Rating: Summary: Exciting In Parts, But Too Long Review: If you have three hours to kill and want a movie that has intense, incredible action scenes and fantastic performances by two of this generations greatest actors, this is the movie for you. The action sequences are breathtaking. The performances by DeNiro and Pacino alone would make this movie worth watching, but add in the action and a good supporting cast and this movie earns its high rating. This would be an instant classic, but for the too long running time and excess subplots. Joe Dane shines in his uncredited screen debut.
Rating: Summary: Searingly epic and awsome in it's proficiancy, classic. Review: In the epic crime tradition of Year Of The Dragon and Scarface and Black Rain and One Apon A Time In America comes Heat.Michal Manns taut and provocative crime epic is no less then amazing and gripping in it's 3 hours. It's incredible cast is definately it's strongpoint with legendary actors as well as Academy Award winners Al Pachino and Robert De Niro.Robert De Niro playing a master thief , and Al Pachino playing the run down La dectective with his family life a mess and his job being the only outside life he deals with, is obssesed and will stop at nothing to catch this mastermind theif. In a gritty cat and mouse face off and a breathtaking bank robbery scene that is no doubt one of the best ever made literaly 15 minutes of non - stop action involving sevral police and sevral guns and bullits and bystanders. And to see them sqaure off in this intense scene is brillant. A short scene in a coffee house you finally see how these two actors work together hand in hand and what little scene it is it's still amazing to watch two actors with so much experience collide. The price of this DVD is amazingly low for such and incredible movie it is worth every penny and more and the DVD also has 3 entertaining trailers and incredible sound and picture quality. If you want a movie with both of these actors or wanna see just one in a good involving story then Heat will no doubt be your answer,if you want a killer crime saga then Heat is your answer because it dosent get more involving then this truly epic in every way.
Rating: Summary: De Niro and Pacino together a highlight... Review: Intense characters, occasional bursts of visually stunning action sequences and top performances by greats De Niro and Pacino make Michael Mann's Heat an unmissable crime film. De Niro and Pacino's central performances hold the film together, and while their characters develop throughout, brilliantly conceived action scenes keep the "heat" burning. Fans of either De Niro or Pacino will see this film on the single fact that these scene legends have scenes togther. I myself would to, but this film has so much more to offer - top camera work, a visual sharpness and an impressive supporting cast which includes John Voight, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore and the small role of Pacino's step daughter played by Natalie Portman. Only bad point - film rolls on to over 180 minutes...something only great films can justify doing. Otherwise, a top watch.
Rating: Summary: A surprisingly average thriller Review: Michael Mann's thriller which pits cop Pacino against ruthless robber De Niro has caused a lot fuss among critics and audiences. After seeing it for myself I can't understand why. Heat is an average thriller that has been given little extra depth and a lot of extra gloss. Both De Niro's and Pacino characters are well-worn clichés: Pacino as an angst ridden cop on his third marriage and De Niro as a psychotic villain who arranges his life so that he can drop everything at 30 seconds notice when the heat is on. Although Mann's visual style is breathtaking, presenting a stark vision of LA, his script is a mess. Padded with irrelevant characters and sub-plots it substitutes intrigue for plot confusion and eventually produces a mouse of an idea: that morality and purpose alone, separates police and criminals. The 3-hour running time is sheer self-indulgence when both characters are unlikeable and uninteresting as Mann fills most of the time with boring moralising as character development. When the action sequences do come, they are brilliantly staged, but their impact is deadened by the fact that the audience doesn't care which character survives. In my view audiences have been sold a dummy of a film on the premise of Pacino and De Niro coming together on screen. Yet neither actor gives a performance that is anywhere near to their best. De Niro goes for the minimalist approach, while Pacino spend most of his screen time shouting. The entire film has a delusional sense of profundity, with the ending ripping off that of Bullit.
Rating: Summary: Great DVD movie Review: This is a great DVD movie. Great sound, great picture. The only thing it lacks is extras like interviews and stuff, but thats excuseable. This movie rocks. The bank scene is the best I've ever seen!
Rating: Summary: Im glad I took my friends advice..... Review: This is a great film! I was not to excited about seeing it but I gave in to my friend's request for me to buy it. I was amazed by the action and suspense. The bank robbery scene is amazing and had me on the edge of my seat. This movie is a must!
Rating: Summary: The best movie ever! Review: This movie keeps you watching even if it is 3 hrs long. The suspense in it is great and the actors alone makes the movie. DeNiro and Pacino and Kilmer all have what it takes to make a dynamic movie. The storyline is masterfully developed and the ending is so satisfying and the movie alone is intense. It may not be action packed as much as some viewers want it to be but again, the actors and suspense alone is very strong. I have sat thru lots of long movies and willing to just leave after midway but Heat catches you in it's web and keeps you watching til the ens. Three fine actors in this one movie just explodes away. the best movie has been made, HEAT.
Rating: Summary: Best sound quality Review: I was against getting just another system to add to our tower of electronics but after hearing the sound quality of this movie I was sold. This picture along with many other DeNiro/Pacino films is a must have for anyone who owns this wonderful machine.
Rating: Summary: Just Plain ROCKS! Review: Cool, precise and it never lets up. The weapons handling and effects are some of the best ever. I liked the underlying Marine vs. Marine touch. They never say that McCauley was a Marine, but when he ditches Edie early in the morning, he has an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor tattoo on his left arm. Little things like this are what make this movie so cool. You look forward to watching over and over again to see what other details you may have missed. I think that the jerks that give this movie bad reviews should at least learn how to spell right first, i.e., "Pachino, 'badd', and 'stuupid'". Really, people, if you can't even spell words like "bad" right, I hardly feel you have any say on how well a movie is constructed. TWO THUMBS UP! BEST OF THE BEST IN CRIME DRAMAS!
Rating: Summary: Decent movie, DVD Review: Heat has two of the greatest actors ever in it, but the movie isn't one of the best ever. I still thought it was O.K. The DVD provides average picture and sound, but no extras. If you like action films, it's worth it.
