Summary: Very clever!
Review: This was my first Ewan McGregor/Danny Boyle film... and I LOVED every second of it. The story is amusing, gripping, attention-grabbing and more; all of it is very Hitchcock-esque. I don't want to give away the plot, although from the other reviews I'm sure you can figure it out. Shallow Grave is a great thriller. All I can say is SEE THIS MOVIE!

Summary: I'll never look at a hardware store the same way again!
Review: A friend of mine recommended "Shallow Grave" to me, as he knows I have a taste for off beat, quirky movies. Little did I know what a great ride I was in for!

Three boorish young Brits decide they need to find a new flat mate. They harry every poor sod who comes calling and finally decide on a rather quiet bloke. Gee, he seems perfect...shouldn't cause much fuss at all. Until they find him dead from a massive drug overdose! And let's not forget that satchel full of money! To say that they get creative with the disposal of the body is an understatement.

From there, pure paranoia ensues. Not to mention a brilliantly scathing commentary on how money can ruin even the greatest of friendships.

But the ending...what an ending! Honestly, I didn't see it coming!! (And here I thought I was fairly astute at catching things like this!)

Enjoy! ;)

Summary: Scifi Shallow Grave
Review: They sould put this on scifi and let a grow-up watch it with you I did't. I went O, my god no away he did that. In the movie a guy die's in the bed and three roomates fine him in the room dead. I am not going to tell you what happen's next go and get the movie yourself OK. I think (the night of the living dead) is like this moive but you don't fine dead people runing around with there head's gone. The cast play a good part in the moive that what I think do you? If you seen the (children of the corn) you got to see shallow grave. when I saw it once and I could not eat when the movie was on but now I can because I seen it already.

PS. Get to know your roomate you never know.

Summary: Descent into murderous paranoia
Review: This was the first of the Boyle/McDonald/Hodge/McGregor filmic collaborations and what a fantastic debut! The story of three flatmates who discover their new flatmate dead and a wad of cash - it's a beguiling premise and one that would certainly give anyone second thoughts. It certainly doesn't spoil the plot to say that they take the cash but there the problems begin.
The three leads are uniformly excellent with Ewan McGregor showing the talent that would push him to movie stardom (and I don't mean "that" talent, for all you watchers of The Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine). However it's Kerry Fox who is the most outstanding here and proves what a consistently underrated actress she is. Her character plays a game with both of her male flatmates, trying to make sure she is on the "winning" side.
There is plenty of evidence here of Danny Boyle's directorial finesse which is why Hollywood have come calling - if only he hadn't answered their call..................

Summary: Too funny
Review: If you liked Trainspotting and Run Lola Run this movie is definitely for you. It's got a really fast pace, good beat and an interesting and twisty plot. It also got Ewan McGregor (enough said). The ending is really good too.

Summary: "How to Cash In on an Empty Room......."
Review: Suppose you and your mates had a spare room to rent and found just the right guy [or gal for that matter]to move in. THEN later, the new roomie turns up dead - plus a suitcase stashed in said room with body filled to the brim with 'quite alot of cash' ----- what to do??

NOW that's just where the fun starts in this one - and boy, do we learn quite a lot about 'close friendship' [err 'trust?'] in this one!

Quite a few nasty moments, including rendering the 'roomie' faceless shall we say?

Along the lines of "The Infernal Trio" [somewhat] and "Single White Female".

Excellent performances - but quite a different view of "Friends".

Summary: Rarely do I give a movie 5 Stars
Review: 'Shallow Grave' will surprise you. At first, you might think 'what's all the fuss about', but when the movie starts developing it will steal all of your attention. Only since 'Black Christmas' has a movie captivated me with its sheer eeeriness and scare factor. Shallow Grave is edge of your seat suspense thriller which can be viewed over and over again. Despite it's violence and scare factor, it has some entertaining scenes - black comedy to be precise ... but I promise you one thing - you will love this movie. I dont want to give anything away - just buy it! Note though that the DVD version contains no extras but the movie enough is worth having. the art work on the USA version is much better than the Australian cover.

Summary: Ewan, as usual, is the attraction.
Review: Similar to other reviews here, I bought the dvd for the chance to stare at Ewan McGregor a little bit more (I can't seem to get enough of him these days). I wasn't concerned with the movie, really, at all, when I bought it, but it was one of the most suspenseful movies I have seen in a long time. Talk about heart-pounding, I sat on the edge of my couch from beginning til ending. I am usually very adept at predicting the endings of movies but couldn't see this movie's ending coming at all. What a great surprise! I highly recommend renting this movie. It's great fun, and for those who aren't familiar with Ewan's work, he's really amazing to watch. Completely addictive.

Summary: WOW!!
Review: Danny Boyle has made a remarkable masterpiece titled "Shallow Grave". It's the best thriller made in a long time. Disturbing for its violent content at times, Shallow Grave provides what it's supposed to. Very haunting soundtrack works well with the amazing cinematography. Love this movie! A must see!!
