Summary: Scarface (1982)
Review: Scarface is the best film i have ever seen, a story of a man who came in search of the American dream. Based on Miami in 1980 when thousends of Cubans set sail for the United States.Al Pachino plays Tony who does a favour for Frank a rich man in Miami.
He ends up working for him, not long after he kills his boss and takes over his business, he gets more connections and even marries Franks wife (Micheal Pfifer).
He makes millions with his new partner in Bolivia Alex Sosa, and buys a new mansion and has surveilance cameras everywhere.
Tony gets addicted to cocaine and starts to mess up with his business partner, so he sends hundreds of guys to have him killed. It also takes hundreds to succeed, say ello to my little friend BANG,you f**k with me you f**k with the best.

Summary: Tony Montana, my hero!!!
Review: Brillant film, I was hooked from the start of this film. It follows the premise of a Cuban exile named Tony Montana (amazing performance by Al Pacino) who builds his status as a drug dealer. I admit, some scenes in this film were hard to watch, especially the chainsaw scene and the hanging from a helicopter part, but they just add to the darkness of this film. Michelle Pheiffer puts in a great performance as Tony's coke-snorting wife, someone who offers nothing to the world (sort of like my sister, who sits around all day and watches trading spaces!) How does anyone snort so much coke??? How many f-bombs are blurted in this movie? Who cares! It all adds to the rebel image of Tony Montana, someone that we'd all like to mimick. I wish I could stand up to that much pressure, and still have attitude. And yes, "Say hello to my little friend" is the greatest movie quote of all time.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER AND FOREVER
Review: Al Pacino, the best actor in the world, the best accent in this movie. Scarface, Best Al Pacino movie since the Godfather I only wish Pacino could act like this again. A cuban drug Lord, money was the only problem. Money made lose his friend, his mother, his wife, his sister, then when he went to the top, money killed him!!!!!!!

Summary: Floyd in Akron, OH
Review: I purchased the DVD for my 15 year-old son who likes Al Pacino. When I originally saw this movie, years ago in the theater, I laughed my a** off. It was so full of stereotypes that it was more of a comedy than a serious film. Al Pacino must have really been using coke when he made this movie. It is not in the same league with the Godfather series.

Summary: In My Opinion, The Movie Is Classic! But As For The DVD...
Review: Well, it looks like Universal Pictures gave us one of those 50/50 DVDs. The extras on this single-disc "Collector's Edition" are very satisfying for the Scarface fans, but the transfer makes the movie look dirty when it's not supposed to be.

This happens to be a movie that leans towards a sense of style; that 1980s feel is accompanied by a very fitful and pulsating soundtrack by Giorgio Moroder. Most of the sequences in Scarface look high-class because of Tony's wealthy lifestyle, so cleaning up the film of its fuzziness & dirt would give it an even more realistic feel. I mean, imagine watching those scenes in The Babylon Club remastered both in picture and sound for that absorbing experience! It would really make watching the movie into a happening, which is all the better. Also, look at how grainy some other scenes are: "You made a deal for a ... 18 million dollars without checking with me? Are you crazy, Montana? Are you crazy?!" That scene appears to be the most grainy-filmed sequence in the film, and with this DVD transfer, it appears TWICE as grainy. Is that necessary?

I can see why most people are ticked off with this "Collector's Edition"...if this DVD edition of Scarface REALLY is a collector, then that would mean ruling out all other versions known since its release, because this one IS a "Collector's Edition".

In my opinion, the movie is classic! But as for the DVD, the only thing that makes it a collector's item is the excellent supplemental material.

The movie: *****
The extras: ****
The transfer: Imagine trying to break through a three-layered concrete wall with your head.

Summary: The most overrated film of all time
Review: Those who say Scarface is one of the greatest gangster films of all time, obviously has not spent the time to watch more than this one. I curse those who place Scarface in the same sentence, nevermind level, as such masterpieces as the Godfather (parts 1 and 2), Goodfellas and even Casino. Al Pacino gives a painful performance in a movie that was a mistake to make. If viewers would like to see Pacino at his best, see movies such as Serpico or the Godfather, but please, I beg you, skip on this. The story is simple and makes you feel stupid after watching. Basically the plot of the movie is this: guys die, Pacino screams his lines, tons of drugs are done and Pacino kills his enemies. My bad for ruining the end of the film to those who are not smart enough to figure it out.

When watching this movie, I wanted to cry. Not as a result of the drama of the film (if you want to call the poor acting, directing and writing loosely thrown together dramatic), but because I had taken time out of my life to watch the movie, time I will never ever get back. Al Pacino should have known better when reading this poor script (he also should have taken speech class to develope a reasonable accent). Those of you still contemplating the purchase of this film, I sure hope you do not like good movies or have the ability to live forever or are extremely rich, because if you are not, you will find yourself wanting the time and money you have spent watching this sorry movie back to do anything else. I can best some up this movie in one word; [sad]...

Summary: Push it to the Limit!!
Review: This movie is one of the best movies I ever watched. But the quality of the DVD as discussed in the reviews, is poor. I'm awaiting a re-release, but I'm not selling my used copy until universal puts it out. If you haven't seen this movie, find a way to, borrow your friend's copy. And Don't Point your fingers at the bad guy!
