Summary: do not see what the big deal is
Review: Perhaps a portion of my misfortune was the years of hype the preceded me actually viewing this film.

While it was interesting I found the character developement to be inadequate to lock in interest. The movie just seemed to pass time. It somewhat reminded me of the movie "GO" how you got to see the same 30 minutes over and over again.

While the style was neat, this movie had little to offer beyond a few of the opening comments.

Summary: The movie that started Quentin Tarantino
Review: Reservoir Dogs has some great acting by Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, and Steve Buschemi. Six perfect killers are hired to pull of the single perfect diamond heist. The heist explodes into a bloody ambushand they soon relize one of them is a police informer. But which one? Quentin Tarantino's first and possibly best movie to date. Includes the infamous ear scene, Steve Buschemi's convincing lecture about tipping, and award worthy performances by both Harvey Keitel and Tim Roth.

Summary: Every Dog has its Day.
Review: Resovoir dogs is the first attempt of a man destined to conquer and rock the movie world forever. With its wit, naturalistic dialouge, and twisty curvy story, resovoir dogs had me hooked and paying attention within the first 2 minutes. The real highlight of Tarantino's style is his novelistic way of telling a story on film. It's more like a bunch of short stories, all put together to make one super story. Every main charactor has a segment telling what happened leading up to the present, so you can deduct logically in your mind, and conclude who the undercover cop is that ruined a perfect crime.

The cast of resovoir dogs is dynamite, and they all fit and work together very very well. And of course, Harvey Keitel was awesome as the viewpoint charactor, Mr. White.

In conclusion, resovoir dogs is a lightning paced, edge of your seat pressure-cooker movie, complete with perfect dialouge and qoutably cool scenes. My personal favorite of all Tarantinos films.

Summary: Tarantino Does it again
Review: This compelling story of Six strangers, colored names such as Myr. White(Harvey Kietel), and Quentin Tarantino(Mr. Brown)pulled together to do a simple heist, leading to a blood bath, with them all pointing fingers, on who is "The Rat." A classin blame game plot, in which, no one is trusted, and everyone has different ideas on who turned on them. My only concern about this movie is the Running time, and hour and a half?????? come on, at least add on another hour, the story went by to fast, and you really didn't get to know and like the characters. Harvey Kietel and Steve Buschemi are excellent in the crime story by Quinten Tarantino, the King of Action

Summary: A Definite Classic!
Review: The great thing about DVD is that you may be able to program the order of the chapters, which is very useful for a Quentin Tarantino film.

This is why people should own DVDs of Tarantino's films. Reservoir Dog DVD owners should try something new when watching this film. Try watching it in chronological order. Set your DVD player in Program mode, set and play the chapter in this order: 8, 11, 17, 18, 19, 15, 16, 1, 2, 20, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 21, and 22. If you play the chapters in this order, you will discover a different experience. You will see a slow build up of the characters into a violent explosion. And check my review for Pulp Fiction for the chronological order.

Summary: One of the best crime films I have ever seen
Review: Mr. White ( Harvey Keitel), Mr. Orange ( Tim Roth), Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen), Mr. Pink ( Steve Buscemi), Mr. Blue ( Edward Bunker), and Mr. Brown ( Quentin Tarantino) are all perfect strangers that have been brought together by Joe Cabot (Lawrence Tierney)to pull a simple diamond store heist. Unfortunately, when they show up, the cops are waiting for them and the simple robbery turns into a blood bath. Now this obviously means that they were set up. But no one knows which one of them is the police informant. The majority of the film involves introducing us to the characters and showing how they came to be involved, as well as flashbacks and flashforwards taking us through the day to watch the events unfold.

