Summary: An all time classic.
Review: What can I say that hasn't already been said about PF? It's brilliant, shocking, funny & daring. A lot of people are put off by the confusing story line, (not to mention the drugs, violence & profanity) but once you've seen it two or three times, it becomes much easier to follow the non-linear structure.Not only is this one of the smartest films of the 90's, it also might be the funniest. You'll be quoting lines at the most inapprorpriate times, as there are a ton of great one liners. Once you're hooked, you're hooked for life. Now, if only Beuna Vista would release a better dvd version of this film.

Review: Friend Prices For all its reputation of hard-hitting action and harder sexuality, "Pulp Fiction" contains some of the sweetest moments between men and women that have ever been filmed. In its own way, this is one of the best of the Chick Flicks. Not only does Travolta's character not take advantage of a woman to whom he is deeply attracted, when a terrible crisis arises, he stands by her. True, if he violates her very formidable husband's trust, his only alternative is to cut and run and hope her husband never finds him -- a lot of people are on the run from the guy, anyway -- but Travolta's character hangs in there. By the end of their scenes together, Travolta's and Thurman's characters are best buds, with the kinds of secrets that buddies keep. Bruce Willis may rant and rave at his own girlfriend -- the actress is obviously playing a woman who grew up with a lot of abuse -- but he takes responsibility for his own mistakes, and instead of blaming her, he actually apologizes to her. He's polite and pleasant with the bloodthirsty cab-driver. Plenty of tension in these relationships, but no harm. When Thurman's character is alone with her husband, she is obviously completely happy and at ease. Her husband and she never talk to one another -- but we receive the clue to their relationship when she says,"Don't you hate those uncomfortable silences?" She wants a man she can be silently happy with. Somebody she can just sit and enjoy life with. Maybe she is a trophy wife, maybe she just wants her husband for his money. Who knows? It doesn't harm anyone. They're both happy and comfortable and stable with each other. Her husband has trouble with other people, but not with her. The pitiful little robber couple in the restaurant obviously adore one another, and will stand by each other, come hell or bad robberies. Theirs is probably the sweetest relationship in the movie. And if we want to observe the Perfect Couple, we have Travolta and Jackson. They literally cannot live without each other, at least not as long as they remain in their world. Harvey Keitel and his girlfriend are the picture of great pals. Everybody should go to breakfast like that. When the characters do favors for each other, they remember the favors, and reciprocate. In a way they reflect the natural gratitude of predators -- do something good for a predator, and that animal will never forget. Aesop got it right. Nobody forgets who's done right by him or her. These are Friend Prices. The only time the Couple goes wrong is with Christopher Walken and his prison buddy. They hang together, but Walken's character is boiling over with resentment. He's been handed a Fairy Tale that shines in the past, and tried to pass it on. But the closer you get to today, the more true and the more mean the Fairy Tale always gets. Could be it was because Walken and his buddy didn't -- so to speak -- Watch Out. The characters in "Pulp Fiction" are as good and honest and true as their lives allow them to be. Hats off to Tarantino for giving us these thoroughly sympathetic rats and runners. We couldn't imagine ourselves, in the same situations, acting any other way. It's a lesson in How To Be Nice To Your Girlfriend -- or your Buddy or Pal or Boyfriend, for that matter.

Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: Gives new meaning to the phrases "gratuitous violence" and "meaningless profanity." (This opinion comes from a viewer who considers "A Clockwork Orange" and "Fargo" excellent films). How this useless and depressing trash can be praised is quite beyond me.

Summary: Awesome Movie
Review: Great movie, great actors, great story, and wonderful everything. Only a couple let downs though. I did not like the first segment with John Travolta and Uma Thurman, was just boring and I get sickened out by drugs. Other than that segment, it wasn't that bad. Good movie, just a lot of violence, drugs, and cuss words.

Summary: Worthwhile Movie, Package of Compromised Value
Review: It's mid-2000, and practically everybody who will consider buying this DVD has already seen PULP FICTION. Unfortunately, this product has fallen victim to the common flaw of early Disney/Miramax DVD releases: you will not get the best value for your money. This studio has already released a VHS widescreen "collector's edition" that contains two deleted scenes and Tarantino commentary. You will not find this material on the DVD. Also, unlike other cult favorites released by Disney/Miramax (such as CLERKS and SCREAM), you will not get director's commentary on a secondary soundtrack. You will get the rudimentary DVD features--subtitles, scene access, and other languages--but Disney/Miramax has not yet presented this film in DVD packaging worthy of the devotion Tarantino's work has inspired and the influence it still has. If I were to rate this DVD on the merits of the film alone, I would say it deserves at least four and a half stars out of five. Unfortunately, the packaging falls short of what it should be, even what it could be with available material. Let's hope that Disney/Miramax offers a better, more extras-rich DVD edition in the future.

Summary: Some things shouldn't be recycled.
Review: It would be easy to spend my 1,000 word alotment on moral ground, but a larger problem with this "orginal" film is its unoriginality. Quentin borrows much of the film ideas from other films he must have watched countless times while working at video a store. It disgusted me the first time with crude and often dump jokes, many things thrown in just to be thrown in like gay rape, drug use, and a near overdoes of violence. In fact, if you took all this out of the movie, it would be a blank tape. I would prefer the blank tape. I strongly urge anyone who hasn't seen this tape, especially people easily offended to not watch this video.

Summary: BRING OUT THE GIMP
Review: Quentin Tarantino. Quentin Tarantino. Quentin Tarantino. Ready to buy the movie yet? If not, you've obviously never heard of him or seen any of his works. Writer, director and amateur actor, he melds colour, music and video into one. The Pulp Fiction soundtrack is quite terrible to anyone who hasn't seen the movie, but after you have, each tune reminds you of a scene from the movie - from Travolta trippin' in his car to the (hilarious) rape scene, where Bruce Willis saves himself and his arch-enemy from shot-gun weilding hicks. The twisting, multi-protagonistic plot is excellent and enjoyable for layman and intellectual alike. This is my favorite movie from the last 10 years (a close second to Apocalypse Now), buy it now and enjoy it for years.

Summary: Tarantino's best
Review: After viewing an extremely cut version of Pulp Fiction on TV a couple of years ago, I had always wanted to own the video - but this wasn't easy, as I am 14 now and it is rated R18+. But I managed to talk my mum into buying it for me and I must say that it is the best movie that I have ever seen. Quentin Tarantino mixes wit and violence very well in this movie masterpiece. I was also able to purchase Resorvoir Dogs a couple of months ago and I also found that to be very, very good. A bloody good movie - well worth the cheap price!
