Summary: Not as Flashy as Tarntino's other films, but still very good
Review: This may be Tarantino's most serious film. I say serious, because most of his films always have a sense of irony and humor under evry theme. This still has alot of humor and irony, but it is far more tragic than his other films. This is also far less flashy than his next two crime epics. Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown both have visuals to die for, and this one is far more restrained. This is bloody. Very bloody. It is also very hard to view at times (more or less because of what you don't see, as oposed to what you do see), yet it is always very striking and potent. Violence is glamorized, but it is also given as a very realistic fact of society. The film does seem to drag towards the end, but it still is a very excellent debut from an obviously promising director.

Review: I totally love this flick. I'm no Tarantinite, but I do respect his original and, I must say, ballsy work. An outstanding cast including Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi (whose Mr. Pink is, in my opinion, the standout of this film), an interesting and creatively done storyline and lots of gratuitous violence and language, Reservoir Dogs is certainly worth the great praise given by critics and fans alike. Warning, though, it's not for the weak-stomached or easily offended. But if you can take it, watch it! And watch carefully - this is what brilliance looks like.

Summary: Resevoir Dogs
Review: Resevoir Dogs, in my opinion, is one of Tarantino's best films, if not his best. I have heard many people complain about the ending, well what do they want? Do they want a clean, simple, expected ending? I sure didn't want that. And if anything, what makes Quentin Tarantino's movies so unique is the way at the end he always gives you something that you never expected on seeing. It gives a definite realism to the characters and the plot which he quickly wraps you up in throughout the movie.

Review: A classic, and every connoisseur of modern film should own it. Tarantino's best film so far, 'Reservoir Dogs' has the human comedy of 'Pulp Fiction' without the contrived coolness of the later film. The characters are superb, and it's enthralling to watch the friendship between Mr. Orange and Mr. White develop throughout the film. Mr. Blonde is Michael Madsen's best role to date, and he comes across as a genuine psycho; especially during the notorious ear-removal scene - which, despite what the moral majority (and the censors) would have you think, doesn't feature any explicit violence at all.

Summary: The best movie of the 90s
Review: I can't get over all the bad reviews here. Guess what--if you don't like violence, don't go see a Quentin Tarantino movie (and the violence in this movie is nothing compared to what you'll see in a Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street flick.) You don't see me ranting all over every Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts film, do you? No, because I know I'll hate them so I don't even bother. Anyway, back to this one--this is one of the most awesome movies of all time. The dialogue is the kicker here--sure, the story has been done before (what story hasn't?), but what makes this film unique is in the way that it is handled. I love the first scene where they are in the diner--this is a line of conversation you might have with your friends at breakfast. The acting is awesome, and everything seems so realistic. Don't do anything else when you watch this movie--listen to the dialogue, listen to the music, which is fantastic, kick back and enjoy.

Review: Tarantino is a fake, from beginning to end. But putting this fact aside and judging only the movie, not the man behind the cameras, you'll see this is a good movie, although violent and exaggerated. The acting is very good, the budget is low (and this is a merit for Tarantino). Anyway, we soon saw how limited this director is when not dealing with violence and ideas he steals from older movies, comic books and songs.

Summary: Arguably a Watershed Film for the 90's
Review: I luckily saw this when it first came out in the theatre and I like the others felt we witnessed something very daring and YES original. Unfortunately the only theatre in Sacramento which ran it pulled it after 2 weeks. Independent films did not enjoy the PR campaigns they do today. Its not necessarily the overt language or the violence but a real palpable feeling that these characters are capable of doing anything at any moment. Strangely this was the first film I ever saw that dealt with the devastating consequences of violence. (Yes a .38 caliber bullet really hurts!) This film was a true watershed along with other great smaller films that came out at that time. (Bad Lieutanant, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Henry and June, Howards End, Cinema Paradiso, La Femme Nikita, Barcelona, She's Gotta Have It, and Twin Peaks on tv) Dogs will be looked on as one of the seminal pictures for future film students of the 90's. Its a film made by a director who was hungry to put his ideas on film. Unlike a lot of mainstream film that are calculated, trite, and so eager to please. Fortunately great directors and studios such as Miramax, Sony Pictures Classics, Samuel Goldwyn Pictures and others helped pave the way to today. (No I won't whine that the purity of independent film has gone down since Miramax was swallowed by Disney, this is Hollywood after all.)
