Description:

This sleek home theater includes a five-disc DVD changer, a 100-watts-per-channel AV receiver, and a six-piece speaker system with a 100-watt powered subwoofer.

DVD player
The five-disc changer is great for both movies and music, playing not only DVD-Video discs but also CDs, CD-R/RW, and MP3-encoded discs.

The player's 10-bit, 27 MHz video digital-to-analog conversion and component-video output offer superb pictures through compatible televisions, and a composite-video (single yellow RCA terminal) output is also available for hookup to more basic sets.

Other DVD features include scan/slow playback (forward and reverse), marker function (for instant recall of your favorite scenes), resume play, multilanguage function, multisubtitles function, and selectable camera angles (with compatible discs).

Receiver
The SC-HT290D's receiver (100 watts per channel by five channels) offers full 5.1-channel processing for DTS and Dolby Digital, along with four-channel Dolby Pro Logic processing--compatible with the stereo tracks of most prerecorded VHS cassettes and some TV broadcasts--and Panasonic's Sound Field Control (SFC). The DTS and Dolby Digital formats require digital-audio transmission between the receiver and the system's DVD player.

The receiver also offers Enhanced Class H+ amplifier circuitry, an FM/AM digital-synthesizer tuner, and a universal remote with multibrand TV and VCR capability.

Three stereo analog inputs accommodate audio from other components, and you get a choice of three digital-audio inputs (two optical, one coaxial) for plugging in the DVD player and two other devices (CD recorder, DSS receiver, etc.).

You can even control the subwoofer from the receiver's remote, selecting among five stepped levels for an optimal blend with the other speakers.

Speakers
The five stylish satellite speakers use a ported, two-way design with 4-inch cone woofers and 2.375-inch tweeters.

Subwoofer
The 100-watt powered subwoofer uses dual 5.5-inch drivers in a ported (bass-reflex) cabinet.
