Summary: Brutal, Simple, and One Hell of a Movie
Review: This is truly one of the greatest independent films ever made, let alone one of the greatest movies made period.

This is the movie that made a video store employee working for minimum wage into one of the greatest figures in movie-making history. Quentin Tarentino's break-through premier film displays his true talent for writing. It just goes to show how successful a high-school dropout (with all do respect) can be.

The movie starts as a group of complete strangers who refer to eachother only by colors are planning a robbery of a jewelry store which goes horribly wrong. Appearantly one of them is an undercover cop, I won't tell who, I hate giving away stories.

This movie gives briliant performances from Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, and Steve Buschemi (probably his biggest role ever too). The dialogue comes right off of the page and onto the screen. Some of the best acting I've seen in a movie. The speech flows completely naturally and like most of QT's films carrys the plot entirely.

However, this film may not be for everyone. Especially for anyone who can't stomach violence. But when you think of the best movies of the nineties, Reservoir Dogs certainly comes to mind. If you enjoy this I definately recommend Pulp Fiction, which is tied with Reservoir Dogs as my favorite Tarentino. But if your looking for a solid, fun-filled one and a half hours of action-packed, cinematic gold, Reservoir Dogs is a must buy.

Summary: Dogs done right.
Review: I have the original DVD release complete with mediocre transfer, pro-logic sound and absolutely no special features, and I must have watched it a dozen times without complaint. I guess I never knew what I was missing until this edition came out.

First of all, the movie itself looks and sounds a lot better. The reviewers who've complained about the sound must realize that this movie was extremely low budget, and the sound was never going to win an academy award. Warehouses aren't exactly known for their great accoustics, and 3/4's of the movie takes place in one. I thought the audio was more than passable, and it's in pro-logic, dolby digital and DTS. The video is given a good solid transfer this time and looks great. You have the option of watchng it full screen or wide screen, on two different disks.

The big improvement over the last release is the wealth of special features. There are so many interviews it's unreal, and they are all entertaining. Most of the cast members are interviewed and gie their own unique insight on how the movie was made, memories etc. Noticeable exceptions are Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel, who I really would have liked seeing. I don't know why they weren't there, but they were missed. Although I've loved this movie for years, I had no idea how it was made. The "making of" is a good story in and of itself. Although Tarantino can come off as a bit of a hyperactive spazz sometimes, it's incredible to think he was so broek he didn't even have a car and had to take a bus to cast meetings. It's actually kind of inspiring when you get the whole story from the interviews and the commentary.

My favorite series of interviews were the ones about Lawrence Tierney whom, unbeknownst to me, died earlier this year. There was some hilarious stuff in there. Apparently the guy was as tough as he looked.

There are a few deleted scenes. Not as many as you'd find in some of the DVD's out there, but they give some additional perspective on what was going on off camera as well as some insight to the undercover cop Mr. White mentioned early in the movie. The deleted "ear" scenes were nasty. I can see why they chose to cut them. No pun intended.

Overall, if you love this movie, you've got to own this DVD. If you already own the other one: upgrade. There's no comparison. It's not as good as Pulp Fiction, but it's a great movie.

Summary: A classic movie
Review: RESERVOIR DOGS has been re-released on a special limited addittion set. I had to buy this. This is one of the best movies ever seen, this is just my opinion. The plot of the movie is a jewel heist gone bad. We see how the theives interact with each other afterwards, we get some background info on the plot and info on the theives and how it all went to pieces. The cast is a top notch one with Micheal Madsen, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn acting their hearts out. The bonus material on these two disc is a plus. The alternate takes of the "ear" scene make it almost worth the price itself. The cast remembers Lawerence Tierney who passed away not to long ago. At times their stories are funny and amusing. This is a must have for any fans of great movies out there

Summary: Great Movie, Poor 10th Ann. DVD
Review: I was so happy to finally get the 10th Ann. version home and into my DVD, because frankly it is a movie that I can watch multiple times and still find new things in it. And also there was a commentary track on it, oh and there is one, but it is a "Interview" style commentary track, using past interviews with cast and crew. Not what I was expecting, would have loved to have had the Director commenting on the film as it played out in front of him, like in other DVD's. So again I am let down by a great movie that has been moved to DVD with not much more than archived material.

