Summary: Thank you Bryan Singer
Review: Had to write a review on Usual Suspects. Not cause I am a suspense movie fan. But the fact that I gave Pulp Fiction thumbs down, this movie is violent too. But there is so much to the story. Good script & acting by all. And of course Kevin Spacey takes it all. I give it 4 stars and not 5 cause the first 20 minutes or so is so slow and you really don't know what is happening. But when it picks up - it pulls you through with a big bang! Will call it a classic!

Summary: The APOCALYPSE NOW! of crime thrillers
Review: Bryan Singer (X-MEN; THE APT PUPIL) has crafted this superbly entertaining anti-heroic crime thriller with Post-Modern mythology of criminal Ubermensch. KEYSER SOZE is Colonel Kurtz of crime and looms like The Bogeyman in this fable of treachery, greed, and allegiance to lawlessness.

Gabriel Byrne is excellent as Dean; the ex-super cop turned super-hood gang leader. As is the rest of the ensemble cast: Stephen Baldwin; Kevin Pollack; and academy award winners Kevin Spacey and Benicio del Toro. They comprise a criminal "SEAL" team unwillingly commissioned by Pete Postlesthwaite (Soze's demonic legal emissary)to thwart a $91 million drug deal and annihilate a rival army of traffickers at the mysterious Crime Lord's behest. Chazz Palminteri(Giovanni Falcone of EXCELLENT CADAVERS)essays a Rudi Guilliani-like role of prosecutor eeking a bloody tale of betrayal and vengeance from crippled gang member Verbal Kint played with alternating insolence and insufferable obsequiousness by Spacey. The gang's anti-Mission Impossible is doomed from the jump. But consider influence of staid English "drawing-room" murder mystery ironically driving the film to its gunz-a-go-go Apocalypse Now! ending. WHO(is Keyser Soze...Why did he)DONE IT?" is gist of this thriller-puzzle laced with wicked undertones of black humor. THE USUAL SUSPECTS is UNUSUAL movie and may well secure status as cult classic....

Summary: The Greatest Movie Possibly Ever
Review: Lock the door. Destroy your telephone. buy the kids a Playstation and send them to the basement. Throw the dog outside, and put your spouse on stealth mode. If you don't get distracted by anything, you will see one of the greatest movies possibly ever made. People who say they figured it out before the ending are either LIARS, or just got lucky. You can't, with any reason figure this movie out until the end, so don't spend your time trying. Just sit back and enjoy. The story could be difficult to follow at times but well worth it. If you enjoy movies with some thought to them, this is for you. If you liked Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels then you will thoroughly enjoy this. A lot has been said about Kevin Spacey's performance (deservedly so!), but Benicio Del Torro, Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin (how he could make Biodome after this I'll never know), and Kevin Pollack, all give amazing performances. Even so the real star is the storyline. Oh and there is no secret ending...

Summary: Good... Not Great
Review: Entertaining film, but not as good watching it the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time... No interesting special features.

Summary: What a movie!
Review: This is without a doubt one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Christopher McQuarrie's Academy Award winning screenplay deserves a great deal of praise. Kevin Spacey gives a wonderful and memorable performance as Verbal Kint, as does Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio Del Toro, and Kevin Pollack. This movie is well worth your money.

Summary: Intriguing and Suspenseful! Bryan Singer's Masterpiece!
Review: The Usual Suspects is one of the finest films I've ever seen. It is peppered with magnificent performances, excellent direction, and a brilliant script(Which incidentally won the Oscar for Best Screenplay). Director Bryan Singer molds a tight and entertaining tale of five men, falsely brought in on charges of a stolen vehicle, then deciding to join forces and commit more crimes. What transgresses is a story of deceit, corruption and murder. Not only is the tale incredibly gripping, it is also downright hilarious at some points, making it such an enjoyable film. Kevin Spacey delivers an amazing performance as Verbal Kint, a scam artist cripple. Gabriel Byrne is great as the tough but compassionate Dean Keaton. Kevin Pollack delivers a strong and razor sharp comic relief role as Todd Hockney. One of the most surprisingly fantastic performances comes from Stephen Baldwin, who really packs a punch in this one. Benicio Del Toro gained rave reviews for his role as Fenster in this film , with due cause. Chazz Palminteri is also very intimidating as the cop trying to bring them down. This film won two Oscars, for original screenplay(Christopher McQuarrie, can you believe this was an original?!) and very deservedly for Kevin Spacey and his awesome performance. There is a surprise ending that will knock you off your seat. Sorry, can't give it away. Go out and see it.

Summary: The most painfully boring movie I've ever seen.
Review: This is the most painfully boring movie I have ever seen. And I hardly ever get bored, I watch everything from spy movies to documentaries on rodents. A good movie has to give some reason to be interested in what happens, a "carrot" to lead the viewer on to the rest of the movie, and The Usual Suspects holds back until the last five minutes. But by then it is an hour and a half too late.

The "suprise" clincher ending could have saved it, if it had occured after the first 45 minutes. After an hour I started checking my watch wondering when the agony would be over. Watching cars drive by on the highway would have been more entertaining.

It probably doesn't help that I saw the last five minutes on TV before I saw the movie.

Summary: One of the few truly 5-star movies I've seen
Review: Before I saw this movie, I had been informed that the ending will blow your mind away. I thought, alright, let's see if it can surprise ME, who has experienced many surprise endings that failed to please. So, the first third of the movie or so was alright...if it had continued like that it would have been a 3 star movie. The second third is when things really pick up, and when the movie's now famous central mystery gets kicked into full gear: Who is Keyser Soze? From the first mention of the name from the hospital patient, viewers will be slowly thinking up theory's of their own. As the movie's last third comes in, the conclusion comes rolling in and I think: "Thats IT?? Thats what everyones talking about!?" Then in the last minute or two...BAM! The surprise ending comes barreling in at full speed and throws you off your couch. Worth watching again and again.

Summary: Mind Games
Review: I sat on the edge of my seat, gazing at the screen. Completely glued. As the end came barreling in, I was shocked by the complexity of the story line. By the ending, everything made sense. All through the next day, I reviewed the plot over in my mind. I went out and rented it again. By the end of the second viewing, a curtain opened, and I almost laughed at the simplicity. If only this genious writer had continued in The Way Of The Gun, it would have been a blockbuster. I highly recommend my favorite movie to anyone.
