The JVC DS-TP450 home theater in a box is a powerful system delivering complete Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround sound in your home--just add a DVD player and TV and you'll be rocking and reeling in your very own home cinema. The system includes a black five-channel (100 watt x 5) receiver, four 100-watt satellite speakers (left, right, and left and right surround), a 100-watt center channel (responsible for 70 percent of a movie's audio information), and a 12-inch, 120-watt-powered subwoofer. The receiver offers both Dolby Digital and audiophile DTS decoders for rendering discrete, 5.1-channel digital surround sound from your favorite movies. Dolby ProLogic digital processing derives four-channel surround sound (left, center, right, and monaural surround) from encoded two-channel TV and VCR signals. The DS-TP450 includes plenty of input options. Two assignable digital inputs (one optical, one coaxial) allow you to get the best performance from your DVD, CD, or minidisc. A line-level subwoofer output ensures quality bass response from any subwoofer. For equally impressive video performance, two composite-video inputs and two S-video outputs provide superior color separation for vibrant colors and sharp imaging. For standard VCRs and older TVs, composite-video, and RCA audio/video connections are also available. The receiver includes a radio tuner as well. Your favorite radio stations will be just a touch away thanks to the DS-TP450's 15 AM and 30 FM station memory. Bass and treble controls are on the face of the unit. The satellite speakers are magnetically shielded, so they can be placed near your TV without causing video distortion. Each satellite (including the center) contains a 3-inch woofer and .5-inch polyamide dome tweeter for a 200 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. Bass (and some low midrange) is provided by the 12-inch polycone subwoofer with internal 120-watt amplifier. Frequency response is rated at 30 to 200 Hz. Everything needed to install and run the DS-TP450 is included in the box, including color-coded speaker wire and "quick setup" instructions. JVC also includes a unified audio/video remote control, capable of running all the units in your home theater system. JVC covers the DS-TP450 with a two-year parts and labor warranty.
