Summary: The Best American Film of 1995
Review: Braveheart? Leaving Las Vegas? I don't think so. Heat is by far the best Hollywood entry from 1995. It is a perfect portrait of two men who are very similar, but on opposite sides of the law, pure and simple. It is a simple story, but it is extended into a sweeping epic, which most audiences loved, despite the length. And it ranks with Unforgiven, Short Cuts, Glengarry Genn Ross, Carlito's Way, and others as one of the best mainstream, American dramas of the decade (1991-2000).

Summary: Excellent for type.
Review: Definitely not for the "peanut gallery" of vid viewers: much too complex, too many characters to keep up with, relationships intertwined, betrayals, loyalties. In short, you need to be awake and intelligent to follow the story. You will NOT be disappointed. The action starts fast and continues. Great acting with one exception: Al Pacino. He struts in his lifts, emphasizing his gravelly voice as if to gain some height, is arrogant and demeaning to everyone in his life and as he explains, his life is getting who he's after. Anyhow, the arrogant little $#@!%& is determined to snare De Niro and his crew, a threesome of disparate men with unswerving loyalty to De Niro. You will know from the tone of the action and dialogue that Pacino will prevail, either by getting knocked off by someone who simply cannot stand him, or by getting De Niro, which is so painfully obvious that it could never happen in life. But, this two casette video is directed by Michael Mann who, if you will remember, directed Miami Vice on TV; Manhunter, the first movie about Thomas Harris's character, Hannibal Lecter; Thief, starring James Caan (one of the all-time great movies); Last of the Mohicans, with Daniel Day Lewis. Let's get real here ... Michael Mann wielding the brush, with De Niro, like Atlas, supporting the canvas, and with Pacino, Tom Sizemore, Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, and bunches of others, supplying the colors --- mixed and primary --- have we got a great movie or what. It is definitely a MUST BUY and is a NEVER sell it!

Summary: Stanard Excellent Performace by De Niro and Pacino
Review: I bought this movie used from the video store as soon as I could. Great cops and robbers story with the typical excellent performaces from Robert and Al. One let down of the movie is that there is only one sceen with the two of them and it was kind of lame. Other than that a really great movie. I suggest you wait for it to come out on DVD. Don't have a DVD player, buy one. DVD is the future and the prices are reasonable. Once you get DVD you will hate watching VHS.

Summary: Excellent movie!
Review: This one's surely one of the better movies of the decade (and of all time). The DeNiro/Pacino combination is outstanding, and both their characters are involved in creating much more than just an ordinary action movie. It surely deserves a bigger audience than Titanic and Independence Day. You're stuck to the screen for three exciting hours. Brilliant!

Summary: Superb Plot, Great Action
Review: I would go as far to say that "Heat" is one of the greatest action movies ever. Tremendous plot, excellent character development, gripping action sequences; this movie has it all. Unlike the brainless movies like "Independence Day" and "Eraser", "Heat" is driven by its plot and brilliant acting.

Summary: A great remake. Sound recording of the gunfire is perfect!
Review: Despite the not-too-bright storyline, Heat (a remake of LA Breakdown) keeps your eyes on the screen all the time. The gunfire sequences are the best-sounding ever. Rifles do sound like rifles and handguns sound like handguns. Pacino and Di Niro require no comments. They're on top of the food chain. Film does get a little slow at times (romantic sequences are iffy at best), but it doesn't let you fall asleep.

Review: IMHO, the most underrated film of the decade. Probably due to its length, but then Titanic somehow did well and it was a lousy film. Anyway, I have nothing more to add to the exsiting comments.

Summary: Intense
Review: At the time of the release of Heat I was living in Belgium, where day light assaults to armoured money transport trucks were taking place routinely. The nature of these assaults was featured without exaggeration in Heat. A few things make Heat a good movie. First, it takes the spectator through a wavy tempo of intensity- downcooling- intensity similar to the scale of Private Ryan's. Then, Robert de Niro and Al Paccino undertake a tour de force of excellent acting from minute one till the very end of Heat. Finally, I noticed that the viewer develops a sense of sympathy for both Paccino and De Niro, the good and the bad. One is taken through three hours of film without even noticing. At the end one is overflowing with adrenaline, drained by the action and ready to view it once again. A five star reccomendation.

Review: Al Pacino and Robert Deniro combine to make this movie one of the most exciting of thier careers. Lots of action and a plot that pulls you in and makes you part of the film. Great film to own.
