Summary: Violent to the point of senseless,an aged movie not cool now
Review: I'll give the director this much: few films have ever gotten me thinking so much about why I dislike them. Actually, I would have just walked out on the thing and be done with it, but the movie's undeserved reputation caused me to wonder if I'd missed something in my rush to judgement (and, not coincidentally, to the exit). I suspect I didn't miss much. There's a lot to dislike about "Reservoir Dogs". The film's violence is legendary, as is its potty-mouthed dialog, but neither of those are necessarily bad things in a movie (even a classic such as Glengarry Glen ross has a comparative frequency of the f-word). No, what's unforgivable in this movie is the way the director revels in his ability to offend the viewer. The stage is set in the diner scene, as the cast takes turns mouthing cleverly-scripted yet coldly unfunny trash talk, and by all accounts reaches its climax in the bloody scene that finally got me to walk out of the theater, 20 minutes after I first felt the urge. But never mind the blood and guts--though one suspects that if Tarantino had directed "Fargo," it would consist of little more than shots of the woodchipper in use. The diner scene pretty much spells out that the director's not interested in making the viewer laugh or think, but only to make him recoil. Terentino is undoubtedly skilled at this, but it's not the sort of reaction I'm willing to pay to experience, as one gets enough of that for free these days. I loved Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown because they truly do justice to Terentino's class as a moviemaker, but if this movie had anything going for it, it was, to use a politically incorrect but pithy neo-American phrase, the "shock and awe" of its times.

Summary: Tough Guys
Review: Resevoir Dogs was a knockout! I thouroughly enjoyed its creativity from the very first scene on. Quentin Tarantino's clout is so noticeable in all of his movies, but he really hit it big with this one. The movies that he writes and directs (True Romance, Jackie Brown) all have such dynamic characters and actors that portray them. It is truly fascinating to watch a Tarantino film. This one took the cake though. The resevoir dogs really were tough. Steve Buscemi stole the show as Mr Pink. Tim Roth also did a fantastic performance. All of them did though. It was just an amazing movie that is probably most enjoyable (as all Tarantino films are) in a college group of friends. This is not a kid movie at all. Its R rating reflects strong graphic violence and pervasive strong language. If you can overlook that however, you're in for a real treat with Resevoir Dogs.

Review: This is without a doubt the best movie i have seen. It is simply a joy to watch.
The opening sequence is hilarious, but really establishes this for what it is. That being an honest film.
All the guys, robbers, thieves etc.. arre sitting around a table.
Now, you might think glancing at the coverage that this is a tough, manly movie right?, well yes u are right.
The men a discussing Madonna, yes thats right Madonna, how they like her, what they dont like etc....
Why would tough guys like this be doing this, you and they majority of the worlds generic film audiences ask??? Becuase they are HUMAN!!!!.
Gangsters dont just sit around shining their bullets, talking about murders, and that is what is so great about this film, it shows us the human side to everything.... It is not about the robbery , its about the characters,and as this marvel of a film unveils it gets better and more entertaining as the facts are revieled to us.. Summary: It's not about the caper; its about the bloody aftermath.
Review: This 1992 film by Quentin Tarantino is creative, brilliant and has the force of a bullet at high speed. And speaking of guns and bullets, there sure is no shortage of them here. It's all about a diamond heist gone wrong. It's not about the caper though. It's about the bloody aftermath. It opens with the would-be robbers having coffee in a restaurant. They're smoking cigarettes and telling tall tales and, and even though they never mention the future robbery, they're getting to know each other and doing their one-upmanship macho thing. Their real names are secrets. Their leader, an older gruff veteran of similar heists, Lawrence Tierney, has forbidden them to use real names and, with the exception of Eddie, the tough guy's son played by Chris Penn, we only know them as Mr. White, Mr. Orange, Mr. Blonde and Mr. Pink. After that first scene, the credits are flashed on the screen. The actual opening scene of the film is with Harvey Keitel driving a car with a wounded Tim Roth in the back seat. Later, they meet up with the others, Michael Masden and Steve Buscemi in an abandoned warehouse. There is much confrontation, more bloodshed. There's also a cop whose been taken prisoner, Kirk Baltz, who winds up being the victim of Michael Masden's unflinching cruelty. The dialog is fast and brilliant. The flashbacks are quick and come at just the right time to enrich the story. The characters are placed in a pressure-cooker situation where their true colors eventually come out. It's incredibly violent. But it's the character development that is what is really important. The acting is uniformly terrific. And how it all plays out is inevitable. The DVD has some great interviews with some of the actors and with Tarantino himself. Each interview is less than ten minutes; each has a different background; and each is about a unique experience in the filming of Reservoir Dogs. These extras were enjoyable, interesting and enriched my experience of the film. This is a groundbreaking work with the hint of genius. I loved it. I therefore highly recommend this film for anyone not afraid of copious amounts of make-believe blood and gore.

Summary: Great movie, so-so DVD
Review: The audio commentary was the biggest disappointment. The bonus interviews were pretty cool, but I was really looking forward to the audio track. Far too much audio commentary is done by the photographer, film editor, and film executives. Not too many people care about their take. We want to hear Quentin more. And Chris Penn, and Tim Roth, etc. The stars did lend some commentary, but it's lost among all the other [comments] that's in there. Does anyone other than a few industry professionals care about how the cameraman moved his camera back and forth in a car-chase scene?

