Summary: The Best--Whether Ritch or Poor
Review: After researching home-theatre-in-a-box type systems since early October, 2004, I
finally decided on this one. I ordered mine on November 20, 2004 from OneCall
because they had an unbelievably low price of approximately $368 including FedEx
3-day shipping. In addition to the standard audio and video formats found on all
HTIBs, this is the only one that can play the two new audio formats of DVD-AUDIO
and SACD. The rest only play one or the other. This is the only HTIB with an intigrated
DVD player on the market whose speakers include large cones for more authentic sound.
Unless you have very limited space, it is not necessary to spend more than $400 on
an HTIB. Many of the more expensive ones include either gimics such as smaller speaker
cones housed inside large floor-standing towers only for a nice appearance, or small
satelite speakers with smaller cones inside them that can only produce highly authentic
sound either through sofisticated electronic circuitry, the use of an extra-large
subwoofer, or a combination of the above. There are no cosmetic or electronic gimmics
with the Pioneer HTD-540DV. The reason it is less expensive is because THE REAL THING
is simpler to manufacture than extra-large speaker stands and/or sofisticated electronic
circuitry for special affects. And remember, nothing can truely beat THE REAL THING.
This HTIB is highly recommended.

Summary: Great system, great sound, and great picture
Review: I bought this system after both my parents and grandparents bought it for themselves. Everyone one loves their's, including myself. This sysetem is very nice since it's a reciver amplifier and dvd player all in one. Which cuts down on the wires and the annoyance of moving seprate components, uh... when you move. Also the amplifier is very powerful which makes the passive subwoofer better sounding then my previous active subwoofer system. Another great feature is the fact that it plays both super audio cds and DVD-Audio which is amazing for a system of this price. In actuality I have listened to a number of more exspensive systems, and I actually think that this system is better then a number of them. If you have any doubts about the system after you buy it just listen to Star Wars episode 2 with it and your decision will be validated.
