Summary: Simply the best Home Theater value for the money bar none
Review: ...it is the best Home Theater System for the money bar none...I have been an an avid Aiwa fan for over 23 years now and have never been disappointed with their products. From my first cassette deck in 1979 to my latest purchase of the HT-D980, that is still the case.

The Ht-D 980 has 120 Watts x 5 which will blow your doors off if not careful! The speakers and subwoofer included in the package sound awesome and can crank with no discernible distortion even at ear-splittingly high levels. It is amazing.

The unit has a plethora of digital inputs to assure you have enough hook-ups for your digital equipment; i.e., DVD, etc. It even offer a Coaxial digital input which is nice, in addition to 3 optical inputs, plus it even offers an optical digital output! As far as regular RCA audio/video inputs, it has 3 inputs and 3 outputs as well as one set of in/out on the front of the unit for quick connection of such things as a video camera, etc. Also for anyone still holding LP's the unit has a phono input which is not so common anymore in the marketplace! Too, another awesome feature is 2 S-Video inputs and outputs for connection of SVHS equipment and output to your S-video equipped television for superior resolution.

Other Home Theater features are 5:1 channel analog input and Dolby Pro Logic. The unit has a graphic equalizer to tailor music or video to your taste and a bass-enhancing feature called super T-Bass which is great for that extra 'Ooomph' out of the subwoofer I need to hear in my Rock music or the soundtract to Apocalypse Now and The Doors.
The tuner in the unit is awesome with 32 presets, all digital. The unit's displays are not only cool looking but well laid out and informative; I especially like the surround display, it rocks!

No drawbacks, only superb performance typical of Aiwa products! Grab it, you won't be sorry.

Summary: Great sound! Great system!
Review: I was skeptical at first. When buying electronics I usually stick to the major players (Sony, JVC, Panasonic, etc.) After firing it up, that skepticism was put to rest. The sound is amazingly clean and clear! The 8 inch 100 watt sub delivers enough bass to rattle your windows and your neighbors too if you so desire. The full range satellites hold their own as well, pumping at high volume (the most my ears can stand anyway) with virtually no distortion. No negatives that I can see. Great performer all around. I'm adding Aiwa to the list of the elite.

Summary: Spend the extra $ for something else
Review: The subwoofer is nice, the speakers are not good, have already relaced mine with another brand, at the moment the receiver is not working, it cuts off after 5 minutes.I will probably have to have it repaired and I have had it 2 months, I am very unhappy with it.
