Summary: One fo the most important and defining films of this decade
Review: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. I am not afraid of anyone Sgt. Kuyan. But I am afraid of Kayser Sose"

As we approach the end of the 1990's and those of us sad enough to be bothered try and write our lists of the best films of the last decade, it is without reservation that a proudly proclaim The Usual Suspects as one of the'films of the decade'. The film is perhaps the most important genre defining film of recent years. It re-invents the film noir a genre that has become so self-conscious in its adherence to, or departure from, the classic elements of film noir (see The Hot Spot). It is a masterpiece of storytelling, suspense, plot development, acting, design........ I run out of superlatives. The performances are superb. 'The Suspects' can also be seen as the film that elevates Kevin Spacey's status as one of the finest actors of his generation. Bryan Singer you maybe a bit of a duck, but my god, what a movie!!!

Chris McQuarrie you will always be rewmembered for writing one of the most engaging screenplays in movie history.

Summary: An "UN" Usual fun twisting ride !
Review: Whether you like to be surprised or spoon-fed your intrigue, there is no denying this thiller delivers something not seen before on the screen...and actual "whodunit" without even knowing who the "who" is!...even at the end!...and WOW what an ending. Cleverness abounds in this twister. An interesting motley crew of thugs and thiefs....each with a unique persona...Fensters butchering of the english language, "Verbal" Kent's(Kevin Spacey) ramblings that make you sympathize for his handicap. And Gabriel Byrne, who gives his best performance since The Coen brothers showcased him in the brilliant "Miller's Crossing" (*****). And throw in the enigmatic mystery figure Keyser Soze (an acronym perhaps?)and you have a thrilling caper-laden story within a story. Definetly a must see for fans of Tarentino dialog and brevado !

Summary: makes rooting for the bad guys the right choice!
Review: This movie is filled with twists and turns you never expect, one of those films that you "just know" how it's going to end-but your guess changes every time the scene changes!!! Some complain about the ending but it left me w/ a sense of calm and an ironic bit of justice.

Summary: Kevin Spacey dazzles in "Usual Suspects..."
Review: A smart, violent, stylish film and an instant-classic (not to mention a hunk-fest for the females in the audience -- sorry, as a female and a Spacey fan, I had to say it). Also, a must-see for action or "whodunit" lovers. Now MY only question is, what's Maltin talking about?? The film's twists and turns are EXPLAINED by the film's knockout ending, not obliterated by it. Watch closely and it's all very logical. Maltin (and the amazon.com reviewer) fell asleep on the job on that one -- disregard them. The film never sacrifices cleverness for style -- it's a Chinese puzzle-box, with every clue falling into place for those who look closely.

Summary: Remarkable!
Review: At the heart of this tidy little thriller is Christopher McQuarrie's Oscar-winning screenplay, which screeches around all sorts of twists and turns, coming to an abrupt (albeit surprising) stop at the end. Crackling with wonderful dialogue and performances, sporting the most perfect ending to a movie I have ever seen, as well as being certainly the most clever, THE USUAL SUSPECTS is, obviously, a *****-star film. So: "How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?"

Summary: Masterfully done with a twist that will shock you
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. The storyline and characters are great, from the quiet Verbal to the eerily distant McManis. It is a story of criminals brought together by a mysterious force that they will never fully understand. The ending is one of the most shocking you will ever see, and you will think about it for days after you see it.

Summary: You MUST see this film!!!!!
Review: Simply Stunning! The only way to describe this film! I would give anything to be able to see it again for the first time! The acting is fabulous, the screenplay so complex that it leaves the viewer in awe. As one actor said himself (although about a different film) the pyrotechnics are emotional. Absolutely! The whole cast is amazing although Spacey stands out aboove all others. SEE THIS FILM!!!! You will not be disappointed!

Summary: I thought....
Review: It was extremely well done. Most movies that have flashback sequences to them either lose you or bore you, but this one did neither one. If you like suprise endings see, "The Usual Suspects"!
