Summary: WARNING! RCA RT2300 IS JUNK! DON'T BE FOOLED! :(
Review: DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT! This is one of the worst Home Theater systems on the market. Shortly after buying it, I encountered the same problems most buyers of this unit have had; (1) Shuts off for no reason, (2) Sound suddenly pops or cuts out all together (3) After time, completely stopped working!
THEN, THE FINAL INSULT IS...Once it dies for good, YOU CAN'T GET THIS THING FIXED! When I took it in for repairs I was told it cannot be fixed unless they buy [an expensive] RCA repair manual.... When I tried to contact RCA, the customer service is TERRIBLE! They offer no support for their product. After being frustrated with the customer service operator I went to the website to find a "authorized RCA repair center" as they suggested and THE SEARCH FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK! ...RCA RT2300 is a nightmare! You have been warned!
RCA is known for putting out shabby electronics, and this is no exception! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER RCA PRODUCT AGAIN! RCA, I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Summary: Best Dolby Digital Home Theater System for the Price!
Review: I am truly amazed with this product from RCA. I was skeptical at what I was going to get for the price....but believe me, I am very pleasantly surprised. RCA delivers on every feature that is key to a quality home theater system. The only drawback is the quality of the speakers. They are very good for 50W speakers but like they say, speakers really make the system. For anyone on a budget, this system is the way to go!

Summary: Dolby Digital/AC3 Ready! For 2 AC3 Devices! With Sub-Woofer.
Review: If you're looking for a home theater stereo system with Dolby Ditigal/AC3, there are none that come close in value and the RT2300 is loaded with features such as Dolby ProLogic and Dolby 3 Stereo for the true surround sound! But what makes this RCA unit an exceptional buy are the optical jacks for two AC3 devices for Dolby Digital (such as a DSS Receiver with AC3, DVD player, or AC3 LaserDisc player)for digital theater quality surround sound. The sound is outstanding, the hook up is straight forward and the control is simple. And while the reciever is rated 250 watts, the system comes with the 50 watt sub-woofer not shown in the picture (RCA rates the entire system at 300 watts with the sub-woofer) - and it sounds really great. This home theater stereo system is the most bang-for-the-buck I've seen in a while!

Summary: BEST SOUNDING SYSTEM FOR THE MONEY, PERIOD.
Review: Just bought the RT 2300 RCA home theater in a box and just love it. The sound will blow you away with it's crisp, clear, Dolby digital reciever. The 50 watt powered subwoofer delivers great bottom to explosions etc. and the five speakers deliver excellent surround sound. I found 300 watts total power is more than enough for any size home theater setup with no distortion what so ever on my speakers. Being a dolby digital system, your satellite TV and DVD'S should sound fantastic with each speaker getting it's own audio source. For the money you just can't go wrong with the RCA RT 2300!

Summary: RT-2300 Watch out!!!
Review: Just over a year ago I was wanting to purchase a home theater system for the family to enhance the enjoyment of watching movies. After looking around we discided to purchse RCA's model RT-2300 Digital sound processor. After setting up the system we enjoyed many movies and the sound was wonderful. We even added a DVD player to further advance the enjoyment of watching movies. When the system was almost a year old, the nightmare started. On occasion the system would shut down by itsself and would not powerup again for several minutes. This seemed to only be a minor inconvience after all, it only happeded occasionally. (At first:{ ) Soon the system would not even power up for more that a few seconds and all movie watching stopped. I have taken the system in for repair three different times(for around $100) and the system still does not work. The receiver has spent the last seven(7) months in and out of the repair shop and still no remedy has been found. ocording to the repairman, he called RCA for some technical help in finding the problem and they said they do not know anything about the reciever because they do not manufacture it directly. So I have a receiver that will sit around and collect dust until the next yard sale. I will most likely hold on to the speakers, after all one can't have too many book ends in the library. In short, BE CAREFUL when considering the RCA RT-2300.

Summary: Adequate for movies, poor for music.
Review: This home theater system is another in a long line of extremely mediocre products from RCA. I purchased a slightly older version of it before I knew anything about home theater. The sound for movies, with dolby digital from a DVD player, is satifactory. You can hear the voices, and most action is reproduced fairly well. The speakers are woefully inadequate when it comes to music. They are made out of cheap, thin wood and just decent materials.

Pros:
*Does an adequate job of movie sound when fed a Dolby Digital signal from a DVD player.

Cons:
*Terrible for music
*Cheap construction
*Only 50 Watts per channel, and that is probably a generous rating.

Summary: RCA RT2300 The Worst Home Theater System I've owned....
Review: This is one of the worst Home Theater systems on the market. Shortly after buying it I encountered the same problems most buyers of this unit have had; (1) Shuts off for no reason, (2) Sound suddenly pops or cuts out all together, (3) After time, completely stops working for no apparent reason.

No more than 3 months after purchasing it the problems began. While watching a movie it would suddenly go thru a period of time of just shutting off for no reason. It would happen 5-10 times in a row, then would "stabilize" and work as normal.
Also, occasionally the sound would "pop" or put out a incredibly loud static noise for a short time (like the sound you hear in test mode to calibrate you speakers). Very annoying. Then finally, it just wouldn't turn on one day. Dead.
(be aware I take meticulous care of my electronics, all protected with a surge protector and keep it clean and dust free).

At first glance the RT2300 looks like a barging, but don't be fooled. You will spend more money on repairs than the actually cost of the unit. I've taken it to two separate repair shops and neither of them were able to fix it. I was told by one it cannot be fixed unless they buy RCA repair manual, which costs a ridiculous $. It's not worth the money or effort a third time.

So, the final insult is once it dies for good, you can't get this thing fixed. When I tried to contact RCA the customer service is terrible. They offer no support for their product...

Summary: This system really rocks your house!
Review: Wow! , if you are ready for the digital sound , this is the system to start with that type of sound. I like a lot because the receiver has a lot of inputs and outputs and the satellite speakers are very comfortable. You don't have to spend a lot of money in a home theater because this is the best! .