Summary: Absolutely Amazing
Review: What is it about "badness" that attracts us so much? Why does it seem like our favorite movies are mob, gangster, and criminal movies. Not just because these types of movies allow action that cannot be seen in other movies, but the "bad-boy" type allows us to see a side of society that is not often witnessed first hand, in this way we believe we acquire a knowledge of crime and we are satisfied with good entertainment. Quentin Tarantino' "Reservoir Dogs" surely brings to us a highly entertaining, crime movie. In this movie the director never shows the actual heist, instead chooses to show events before and after the robbery, to reveal each character's personality. The following thrilling events involve backstabbing and treason, guns and blood, (like in the "ear" scene). Also included in this 2 disc set are a widescreen version and a standard version (i find having 2 formats useless) many interviews, many commentaries, many special features, with a cool menu (all of Tarantino'sfilm have cool, interactive menus). This movie provides great entertainment and an insight into human behavior. Have Fun.

Summary: Reservoir Cockroaches
Review: This movie was pointless, had no plot, and was all too excessive in language and violence. Now, I'm not a whiny crybaby who cries a river everytime a swear is uttered or everytime bullets rip through chest cavities. But this movie goes above and beyond to the point that even the shock value is lost. Quentin Tarentino's directing of "Pulp Fiction" was a one-time fluke. He got lucky. All his other films have revealed otherwise, and Reservoir Quasi-Actors is no exception. The soundtrack sucks. I mean, there was good music in the 70's, albeit not much, but Tarentino makes a habit of choosing only the worst monstrosities in music history for this film. You'd think with a storyline so brainless and predictable, even Mr. Brown himself could've kept it from contradicting itself in so many places. But no. Mr. White blows away two cops during a getaway, then helps to torture a third cop, then suddenly finds it in his heart to criticize Mr. Yellow for trying to torture the cop some more.
Second, some crusty old prune is in charge of these Larrys, Curlys, and Moes of bank robbery, and he barks out orders like a drill instructor. Ok, why is this gang of tough, brute outlaws so deathly afraid of this fossil? What backup does this guy have besides his spaghetti-inhaling son? Two bullets. BAM! BAM! Ok, now the walking zombie isn't in charge anymore. Now we won't have to hear him refer to a robbery as a "caper" anymore.
Third, if the police had known of the robbery in advance, and had known the logistics, the escape plan, the number of people involved, the weapons they were using, and the psychological makeup of each thief, you can bet that the police ambush would be so well manned and planned that there would be NO WAY a group of five unsuspecting criminals would be able to shoot their way out. The police would have SWAT teams pre-deployed, escape routes cut off, and nothing left to chance.
Fourth, if the cop's goal was to catch the big boss, fine. But there's not a law enforcement organization in the country that would allow a robbery to occur, for innocent people to be murdered, and to let fugitives roam unchecked around the city...all while the cops wait at the rendezvous site for a crime boss to make the idiotic move of actually showing up after it's revealed that the plan was compromised.
Fifth, why on earth does the undercover cop reveal to Mr. White who he is? What sense did that make except to tie the knot to the end of a killjoy movie? Ignore the five star ratings of those so blindfully loyal to the "Indie" genre that they're willing to sacrifice their reputation on this yawn-inducing, wannabe shock flick. Even shock value can coincide with a decent plot and good acting. This foul abortion does neither. Save your money and two hours of your life.

Summary: Intelligent Gangster Movie
Review: This is an intelligent cross between mobster and typical gangster movies. Unlike many where the people are too drunk, stoned or incompetent, this is much more realistic. The actors do a bang-up job of playing their parts. The cinematography and editing are great. The sound is great, especially the soundtrack. You get to see snippets into the future, so you have some idea of what might happen, but the suspense makes you watch all of it unfold. Probably in the top 50 of my 2000+ films, perhaps in top 25. Watch those colors, boys!

Summary: A Wonderful Achievement In Film Making
Review: Yes. This film definitely demands a major aquired taste. It is the most ruthless, gruesome, blood-fest I have ever seen. This one tops "Saving Private Ryan." Except for that movie, the violence is shown as sad and honorable, but the violence in this film is completely more vile. I am not saying I did not like this movie, because I love it, just that it is extremely grotesque. I bought this after loving "Pulp Fiction" to pieces, and had to see what all the hype was about. I wouldn't go as far as saying that this is better than "Pulp Fiction," but it sure does come in close. Trust me, this is so much more violent than any other movie you've seen. It's not just the violence, it's the way it's presented. Quentin Tarantino sticks with the same recipe for all his films; profane, disturbing, darkly comical, gruesome, and ruthless. But I would have to say that this film tops them all. In every one of his films, he puts in a few highly memorable yet disturbing scenes that rule the cinema. For example, the syringe full of adrenaline in "Pulp Fiction." However, in "Reservoir Dogs," there is one huge scene that's glued in my mind. It is a scene more evil than anything shown in "The Exorcist" and twice as gory. If you saw this movie, you know what scene I'm talking about. It is extremely intense and very sad. You've been warned. This is basically the good version of a "chick flick." It has emotional scenes that jerk your feelings around. The end is very powerful, the perfect thing to end a movie with. However, don't see this expecting to see a "chick flick" because IT'S NOT! I wouldn't be eating while watching this, it's a film you need to pay much attention to and has you glued in...although I wouldn't reccomend eating for other reasons. The 10th Anniversary DVD is quite nice...I got the Mr. Brown version because it was signed by Quentin Tarantino and because he is the creator, even though he has a small role in the film. I don't see why the second disc is fullscreen which is completely unnecessary, but oh well. I'm not complaining. It is a very great purchase and will keep you coming back to watch over and over...if you can stand the content. An overall wonderful film that I will always be proud to have in my DVD library.

Review: Quentin Tarantino's classic RESEVOIR DOGS is one of my favorite films - gritty, cringe-worthy, entertaining, and dark, it is a flawless masterpiece. This DVD is also a great way to view the film and is a must for Quentin Tarantino fans. This is a must-see film, and must be seen to be believed. Highly recommended!