Summary: An Excellent Movie, Good DVD Package
Review: First off, Reservoir Dogs is a wonderful movie. It's funny, smart and entertaining. The dialogue is superb, as is Quentin Tarantino's other masterpiece Pulp Fiction, but the characters in Reservoir Dogs are just great. Even though they're criminals, you can relate to many of their dilemmas and motives during the course of the movie. The acting is also top-notch, and, for a movie where the actors had to wear their own suits to the set, very proffessional looking. Watch this movie.

The DVD packaging is a pretty cool concept, with the different character covers, but if your going to buy this DVD just for that, don't. The advertisements boast "a booklet with many memorable quotes and photos". Sure there are quotes, but I wouldn't consider TWO being many. Well, maybe they consider two many when they repeat each one TWICE, but I sure don't. The photos are nice, but each one is the size of half a page, so there aren't all that many. The extras are good, but not really great.

All in all, the movie alone is worth buying this DVD, and the extras are just an added bonus to an already wonderful experience.

Summary: a classic film
Review: This movie is a rare example of "quality" film making. Quentin Tarrintino's ability to produce such fresh and genuine dialog is unparelleled! This movie is in a word, cool! From the opening breakfast scene which is fantastic to what is probably one of the greatest scenes in movie history the infamous "ear scene"!!! to the little known fact that it takes place in a mortuary, check out the caskets in the background and Mr. Blonde sitting on a covered hearse!Unbelievable!!!!

Summary: Reservoir Dogs.....nuff said
Review: This review is just of the movie, because as of the writing of this review, the dvd had not yet come out.

Reservoir Dogs is an amazing movie. Though it was criticized about its liberal "stealing" things from other films, it still remains one of the most original films in a long time. With its snappy dialogue and intense action (not really all that violent though), Quentin Tarantino created a masterpiece and one of the most influential films of the decade. With their black suits and tough-guy attitudes, these characters really just shoot out testosterone with every sentence. Harvey Keitel.....Steve Buscemi.....Michael Madsen.....Tim Roth......Lawrence Tierney...this is one of the finest ensembles i have ever seen. With every line delivered beautifully, this film may have come out better than anyone could have imagined. Only God knows how much this film has affected me...on the way i view violence in films, (being a director) how i shoot violence, the proper use of music in movies, and how i view film in general. This film goes down in history as the movie that shot off the career of a young video store clerk who became a director. This is EASILY one of my favorite movies of all time, and is BY FAR the most influential on my filmmaking style and my life.

Review: Just wanted everyone to know that the idea of using color-coded criminal pseudonyms came from the film The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3.

Summary: Great Movie - BAD DVD Sound
Review: Don't get my rating wrong-this is a 5 star movie, but the sound is horrible. And I've tried this DVD on a number of players and sound systems with all the bells and whistles. I also have a friend with the same DVD who sares this complaint.

For instance, one can't hear what finally happens to Mr. Pink. If I had not seen it in a movie theater, I would have thought there was a different ending. ...you can clearly hear what happens to Mr. Pink on the VHS version!!!

I'm surprised someone seemingly as meticulous as Quentin Tarentino would let such [stuff] slip by.

Hopefully, the 10th anniversary edition will correct the soundtrack. If it does, I'll sell this sub-par one off toward its purchase.

This is a great movie for all the reasons the other reviewers site.

Summary: Dated
Review: It's amazing what ten years can do to a film. What was fresh and unique in 1992 is now overdone cliche in 2002. The true test to any film is how well it stands the test of time, and this film cannot stand well at all. The scenes are cumbersome and contrived. The acting is forced, and the violence is comically overdone, but not to the film's benefit.
