Description:

Yamaha's YHT-F1500 combines all-in-one convenience with high-quality audio and video components for truly compelling home theater. The system consists of Yamaha's sleek, progressive-scan DV-SL100 DVD-Video/DVD-Audio player, the 6-piece NS-AP9500 speaker ensemble, the YST-SW030 subwoofer, plus Yamaha's slim RX-SL100 home theater receiver, which pumps 100 watts per channel x 6 discrete channels (at 1 kHz) and offers a host of options for rendering the type of surround sound best suited to your taste or programming.

The RX-SL100 is a powerful receiver that accepts the DVD player's Dolby Digital and Dolby EX, and DTS/DTS-ES/DTS Neo:6 surround signals (5.1- and 6.1-channel formats) and routes each channel to its designated speaker. Dolby Pro Logic IIx generates discrete multichannel surround sound from any stereo source. The receiver uses a highly efficient digital amplifier which delivers high power and low distortion from a chassis much smaller than that of a traditional A/V receiver. Additionally, the receiver's Silent Cinema and Night Listening modes enhance headphone and low-level listening, respectively, while Yamaha's 32-bit Cinema-DSP processing gives you an additional 28 surround effects to enhance your movies and music. Front-panel audio/video inputs (including an optical digital-audio in) make it easy to play games or view camcorder footage through your theater, and the receiver offers a total of 5 A/V inputs. The tuner section offers 40-station AM/FM preset tuning.

Yamaha's DV-SL100 spins DVD-Video, VCD, SVCD, CD-R/CD-RW, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, MP3, and JPEG (multisession) CDs, putting most types of audio and video media at your disposal. The versatile player will even render region-free European PAL-formatted discs on NTSC televisions, and vice-versa. The player features both interlaced (for standard TVs) and progressive-scan component-video outputs (for use with compatible HD or HD-ready TVs). Other features include picture zoom, shuffle play, repeat play, and five-disc resume.

The 7-speaker complement includes the 6-speaker NS-AP9500 for the front, center, and surround speakers and Yamaha's YST-SW030 subwoofer for deep bass, which is important for effective home theater sound. Each 3-way speaker in the NS-AP9500 ensemble uses a sealed, acoustic-suspension design with Quad 4-inch high-compliance pulp-cone woofers and a .75-inch soft-dome tweeter.

The 130-watt, 8-inch subwoofer offers Yamaha's patented Advanced Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST), which generates incredible bass from its small enclosure. Advanced YST uses negative-impedance feedback in the amp and a Helmholtz resonator in the speaker to provide strong and accurate bass.

QD-Bass (Quatre Dispersion Bass) technology uses a down-firing driver with square, pyramid-shaped reflective plates to radiate sound with equal effectiveness in all directions. The sub's individual volume control permits the perfect matching of the sub's output to the overall volume of the system. The sub has a signal-sensing circuit, too. When it detects an audio signal, it powers right up. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off.

Yamaha's BASS (Bass Action Selector Switch) tailors the sub's output for either video or music at the touch of a switch. The sub accepts a line-level RCA input only, and a handy phase normal/reverse switch makes it easy to phase-align the output of the subwoofer with the other speakers in the system (room placement greatly affects phase relationships).

All speakers included with the YHT-F1500 feature magnetic shielding, so they can be placed near a TV or monitor and cause no picture degradation.
