Summary: Great date Movie!!!
Review: Clarence Wirly, (Cristian Slater) is a comic book/Elvis fan who meets his soulmate during Sonny Chiba double feature. Call girl Alabama, (Patricia Arquette)is involved with a lot of "bad people" namely a vindictive pimp,(Gary Oldhman). Couple fall in love immediately and decide to marry. Clarence decides it's his obligation to notify Oldhman of his wife's resignation. Instantly the viewer develops an admiration for the undying love that the two young adults share. The pair become fugitives after they accidentally receive the property of "bigger badder people". Clarence and Alabama are up against the wall in this love story that combines, violence,treachery and unyielding action. If you love this movie, hopefully you can share it with your significant other and recite the words. This movie is that good!!!!!!Look for a cameo featuring Samuel L. Jackson, who if you don't watch closely you won't see. Fantastic one on one scene featuring Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken, who sizzle with accusatory dialogue complete with timely humor. Pre-Tony Soprano, James Gandolfini heats up the screen with a brutal bathroom scene featuring Arquette and a lot of glass!!!!!!Brad Pitt is in a constant haze of smoke while perpetually layed out on the couch in a reefer stupor....These actors easily slide into their characters, especially Val Kilmer, clad in Elvis garb posing as Clarence's confident alter ego. Clarence seeks the guidance of Elvis when faced with unbeatable odds. We all know what happens in a good love story and this one lives up to the reputation.

Summary: A superb movie!! Except...
Review: This is just an excellent movie. Can't say how much I love it. The movie itself is a 5 star affair. The DVD version was a bit dissapointing. Only one thing makes it a 4 star. The soundtrack is not in Dolby Digital 5.1. It is only 2.0. Those of you who have Pro Logic recievers or tv's will never notice this. Those expecting the killer sound that 5.0 brings will be dissapointed however.Also, make sure you get the director's cut which is not rated. Very different from the R version. Totally different ending.

Summary: true ZOEmance
Review: "True Romance" is a great film. The cast, the story, and the acting are all top notch, the only discouraging thing about the film is how closely it parralells "Killing Zoe", another fine film, both of which were cut from Quentin Tarentino's same mold. Neither film is a waste of viewing time, but if you were to write a synopsis of both films, you would need to title both clearly for fear of getting them confused. Q.T. directed "Zoe" and worked on the screenplay for "Romance". It was rumored that he didn't want credit for "Romance" and judging by the subtlety of Tarentino's name in the credits (in a time when his name by itself would sell tickets) I believe it. If you go to rent either film, decide on how much Tarentino-ism your in the mood for. If it is full on Quentin, see "Killing Zoe", if you want a film with equally great tallent, a killer soundtrack, and an Arquette fix, see "True Romance" tonite.

Summary: Avoid the "R" Version - Director's Cut is Mandatory
Review: At all costs avoid the "R" rated version of this film. The distributor had significant cuts made in order to sell it at Walmarts and other middle-American cultural outlets. These aren't just minor changes - indeed, the ending of the "R" version is different than the "NR" Director's cut, and the violence is much reduced in several scenes. Make no mistake, the "R" version is a waste of money. Accept only the Director's cut and you won't be disappointed. All in all, a superb film, with everyone involved at the top of their respective games.

Summary: good film making, old idea
Review: The actual camera work and acting in this film is well done. it is entertaining, however not very original. this movie is much too similar to Terrence Mallicks Badlands. The score is exactly the same. If you are going to re-make a film, make it better. The problem I have with Terrentino, is he borrowes ideas and does not change them. it is one thing to borrow ideas, but at least use them to accent your own style. He has done nothing that really sets him apart from others. The films he has made have all been done, and done better i might add. His trade marks were all stolen from earlier film makers. this film is over rated, however it should be enjoyed if you are purely looking to be entertained.

Summary: True Romance = True Tarantino Classic!
Review: Okay, let's get the bad stuff out of the way first - the DVD extras are.... er, non-existent! There's nothing, not even an original trailer or cast list. Just the standard scene selection and that's it! That's a let down and a criminal waste of the DVD format, but let us not allow that to in any way cloud our judgement of what is basically an excellent film. This is Tarantino at his very best and if he didn't direct this one (he sold the script to pay for the making of Reservoir Dogs) it still displays his wonderful talent for creating a story. Tarantino is in love with dialogue and bless him for that; every film he makes has that conversation you just don't get in other movies. While other directors and writers are making sure that every last line is essential to the plot, QT is giving his actors lines that aren't integral to the story but which enrich the finished product and crank up the level of entertainment. This film is an outstanding example of that talent. The cast list in this film is impressive to say the least. Of the two main characters, Christian Slater is outstanding as Clarence Whirly, while Patricia Arquette shines as the dizzy Alabama. Dennis Hopper, Christoper Walken, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Brad Pitt (amongst others) add some serious muscle to the 'bit parts' and the end result is class film from start to finish. Stand-out scenes for me are the two when a stoned Floyd (Brad Pitt) shops his friends to the mob guys and the scene in the trailer between Walken and Hopper. With actors of this calibre the scenes can't fail. I wouldn't quite have this up there alongside Pulp Fiction but if you like the genre then it's an aboslute must for your collection. It's smart, intelligent, funny, ever-so-violent and a roller-coaster ride throughout. If you can watch this and not enjoy yourself then I'd suggest somebody checks to see if you've still got a pulse!!!

Summary: I'm The Anti-Christ - Christopher Walken
Review: I first saw this movie when I was 10 and I fell in love with the star studded performances by the cast, but I wish Brad Pitt and Christopher Walken had longer scenes. I did not know Tarantino wrote this until a year ago and I was amazed. The best scene is with Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper because it's a pretty scary situation what one of them are going through and the dialogue is superb but vulgar. This is a movie everyone should own because you will not get bored when watching it over and over again.

Review: True Romance is a cult classic that bombed at the box office despite having a cast to die for. Christian Slater delivers a career best performance and Patricia Arquette is dead sexy as his wife Alabama. A cool soundtrack and some great cameos from Brad Pitt, Tom Sizemore, Samuel L Jackson, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken and Gary Oldman make this a Bonnie & Clyde for the 90's, only Bonnie & Clyde were never this good. Check out the directors cut if you can, its mega violent. Quite simply the hippest film of the 90's

Review: Forget about all other movies...this one takes the cake... you want dialogue...you want action...awesome music...visual stimulation? we've got it all. a great love story bookended by gunfights and drug deals. you want stars...heck samuel l. jackson and brad pitt have the two smallest roles in the flick- even tony soprano gets in the act. dissapointed by the long awaited dialogue between pacino and deniro in heat..check out dennis hopper and christopher walken for the best scene ever filmed. watch this movie again and again

Summary: Pretty good...weird, extremely violent, Christian Slater...
Review: This is pretty messed up. There are a few scenes that were so violent I curled up into a ball and cried for hours before unpausing the movie. Overall, it's a good piece of cinema (if you can stand Christian Slater's constant Jack Nicholson impression) from Quentin Tarantino (he wrote it, but didn't direct). Some dialogue that would later pop up in PULP FICTION, but that's ok.
