For a careful balance between all-in-one convenience and the quality performance of separate components, JVC's DS-TP220 complete home theater system makes a great addition to any living room.The system includes a five-channel, 100-watt-per-channel receiver with built-in Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital decoding; five magnetically shielded, two-way satellite speakers; and a 10-inch, 100-watt powered subwoofer. The receiver also offers 5.1-channel analog inputs to accommodate a DTS-decoding DVD player or future surround formats. Dolby Digital is a standard format on all DVDs, DBS broadcasts, and in DTV broadcasting. It provides full stereo separation and full frequency bandwidth in the two rear-surround speakers. Dolby Pro Logic's analog surround-encoding algorithm delivers four-channel surround sound from two-channel soundtracks such as those found on many a prerecorded hi-fi videocassette and MTS stereo broadcasts. Other features include a three-band graphic equalizer, a digital acoustic processor with four preset sound fields (for generating surround sound from two-channel sources), independent bass/treble controls, and a motorized volume knob.
