you know, Ms. Lopez's career and her sometimes crazy ways at doing movies, music, and her own personal life, as well as the fact that she recently appeared in a movie so terrible that the film company pulled it from theaters only a few weeks after release. However largely before all this happened, she did the movie "Angel Eyes", which is actually not a half bad movie, in fact the performancers by her and her cast mates in the movie are pretty effective. It is actually a love story and is not a supernautral movie as the title suggests. Two people meet, they fall in love, they over come the odds, and actually walk off into the sunset together. End story.

Summary: Jennifer's Best Performance Yet
Review: This movie was a big stretch for Pop Singer Jennifer Lopez. When I first saw her in Selena, I thought she was okay. but after seeing her in the flop Anaconda and the sappy romatic comedy The Wedding Planner, I thought I was going to puke. However, Angel Eyes is a different story. They mix in the romance with real life and the problems that come with it. The cinematography is great! And the chemistry between her and Jim Cavziel is wonderful. The soundtrack is also good - I would reccomend it to all music-lovers. Angel Eyes may not go down as an instant classic, but it is a display of Jennifer Lopez's best work and it's a huge shock for anyone who thinks she has no talent as an actress.

Summary: A surprisingly good movie
Review: Angel Eyes is a very good movie with excellent performances by its two stars. Chicago cop Sharon Pogue is on a routine arrest when it goes bad. A mysterious stranger saves her life when the suspect pulls a gun and starts firing. Soon, she gets to know Catch, the stranger, but there is something missing. No matter what she says or does, Catch will reveal little to nothing about himself. The relationship becomes more involved, but all the while he remains a mystery to her. I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought I would. The story of two individuals fighting demons from their past is very well done, and very believable. While some trailers and previews made it out to be something about the supernatural, it is something very different, but is still a very good movie.

Jennifer Lopez is very good as Chicago cop, Sharon Pogue, who is struggling with her relationship with her family. This movie shows that she can act for those people who think she can't. I have yet to see a movie with Jim Caviezel that I didn't like. He turns in another good performance as the reserved, mysterious stranger Catch who is also battling demons from his past. Together Lopez and Caviezel are very good together with obvious chemistry. The DVD offers widescreen presentation and commentary by the director. Angel Eyes may be different from what it was made out to be, but it is still a surprisingly good movie and well worth a watch. Check out Angel Eyes!

Summary: Not what I expected, and I was happy about that!
Review: I expected to see the usual cop-action type movie, and the "twist" being that it was j.lo as the cop. I was way off base, thankfully.

It was instead a movie of compelling subtlety, superbly acted. I found myself drawn in as it unfolded, in a way I am usually not. This movie is NOT just a chick flick. Buy it, rent it, whatever, but watch it, and you will agree.

Review: Luis Mandoki is a great director judging from this. Jennifer Lopez is an underrated gem in a world of actresses who don't act but just prance around in skimpy outfits and she looks good while she acts. James Caviezel love him or hate him is a great actor. This story was touching. The movie is very memorable for all the right reasons.

Summary: Great Acting!
Review: Angel Eyes is actually a very excellent movie. Though I've only seen it twice ( both times on HBO when the cable company goofed up J). It's the type of movie with no action but allows you to care for the characters. I rarely like movies without some hint of action but this one got underneath the skin. Others have already given the rundown of the movie so I won't bore you there but the acting is very excellent. The guy ( High Crimes and Frequency) is very talented at the dumbfounded I-Don't-Know-Who-I-Am roles and he plays this one to a T. Jennifer Lopez flaunts which is most likely her best acting performance as of now in Angel Eyes. Each character displays myriads of emotions throughout the movie be it anger, confusion, joy, fear, sadness, or resent. I really liked this movie and plan on purchasing it in the near future. 5 Stars.

Review: If you like chick flicks and like Jennifer Lopez (I'll speak for most guys and say, "who doesn't" :) you will definitely like this movie.

Was it the best love story of the last 15 years (as was advertised by the woman I work with that recommended it to me claims)? Not in my view, but it makes the top 20.

Better love stories in my humble opinion include Wedding Planner, American President, You've Got Mail, Six Days and Seven Nights, Meet Joe Black, Hope Floats, City of Angels, etc. You get the picture.

You definitely won't go wrong with Angel Eyes. Tis very cool!

Summary: Pleasantly surprised
Review: First of all, I have a natural inclination to hate any drama that graces the screen. I still think Titanic was too long. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The story was that of two people struggling to deal with their past and somehow finding a way to accept what happened and move on with their lives. The story was kind of slow, but it kept me their the whole time. I never turned the DVD off once...I couldn't believe it. I thought Jennifer was great in this movie. Not to mention great looking. YOWZA! The plot was well thought out and delivered extremely well onscreen. I felt that the characters delivered the emotion that I find missing in many of today's dramas. I can truly say that I really enjoyed this movie. All in all, I give this movie a B+. Peace

Summary: Jennifer Lopez stands out
Review: This flick is better than it has a right to be.

J-Lo is Sharon Pogue, a Chicago cop with some family issues. The daughter of a wife-beater and sister of one in training, Sharon has little patience for those who are blasé about violence. Sharon doesn't have much of anything aside from her PD buddies. (They kid her, but let's be real, even as a fictional character, she still looks like J-Lo; whenever any of them start talking too nice, she gives them a quarter to call home). Her comfy solitude is broken when she meets the mysterious "Catch", a laconic (almost catatonic) guy played by Jim Caviezel. Saving her life during an arrest-almost-gone-wrong, Catch is too remote a guy to take advantage of the romantic possibilities...as quickly as the rest of us would. Catch, we learn, loves jazz and toys almost as much as he could love Sharon, yet he remains distant from all three (keeping mounds of toys stashed in the junk draws of his otherwise empty loft). Though Sharon's love can bring him back, we learn that Sharon's demons sidetrack her as well. In the end, each will learn from the other how to love again.

This was a nice flick, but not a great one - Jennifer Lopez (so I spelled her name out, so sue me!) is the flick's best surprise, not letting certified-Diva status keeping her from acting decently. She's so good that she single-handedly covers up what's missing in this flick - any real tension, or any sign that the flick is headed for somewhere or something. Catch, we guess immediately, possesses a secret that's too painful to confront, but it's little revelation when we finally meet it. J-Lo asides, the flick has no surprises, not even the generic and violent kind that you can whip up simply because Sharon is a Chicago cop. The script stirs up a sort of supernatural tone with Catch's mysterious ways (he never closes doors; he seems fixated on his neighbor's young son) nor does much with its location (though Chicago blues infect the early part of the score, that ebbs away quickly, leaving nothing more than the patches on J.Lo's police jacket to remind us where this flick takes place). After an ending that's too pat to be anything other than Hollywood, the credits roll, making anxiously wonder about when J.Lo will ever get a script that highlights her talents. This flick was simply a J.Lo vehicle, but at least one she takes and drives away with.
