Review: I reserve the 4 and 5 Stars for the really, really, exceptional movies.This was, however, a very good action flick. I wouldn't watch this one again, but it was good for one shot! The scenario is pretty typical, hostages, stand-off on the high floor of an office building, swat teams, sharp-shooters, bad cops, good cops, no real gory stuff and not a lot of blow-em apart scenes, no overdone sex stuff either. Excellent performances by the leads. Worth watching... albeit once.

Review: This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Forget that I will watch anything with Kevin Spacey, I generally do not like police movies and nearly missed this one because of that. I was hostage to the tense psychological drama and first rate acting. One of the few movies I've not known the bad guy from the beginning, and was surprised at the outcome. A first rate job by both Jackson and Spacey. I'll be watching this one again and again.

Review: Kevin Spacey and Samuel L. Jackson are two of the best actors working today, and they're the two main reasons to see The Negotiator. The supporting cast is uniformly excellent, too. The plot stretches credulity more than once, but I was delighted by some of its twists that I didn't see coming.

Review: This movie created a sense of nervous engery which I would consider a "good thing". I mean, it was very interesting the way both main actors portrayed their characters into a situation that could happen or has happened in society. It sort of put me in the perspective of what a negotiator would do at his/her profession or someone who has strong demands to harm or control a situation.

Review: The plot, production, direction, & dialogue are all pretty formulaic, but what keeps this movie from becoming just another mindless "Lethal Weapon" style knockoff are the performances of Samuel L. Jackson & Kevin Spacey. They are two of the most gripping screen presences in cinema today, and even with standard cop movie lines, they deliver them with an intensity that is palpable. Nothing earth-shattering, but definitely worth checking out.