"Reservoir Dogs" marked the directorial debut of Quentin Tarantino, and I must say that it has to be one of the best film debuts that I have ever seen. The cast picked for this film was absolutely perfect. They all offer outstanding performances, and the film could not have succeeded without them. Tarantino was not only responsible for the direction of the film, but also wrote the flawless script. The script is brilliant. You have got a simple robbery gone wrong, that turns into a hard to solve mystery. Any man could be guilty. Not to mention the violence, which includes the infamous torture scene with Michael Madsen. The main reason this film succeeds, is that it shows what ordinary crime films keep out - the frustration when something goes wrong, the humor, and the clashing of egos between the criminals. The soundtrack to this movie is outstanding as well, and each song used fits each scene perfectly.

Overall, this is one of the best crime films that I have ever seen. The film is shot brilliantly taking us back and forth over the day of the robbery. This provides for tons of violence, a hard to solve mystery, and outstanding dialogue between the characters. This is the first crime film that I have seen that runs mainly on the personalities of the characters, and not the actual story. The DVD is great. The film was re-released with this Special 2 Disc Edition. Now you get deleted scenes, interviews with all of the cast, a tribute to Lawrence Tierney, and much more.

Summary: Really really good movie.
Review: For a guy who never went to film school, worked at a video store, make a low budget gangster film and get huge success out of it, astonishes me. Quentin Tarentino's first movie is one of my favorites, and it's a perfect homage to gangster movies of the 40's and 50's. What's good about this movie, is that it doesn't have the lame aspects of those earlier films. It pays homage to them, yes, but it also has a contemporary feel to it.

Anyway, the movie is about a group of guys who plan to rob a bank. They don't know each other, they're just in on the money. Later on, they get set up and the robbery is a failure. Two of the guys, Mr. White (Harvey Keitel) and Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) want to know who set them up.

The movie is really fast-paced, save for a few scenes with the mob boss and the conversations. And it also takes place mainly in a garage. I really love the low budget feel of the movie. It's almost like Mean Streets (best film ever), and the acting is superb. Lawrence Tierney has the best role ever, and acts it out like a true pro would. The movie also has a pretty graphic torture scene (though the violence isn't as graphic as Man Bites Dog, or A Clockwork Orange.). Everybody was perfect. I used to hate Quentin Tarentino as an actor, but I now think he did a good job. Good movie.

Summary: Tarantino's First, and best
Review: This DVD is so sharp, and the fact that it comes with two verisons, both widescreen and fullscreen, just makes it that much more special. Tarantino's first film about a jewel heist gone all wrong. This film is a must have for any fan of serious crime drama. The extras on this release are just awesome, and are worth the price of the disc alone. If you haven't seen this movie and are looking for something new and refreshing, don't read any more, go and buy this DVD. The Mr. Brown keep case, from what I've been told, is the most rare one...but, I could be wrong. Either way, enjoy this film.

Summary: I can't say I knew what to expect
Review: I looked at this movie, because I was getting board over the summer, and I didn't even read anything about it(ecept the back of the cover, and it sorta intriuged me). My brother had it, so I though i'd check it out.

And man, it just made my summer a bit better. It tells a good story of a ban heist gone bad. 6 robbers in a diamond heist, but ones a police informer, and everybodys at eachothers throat trying to find the rat. It also shows, how the main characters got involved with the heist.

And the movie is a little violent(Something I like seeing in movies nowdays). Another strange thing is, I don't like 70's music, but I somewhat liked K-billies sounds of the 70's. I was saying hugachaka when they were saying it and stuff.

Well if you love movies with suspence in it, or a good mystery trying to be solved then this is the movie you should look at.

Peace

Summary: The King of Dialogue
Review: Reservoir Dogs revolutionized filmmaking through spoken dialogue between characters. Tarantino proved himself a true genius of cinema by making up an arbitrary topic and having his characters discuss it in an often times hilarious manner. By having all these criminals discuss simple topics like the true meaning of Madonna's song "Like a Virgin", Tarantino gives these characters a touch of humanity that has never existed in any film preceding it.

The film is a tremendous accomplishment by a first time director and while not on par with Tarantino's other masterpiece, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs certainly is in a league of its own.
