Rating: Summary: " What a system" Review: If you want a really good system and you don't wanna pay a lot, this is the system to go with. I have become a "Home theater fanatic" and just cant get enough of this system. For once in my life I'd rather stay at home and watch a movie, as opposed to going out to the movies.I checked out several other systems in comparison with the RCA RT-2500 and none of them compared to this one.The subwoofer lacks bass power, but that you can always replace with another subwoofer.
Rating: Summary: If you don't have one, GET one! Review: Now let me start off by saying this, every component that comprises my home theater was carefully picked after painstaking research based on value, quality, features and price. And for all those reasons the RCA RT2500 is the only theater sound system you should care about ;nay LOVE as a member of your family. First off the value: you will NOT find another HTIB out there with 700 watts of power at such a low price from ANY brand, period. Secondly the quality:I've owned this gem for about 6 months and I still have no idea how loud it can go.At or around 48 on the volume setting the speakers begin to shake the nails out of the drywall. There is nothing quite like a concussion wave from a thundering explosion hammered out through 6 speakers , just check out the first battle in Lord Of The Rings. At this point I'm relatively terrified to raise the volume any higher during a film. It is also put together EXTREMELY well. I had a problem securing the speakers onto stands and shelves because they literally would vibrate their way onto the hard floor, but every time I expected to see large dings missing paint or a speaker damaged beyond repair it was perfectly fine. Plase note: a fallen speaker is one thing but throwing your equipment is not recommended. And if it's features you want, the RT2500 has them. 2 S-video and 2 optical inputs, more than enough composite inputs for tv vcr dvd cd tape n camcorder . An am/fm tuner, several modes of DSP (digital cinema processing)which can simulate 5.1 channel sound from two channel stereo sources like a cd . It also decodes Dolby Digital Dolby Pro-Logic and DTS formats.which leads to the price value. There are still few receivers that handle both digital formats, and the rest are going to cost alot more for what amounts to so much less. 3 or 4 hundred watts at best, designed mainly for aestethic purposes. If I had one complaint about anything it would be the remote codes and not the subwoofer's supposed "lack of power". The remote doesn't have more than a few codes for different DBS receivers, and yes if you own a product widely popular in a far off country thats going to be a problem, but it shouldn't be if you own a Philips. All in all I STRONGLY recommend purchasing an RT2500,if not two or more before stock runs out.
Rating: Summary: All for 1 & 1 for all.....price that is Review: Thats right, a home theatre package in one box. I started looking for a home theatre system around the hollidays. In the paper, magazines, on the web, and in the stores. With all different kinds of models and sizes its hard to decide whats right for you. Finally I decided I would just start with a simple home set up and improve from there because I didn't want to pump a bunch of money in an electronics package that was too expensive or just overwhelming. I came across radio shack looking for a new phone and thought I'd just check them out. To my astonishment they did. I downloaded the pdf file of the manual with the specs (I won't go into all of those) and price for comparisons to other systems. I was also getting a game console that has a dvd player (since I didn't own one I could kill two birds with one stone) and wanted the best sound I could get without taking out a loan. After looking around I decided to get this system because I didn't have to worry about separate multiple pieces, most small systems don't even have 500w, and for the money if I didn't like it then I could take it back or give it to someone as a gift :-) Upon inspecting the system I found it fairly easy to set up. The lines were color coded to the specific speakers and the manual was pretty self explanitory. My wife wanted the speakers to be mounted up on the walls (they had a service for that as well) so it was put in our den/kitchen (called a morning room) and though the speakers look a little big they looked fine after being installed (ceiling is at least 12-15 ft high). Let me tell you that the sound that this system produces is truly wonderful if you are looking for a starter or even and intermediate package this is it. Game playing is great, movies are like being at the theatre (never going back to vhs), and if you have a party or small gathering this baby can do very nicely. Even at 200w for the subwoofer it won't pack the punch you may be looking for. It won't shake the walls or give you the deeeep bass like the club or a great theatre but, is still nice and gets the job. You can add another (shielded) sub though to the reciever if you like to give you a little more umfff. I dare you to find a better system at this price.....don't bother because you won't....I've already been done that road.
Rating: Summary: great system Review: the only thing I have a problem with is making it play in pcm cause my dvd does not have digital input on the back of it so I have to use a coaxial cable please help if any one can
Rating: Summary: This system really rocks!!! Review: This system is great! After spending a lot of time searching for a HT system, i found it. It's excelent. The set up was really easy and the sound is amazing. I live in Mexico and i have to pay taxes to import the system, but really worth it.
Rating: Summary: Simply Amazing Review: This thing is rockin' big time! I love how you can use the receiver to manipulate the sound to sound like you are really in a movie theater! I have my Xbox running through this system and, man, I can't tell you what a difference the sound is in games! It's so neat to be able to hear where the enemy is comeing from. Anyway, I recommend the system to anyone and everyone!
Rating: Summary: Nice, but totally flawed... Review: Yep it's a decent set for the money, but since the DTS decoding is flawed, I wouldn't bother if you enjoy DTS. How is it flawed, you may ask? Let me tell you. Play a movie with strong bass in it in Dolby 5.1, and then switch to DTS. Where did the bass go? You want an example? Try Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition. The part where Sauron gets killed at the start and there's this bass-heavy 'tidal-wave' across the soldiers. Lots of lovely bass in 5.1, and nothing in DTS. Useless. Same story with ALL DTS movies. You can do better..
