Summary: The Best Heist Movie Ever Made
Review: Director Michael Mann's 1995 film is certainly the best bank caper movie ever made. In addition to having great character studies of both the criminals (De Niro, Sizemore, Kilmer), it also studies those of the cops (Pacino.) Without a doubt, this movie has one of the best shootout scenes I have ever seen in any movie besides a war film.

Impeccable acting on the part of De Niro, who's looking to do one last heist before quitting the game. Although Pacino also delivers a powerful performance as the cop, I found it to be more of the same hysterics as in virtually all of his other roles (i.e. Scarface, Scent of a Woman, etc.) Val Kilmer and Ashley Judd also delivered a great performance.

A very entertaining film with the right balance of drama and action to keep you on the edge of your seats. Definitely the crown of all bank heist films.

Summary: Best shoot-out I have ever seen in a movie.
Review: Okay, you have Pacino and De Niro. Brilliant detective vs. brilliant criminal. Reminiscent to Mann's early film Thief (James Caan, 1981), the bad guy (De Niro) wants to retire from his life of crime and finds the perfect woman with whom to share his life. While De Niro tries to complete his personal life Pacino's charcter's personal life is falling apart. Both realize their priorities, but this crime is getting in the way with a life of its own.

Great action throughout the movie. However, the best movie shoot-out ever filmed makes this a must-see. Did the real-life bank robbers in the infamous North Hollywood shoot-out (1997) see Heat? It was like life imitating art with a similar tragic ending. This is one film that truly delivers on its title.

Summary: Did they say Heat??? b/c this movie is SMOKING
Review: I was actually stunned to discover that this was the FIRST pairing of Pacino and De Niro. How is possible they have not done a film together up until this point??? They are both just amazing, old school, and completely different. Their scenes together are terrific. I love the idea that the career cop and the career criminal have SO much in common.

This is a damn good movie. Al Pacino yells too much--as per his usual arrangement--but other than that, damn good film. Ashley Judd delivers the first solid performance I personally saw her give--she was shaky in some other things I'd seen PRIOR to this. But it seemed like once she delivered this role, she turned out some great performances in other things. So perhaps her earlier performances were casting issues, direction, or what have you. But it changed my opinion of her certianly.

As a matter of fact, the BEST scene of the movie--and that is saying A LOT--and really one of the most touching movie scenes of complicated love relationships occurs between Ashley and Val. In the scene she is forced by law enforcement to ID her husband when he pulls up--after she's called and told him to come get her. Val pulls up, wounded in his bank heist, he is struggling to hold it together, but he scans the area. When his eyes fall on her, pure joy comes over his face. Ashley's face is full of complex emotions. She smiles but her eyes show some tears developing. She makes one small gesture with her hand--a shaking hand--and Val knows. He knows that the police are there and that they will not be together. He will have to be on the run alone. Oh, man! Not a word of dialogue passes between them, but it is so powerful!

Val Kilmer delivers here too. Good plot, nice twists, interesting characters. WAINGROW is probably the best just jerk-oof bad guy in years!!! [You can also see this actor in KNOCKAROUND GUYS] Nicely done. Dennis Haybert does a great job as an ex-con TRYING to go straight, pissed on at every turn, giving into the old life and paying the ultimate price. He in this single role demonstrates the reasons ppl wind up in prison again and again.

This is just very simply a terrific movie.

Summary: First pairing of 2 greats: DeNiro and Pacino
Review: ...and what a match. These two consummate actors play cops in this riveting cops-and-robbers flick. DeNiro plays the master thief, while Pacino plays the experienced LA detective who intuits that cop and criminal lead similar lives: both are so fixated on the nuances of their respective professions that they allow their personal lives to suffer. These are 2 men obsessed with the desire to triumph over one another, no matter at what cost.
It's a looooong film, nearly 3 hrs, but not a minute of it could be cut without attecting the mood and pacing of this excellent film. It's a crime thriller of the highest order, dispensing equal parts of high thrills and true drama.
Not to be missed. DeNiro and Pacino are top notch actors in this top notch movie.

Summary: Excellent Movie
Review: Heat is a superb movie and it receives five stars from me. The total story is realistically put together with an all-star team of actors. With an all-star studded cast such as this, this movie could not be anything less than a success.
The movie is very realistically put together because it shows not only can police be intelligent but also in some cases they can be out smarted by criminals. Each time in this movie when Robert DeNiro's criminal ring engaged in some sort of criminal activity they new the polices responding time. This enabled them to move faster then the police so they were not caught, they literally had their criminal plans broken down to a science. It was very interesting and exciting in how Robert Deniro's "crew" eluded the police. In some cases it was even comical, such as the particular instance when the police were watching the criminals and thought that had a jump on the next hit, only to be disappointed by the fact that they were the one's being watched.
A very exciting and action packed scene of this movie was the bank robbery. The bank robbers strapped with high power weapon successfully came away with money from the bank only to be shocked to see police outside. At this point the excitement starts as shots rang out from both sides and the viewer is put on the edge of their seat hoping that the criminals getaway as they engage in a high speed chase with the cops. I think the director is very successful in making you route for the wrong person, " the bad guy."
I think the director takes somewhat of a joy in tricking the viewer. First the director achieves the goal of making the viewer route for the criminals. Then one by one, without the viewer even noticing he eliminates, this criminal team of masterminds, who had seemed to be untouchable. Then with most of this team dead, he leaves Val Kilmer and the star Robert DeNiro. I think he was smart to let the viewer believe that the star would get away and live happily ever after with his attractive love interest. He surprises the viewer, and kills the star off but he spares the viewer at the end and lets Val Kilmer's character getaway buy chance.
The movie Heat has all the components to be proven to be a very good movie. It has a very good structured plot, it has romance, excitement, and it keeps the viewer guessing. All of these components on top of an all-star cast could receive nothing but a five star rating from me.

Summary: great movie
Review: When you watch this bank robbery movie. It is an easy plot similar
to western movies. With Deniro's charactor being Jesse James and his gang being Val Kilmer a Billy the Kid charactor and Pacino
as the Wyatt Earp. But there are alot of other great charctors.
one of my favs besides Neil(Deniro),Chris(Kilmer),and Vinccent
(Pacino)was the tatooed,sociopathic,Max caddy(Cape Fear),wild man
of the story WainGro,played brilliantly by Kevin Gage. This guy
actually made Deniro and his gang look like the good guys.He was
a standout charactor because Kevin Gage later in his carreer in
Dee Snyder's Strangeland is a good guy clean cut cop.His talent
is way better shown in this great criminal heist flick that is
even good if you watch in on a sick day actually better.A true
reward.

Summary: Great flick
Review: Everyone and their grandma is in this one. Pacino and De Niro alone are worth buying the DVD, and Kilmer and Company just add to the solid production of the movie. Great action scenes, gripping story full of twists, and edge of the seat suspense. Organized Crime movies don't better than this. If you have a DVD player and a nice home theater system, crank up the volume during the bank robbing scene (you'll know what I'm talking about), and get blown straight outta your living room. Heat is an absolute must have and one no DVD collection should be without.
