Summary: Where'd it go?
Review: What happend to the DVD, and why is it discontinued? Huh. Maybe their coming out with a new one. But a note to tower 6, the DVD is not over matted, it is shown in its exact theretical aspect ratio. It is completely normal for the picture to be cut off; it was not shot in panavision. This is a comon mistake. Look at DVD's with a widescreen verson of 1:85:1 and then look at the full frame verson. You can tell that there is picture cut off. This is because the film was shot using a Panaflex camera which caputres the film in an aproxamate ratio of 1:44:1, which for some reason is formated so it will either be 1:85:1 or 2:35:1 in the theater.But anyway, the movie is great. And whimps that don't like the violence should have looked into the movie more before viewing it, because this film has been considered violent by many critics. And, for one thing, Pulp Fiction is not more or less violent then this. In other words, THIS MOVIE IS GREAT!

Summary: Great Movie, lightweight DVD
Review: This movie is great, and you don't see the ear being cut off contrary to popular belief. There isn't much else on the DVD except to flip it over and watch the 4:3 aspect version I'm giving 5 for the movie. I'd give 1 for the DVD package

Summary: Too violent for my taste!!!
Review: Okay, Tarantino is a great director and actor. I really like most of his movies and I consider Pulp Fiction as a superb movie. But, I dont like Resevoir Dogs. Why? Because it contains so much terrible violence and blood. For example when Mr. Blonde (Micheal Madsen) takes a inocent cop and destroy his outlook totally. He takes a knife and cut up the cops face and cut of his whole ear, so he looks extremely ugly and bloody!!! Discusting! OKay, if you really love watching blood you should rather buy Peter Jackson`s Bad Taste or Braindead.
All in all, Resevoir Dogs is a stupid movie with too much discusting violence and blood. Save your money and considerable time! Watch other movies!

Summary: A top notch Crime-Drama, with a Tarantino twist.
Review: Reservior Dogs is the story of a perfect crime thrown into chaos by a criminal who is really an undercover cop. The robbery gets botched, a lot of people die, the remaining theives regroup at the rendevous point to wait for their leader, and try to smoke out which one of them is the rat. (I guess this film proves that old saw: There is no honor among theives.) Simple plot, wonderful execution. Writer/Director/Actor Quentin Tarantino serves up some great dialogue and plot twists, and the Actors (Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Lawrence Tierney, Chris Penn, & Steve Buscemi) are all at the top of their games. The only thing keeping this film from a perfect 5 is the same beef I had when I saw it all those years ago: Without giving anything away, I'll just say this- I don't care if a sting will nab Hitler, Manson, Atilla the Hun and The Devil all at once, no Police Officer is going to stand by and do nothing while another Officer, or Two, (or the Cilivians in the Jewelry store) are ruthlessly slaughtered. Too far-fetched. But if you can suspend the disbelief for 90 minutes, this IS a great film. The DVD has Widescreen format on one side, standard on the other, and really has no extras except for the trailer and some interesting production notes. Just as a word of warning: the DVD comes with a little ad touting the "Reservoir Dogs 10th Anniversary Collectors Edition DVD" coming this June, so if you're looking for extras, you might want to wait until then.

Summary: Modern Classic
Review: The dialog in this movie is top notch. Steve Buscemi is great as "Mr. Pink." However, as a bartender, I have heard people steal his "I don't believe in tipping" speach one to many times. I agree with the Boss-man: "You will leave your two bucks like everybody else."

Summary: An effective, but wildly overrated, debut
Review: Tarantino's RESERVOIR DOGS was certainly one of the most influential films of its decade, and was one of the splashiest directing debuts in American film history. But just because it was enormously influential doesn't mean its necessarily that good: enormously derivative, it delivers a tremendous adrenaline surge but mostly through a nearly-slavish glorification of physcial cruelty. The famous "Stuck in the Middle with You" scene makes no apologies for its depiction of extreme sadism as the last word in cool: you might feel slightly sickened afterwards not by the actions of the character played by Michael Madsen but by the director in urging you to idolize the character. Nevertheless, you can see Tarantino trying out the techniques that would later lead to his actual triumphs with PULP FICTION and JACKIE BROWN.

Summary: Great movie, but wait for a better DVD.
Review: It's DVDs like this one that give the widescreen format a bad name. The film is over-matted at 2.32:1 and despite what the widescreen format should do, this actually cuts off some of the top and bottom of the screen. Proof - watch the beginning of Chapter 2 on the Pan & Scan side, then watch it on the widescreen side. Harvey Keitel's head is almost completely cut off the bottom of the screen on the widescreen side. We hear him talking, but only see the top of his hair and occasionally his eyes. It's terrible when taking into consideration that his entire face can be seen on the Pan & Scan side. Why was the movie incorrectly formatted this way? I'll be waiting to rebuy this if and when they re-release it properly. It's still a great movie though and definitely worth owning.

Summary: BRUTAL
Review: You have to like Tarantino's gritty,unapologetic portrayals of the criminal underworld and the inherent violence that comes with the territory,but this movie isn't all that great.In Pulp Fiction he had an underlying message,not to mention humor.This film is just violence stocked on top of violence where all the characters die one by one.The message is clear:crime doesn't pay,but beyond buckets of blood it offers little else for the imagination.The actors are all superb and the condensed time frame gives the film undeniable suspense,but beyond what is patently obvious there is nothing else to the film.It was a first effort by Tarantino ,and as far as that goes the film is o.k.,but it is not a film worth watching twice.

Summary: Man cannot live on blood alone
Review: Well, if you like to watch people bleeding for 100 minutes, then this is the movie for you. I thought this was going to be a good caper story about a heist gone wrong. Yes, it was about a heist gone wrong, but it wasn't very good. The big mystery didn't keep me in much suspense, because Tarantino gave it away 20 minutes before the movie ended! The characters were all 2-dimensional. I could basically predict each character's move after watching the first scene. I would recommend "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" way over this movie.

Summary: No punches held...!
Review: Quentin Tarantinos debut shocker from 1992 was a minor revolution in action movies. It uses some of the "dogma" style that some danish directors are now famous for.
The story is simple really, a well planned but fataly bungled jewel heist takes place. Most of the movie is view back to what happened before and during the heist. The movie got a perfect cast among others Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel(and Lawrence Tierney in his best role since forever).
The movie don't hold any punches and it is very violent in its expression, but also seem very sincere.
Sometimes you get a feeling that there is no script but that the actors make up what they say themself, and that they really ARE having a good time. It seems that the interaction between the actors are perfect in this gem of a movie. Look out for Edward Bunker as mr. Blue.
