Summary: Great Enough!
Review: Almost perfect. Love the feature that allows me to turn all equiment on/off with the action+power click (kinda like a shift key). Worked with all my stuff (RCA TV, Sony VCR, Sony DVD, Technics Surround Sound Tuner, and Technics CD), however, remote won't tell tuner to select VCR2 input. Still, allowed me to shelve 4 remotes. I'd buy it again.

Summary: Solid Product
Review: Although the LCD-less control leaves little customization for more un-orthodox set up like Replacement of Wireless keboards for winamp (MP3) if you have the money buy the US$350 Harmon/Kardon Remote

Summary: Good for the money
Review: Based on the price and a need for RF capability, I thought I'd give this unit a try. It works well with my Quasar TV, Technics CD, JVC VCR, and Jerrold Cable box. It glitched on the Sony DE835 receiver, not being able to switch back to TV mode after switching out. Also, the surround/menu features won't respond. A call to the hotline informed me that this Sony model is not covered so, as someone previously mentioned, it's best to call before purchasing if this is important. Actually I'd blame Sony more than Jensen as they could try for more backward-compatibility when bringing new units to market. Anyway, I wanted to control my tuner and cd player from my outdoor spa and this unit allows me to do that. But I have a direct line of sight to the RF receiver thru a window and I think if it wasn't for this, it wouldn't work as well, or at all. Generally, the RF is limited. All in all, for $30, I'm satisfied.

Summary: Not what I expected
Review: Given some of the reviews, I was initially hesitant about purchasing this. However, it's working like a charm. I have a 1 receiver DirecTV setup with the receiver located in my family room, and then a second TV in our bedroom also wired to the receiver. The receiver came with an infered remote control, so I couldn't change channels on the dish from my bedroom without the direct line of sight. But, I can with no problems with this Jensen. Also, it controls my 15 year old Sony TV like a charm. It works perfectly for my requirements.

Summary: "Universal" is a major overstatement
Review: I purchased this model hoping to eliminate the need for three home theater remotes that I was constantly juggling: DVD, TV and Receiver. Well, the Jensen SC-595 operated most of my Toshiba television features, only some limited features of my Sony receiver, and did not communicate at all with my Philips/Magnavox DVD player (despite box advertisment that it would work with Philips/Maganovox dvd players).

I called Jensen customer service, who were really no help at all in getting the remote to work with my DVD player. Their analysis of the problem - your DVD player is "too new." Well, I bought the player in January of 1999.

I would advise against this model unless you confirm compatibility first.

Summary: Get a Sony!
Review: Probably good for simple setups but if ya want something thatis completely customizable, and can learn different codes, get thesony touchscreen remote. It controls up to 12 different components on a wonderful backlit touchscreen display. Much better value than Philips remote...

Summary: Get a Sony!
Review: Remote send out IR as well as RF to the transponder which sends out IR. It controlls my Sony STR-DA555ES, Toshiba 50", Panasonic A120U, Akai and Panasonic HiFi VCRs. This remote exceeded my expectations for functionality (PiP/input/menu for TV, most functions for DVD/VCR, limited function for my receiver but sufficient). It doesn't support any LD players, but even if it did, I don't expect my old Samsung LD player to be supported.

Its RF capability doesn't seem to work very well while my old pair of pyramid IR/RF remote extenders still functions flawlessly. Though not up to my expectations, this Jensen remote's RF capability is adequate, dropping it down to 4 stars.

Other annoyances: claims to control Pro-Logic receivers but cannot on my Dolby Digital/Pro-Logic receiver; only one receiver setting can control most of my Sony's functions except the power switch, I had to use AUX2 with a different code that can only turn the receiver on or off. It's not perfect, but it's the best I own for the price range. It's much more functional than my other programmable/learning remotes. I do recommend it.
