Summary: Weak plot, but COOL explosions
Review: The movie itself is not all that great, and largely due to Tommy Lee Jones' super-fake Irish accent and the movie leaves much to be explained. BUT, if you're into explosions, this movie definitely has some good ones, not to mention some pretty cool bombs and tricky boobytraps which will catch the interest of most of you pyromaniacs out there!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It was ok
Review: The movie was not as what people reviewed it to be. The scenes were stuff gets blown up is cool but there is not many scenes like that, it had to much dialouge. It did have a few gripping moments but other then that, it was an averge movie with nothing memorable.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: decent action film
Review: The script is very weak ,and at times it just becomes the "typical action movie".However I am a die-hard Jeff Bridges fan and I live in a town right next to boston(where the movie was filmed). It was interesting to see all of the landmarks of the city, but there are plenty of other, better films shot in New England,"Witches of Eastwick","School ties","Mermaids".But I dont want to sound to negative so watch it for pure entertainment value.

Summary: GGGGRRRREAT!
Review: this movie had it all ~ acting, action, and suspence! its not just a typical blow um up movie, it has double the everything! it will definitely blow you away!

Summary: Spectacular Effects Ignite the Fuse.......
Review: This review refers to the MGM DVD edtion of "Blown Away"....

A great cast, spectacular special effects, and a superb DVD is what makes this film worth the view and maybe adding to your collection. It's a thriller that although exciting is at times rather predictable.

Jeff Bridges plays Jimmy Dove, a Boston bomb squad expert. There seems to be an unusally high amount of bombs being ignited in this city. Jimmy always seems to be rushing off from wherever he is to defuse the explosives and he is real good at what he does.
His work is harrowing and has taken it's toll on him.He is about to retire from this dangerous work and start a new life with his new wife Kate(Suzy Amis),and little step-daughter Lizzy, when a mad bomber(Tommy Lee Jones) comes to town, and JIMMY is his main target!

Jimmy puts his new life on hold and his new family in danger, when he goes after this deranged terrorist with a vengance. It's not so easy though, this expert bomb maker is the one who taught Jimmy everything he knows in the first place, and now he's out for revenge. The results are EXPLOSIVE!

There's lots of edge of your seat, tense moments, and the explosions will have you in awe. Tommy Lee Jones is terrifying, Jeff Bridges electrifying, and Lloyd Bridges and Forest Whitaker are also welcome additions to this great cast.It was directed by Stephen Hopkins("The Ghost and the Darkness"/"Predator 2")and also has a great sountrack.

As I mentioned before the DVD is top notch. If you've seen this film and are thinking about adding it to your collection, you'll be real happy with the way it looks and sounds. It has the choice of viewing it in the original widescreen format, or in a standard format. I really reccomend the widescreen with all the action going on in this one.The colors will astound you. The soundtrack is in Dolby Dig 5.1(English and French) or Stereo Surround in Spanish. There are subtitles in those languages as well. There are no "Extras" to speak of except a Theatrical Trailer, but it does come with a very informative booklet on the making of the film, some trivia and some production notes.

Light the Fuse of an action lover with this one......Laurie

Summary: Blown Away By A Great Movie
Review: Tommy Lee Jones conveys the tension of a man vitalized by the dynamics of religious fervor, ideological patriotism, and post-modern political psychopathy. Jeff Bridges portrays a man seeking to find peace in a world of English colonialism and Irish rebellion. U2's "With or Without You" is the perfect background to Tommy Lee Jones' "Freedom Dance". Great special effects, good music, and a moving story motivated by 800 years of colonialism. After you enjoy the movie order "1916 : A Novel of the Irish Rebellion" for an extremely captivating account of the Anglo-Irish Conflict.

Summary: It is easy to say, this flim will blow you away!
Review: Tommy Lee Jones is at his insane and malevolent-genius best as Ryan Garrity, an escaped I.R.A. bomber. He has the film's most chilling line, when he calls Jeff Bridges and says "I've come to create a new country called chaos, and a new government called anarchy."

Great special effects, not in the bombs but the close ups of everyday devices we see (?) Garrity use to make his weapons. When the phone is reconnected, or the oven ignited, we know that a huge conflagration will follow. It is fascinating, and among the more gripping scenes of the movie.

Why the "pros' dog this out is beyond me. Neither it nor Jones are wacky. It is more spellbinding that just the reviews suggest.

The music of U-2 makes a great backdrop to the impending action. Forrest Whittaker and Lloyd Bridges make great supporting cast members.
