Rating: Summary: what should an impolsive buyer expect Review: I expected more than what I got but this what I get for such little research it is a loud system except for the fact that only 2 of the 6 speakers work while playing the radio
Rating: Summary: Too many problems! Review: I purchased this unit for friends as a Chistmas present based on Amazon's positive description. They have been trying to set it up for 3 weeks and have run into all of the problems mentioned in the customer reviews. Hopefully, it will work eventually. Shame on Amazon for not having alerted prospective purchasers.
Rating: Summary: Great system, small price Review: I ran across this system at our local NFM. I was looking for a surround sound system for under $400.00 and was surprised to see this one in the store for $29.95. I said what the heck and bought 3 of them. Before going home and setting this system up, I looked out on the internet to see what others were saying about this system. It's a good thing that there are those that will take the time to read the manual. After reading what others had to say about this system, I went home and set mine up. It's a great system! The picture is great and the sound is outstanding. I've since setup one of the other two that I had left for my father-in-law and sold the other to a co-worker. We all agree that for the price, it's a great system to own.
Rating: Summary: Not bad for price $70+$30 S&H Review: I read alot of the recent reviews before purchasing this system. I wasn't going to buy it because of the volume problem (too loud) but some people said that this could be lowered in the 'audio properties > dynamics' setting. Sure enough, there is a setting, but it does NOT lower the volume level at all. So, I rang the toll free 888 number and this audio level problem is a defect. However, the dynamic setting is purely to make some sounds softer, not to lower volume. I was told to get a replacement. The replacement is the exact same way ... defective. Buy this system if you only want to hear _DVDs_ with all speakers, because there are no inputs. And the radio, CD is at best stereo, AND if you don't mind the fact that it will be too loud, if at any stage you want a normal listening level. I gave 2 stars because I was able to watch a DVD ok with volume level one. ------------------------------------------ Dec 11th: And the OPTICAL output doesn't seem to work. Anyone else have this problem?
Rating: Summary: Much too loud Review: I should have listened to the other reviewer who said that even at volume '1' this thing is too loud. There is a digital volume that goes from like 0 to 50 or something. I've never tried over 3. If the kid is sleeping, 1 is too loud to watch a movie. Also no inputs, so you can't run a VCR or something through it. The menus were a bit confusing. It took several minutes to figure out how to watch PG movies or enable the surround speakers. Don't throw away the docs, you'll need the password pin.
Rating: Summary: Price=Quality Not always, but THIS TIME! Review: I was excited by all the features offered in this unit for the price, but living with it has left me feeling otherwise. 1. Weak weak weak remote. Point directly, push repeatedly, and Maybe it'll work. Buttons are tiny, not lit, etc 2. Lowest volume TOO LOUD! How can a product be made like that? 3. Amplifier dead after 3 months of light use. I'm calling the company tomorrow, it's got a 1 year warranty, but I'm not hopeful. Even if they ship a replacement, I don't think I want it!...

Rating: Summary: Not worth the trouble Review: I wish I had checked the reviews before ordering. I assumed that there would be a line-in to run my cable and VCR sound through the system. It appears to me that these systems keep getting recycle. The one I received had at least three layers of tape on the flaps from being returned, all the internal packaging was opened and the cables were all loose on the top of the box. I didn't get far enough to check out the speakers, I stopped when I confirmed my suspicion that no line-in was provided. Spend another $20-50 to get something better.
Rating: Summary: Do not tolerate lazy engineering! You can get much better! Review: JVC has put out some quality products. This is not one of them. Whoever was in charge of this design, just wasn't thinking. For instance, the button that opens and shuts the tray is located under the tray! You had to twist your arm to shut the tray. Many essential features were not included and if they were they were difficult to access. The volume equalizer was virtually inaccessible. The lowest volume setting was loud. There are NO INPUTS on this receiver at all! Everything about this system design is, literally, painful! I returned the system because of buzzing speakers and the system did not shut off the subwoofer, when in stand by. So not only was it junk, but the one I got was defective! I bought another JVC system, the H9000 I think, not out of loyalty but because I was looking for an inexpensive system. It wasn't "region free" but, it was comparabely priced and, obvious that whoever designed it took a moment to think, before putting it together.
Rating: Summary: An easy fix Review: Like everyone else I bought this KLH system at a discount price of 75 bucks + 40$ in shipping. When I first got it I was upset by the fact that it "Too Loud" as others have mentioned. However, I have found a quick and easy fix for this - Blow out the speakers! Just Kidding. I really wanted this system to watch every day TV because I do not rent videos from the store. I purchase them "ON DEMAND". It took me a little while to figure out but I have a great setting that you all can use for your Television: -Plug the Center speaker and the BASE BOOM BOX from the main speaker chamber to the Audio "Out-puts" from you TV. -Then plug the left and right speakers from the main speaker chamber to you CABLE AUDIO "Output" on all your cable boxes. This produces a MASSIVE sound that can be controlled with your TV and Cable Volume controls rather than the messed up Volume controls on the KLH DVD system. Buy movies from Paperview! If you do use the DVD only keep the extra two "back" speakers plugged in it as it won't be as loud. The speaker system and Bass tubes are magnificent for 75 bucks when connected to the Cable and TV, who cares about the DVD. CNN, ESPN, and Sunday football games are MASSIVE with the sound. Now go hook it up!
