Summary: Not a perfect film, but decent.
Review: The opening sequence will blow you away. The rest of the movie has a hard time living up to that promise. Hugh Jackman plays a computer hacker hired by John Travolta to do the impossible (of course). Which he accomplishes in short order. There are some funny moments. There are some tense moments. Overall, the motivations for the characters are blurry, at best. But, it's summer popcorn fare and not high drama. And, Travolta's first line helps sum that up better than I could here.

The main challenge for the film makers... how do you make computer haking exciting. The answer, use a bunch of computer screens.

Decent performances all around. Travolta manages to steal his scenes without too much trouble. PS... If you're going just for Halle Berry's "nude" scene, it's a bit of a letdown and unnecessary at that. She looks better in the strip scene (almost all of which is in the trailer).

Summary: too many dells.
Review: I liked the premise of this movie, and Travolta plays a good "bad guy". This movie has Police, Bombs, Bank robberys, Car Chases, Hacking, and many other commonmd things found in action movies. But it has one thing taht most Actioon movies dont have: it was convincing... well almost. It struck me as a DELL Commercial... ALL the pcs even the servers are DELLS that it the only thing that makes it less convincing...

Summary: waste of time
Review: This is an extremely bad movie. The only saving grace is the special effects, and for that there are many other movies around. Beats me why talented professionals like Halle Berry and John Travolta agreed to do this nonsense. Berry doesn't do much except take off her clothes at every available opportunity. It's a bad rehash of Dog Day Afternoon, with a plot line so unbelievable that one wonders how the actors found their way through it - and then one realises they didn't. A total waste of time.

Summary: not as bad as all that!
Review: I found "Swordfish", aside from its predictable ending, to be an enjoyable action ride from beginning to end.
Jackman, Travolta, Berry and Cheadle are all very watchable in this movie. Being a fan of the pure-escape action genre ( I refer to Bruce Willis' classics as the "Die-Hard Trilogy" ), I can only assume that those that pan "Swordfish" are not fans of the genre to begin with.

Summary: John Travolta and Hugh Jackman?
Review: Great actors, and they saved this movie. Halle Berry is HORRIBLE, but luckily she isn't in all the scenes. Travolta and Jackman working together was a dream come true for me because they are my two favorite actors, and even though this movie wasn't as good as it could have been, the fact that they are in it completely redeems it, and makes it watchable.

Summary: Bloated...
Review: After watching the additional material at the end of the movie it became perfectly clear that my assessment of the movie while watching it ('what a waste of celluloid') was on the money. The producer, commenting on the escape on the bus at the end, noted that they were trying to do something that no one else had done before in an ending.

A bus? How in God's name would criminals escape by being on a bus being flown through the air by a helicopter? It makes for some fancy special effects (that are just a bit too reminiscent of The Matrix) but it's ridiculous, so ridiculous as to not even be entertaining. Perhaps the best thing about the movie was its premise. But once the film starts rolling, it just meanders about seeking to shock the viewer with fancy stunts and dialogue. And its attempt to 'better' Dog Day Afternoon was a laugh.

It has such potential but it was just too over the top and was much too high on its own sense of the spectacular and lacks substance. Travolta, cool as he can be, never quit gives the impression that he is as cool as he looks. He falls apart too quickly. Jackman's relationship with his daughter seems a bit contrived and Berry's role is pretty much as a prop. Don Cheadle is probably the best of the four on the box cover but the movie is a bit too puffed up on its own looks.

We never care about any of the characters, not even the hostages. The special effects have all been done before and are basically pointless, kind of like kids breaking things to get some attention. Obviously, I was really disappointed. I can't say it's a waste of time but there are better ways to spend two hours.

There is one redeeming feature about this film: the soundtrack. Funny thing about it though is that I couldn't tell you where the songs on the soundtrack were in the movie. Oakenfold's dub of The Word (of 'Grease' fame, penned by Barry Gibb) appears but for an instant in the movie. I actually got the album before I saw the movie. I should've known that a movie that boasts about its soundtrack before the film actually appears is already in trouble. Fortunately, I can listen to the soundtrack free of any images of the film while listening to it.

Review: Swordfish to me was a disappointment.
Poor story and plot all the way through.

A waste of money for a DVD.

Don't buy it!

Summary: What a bunch of TRIPE !!
Review: This movie is a discgrace. Shame on you Travolta !!! Of course, we couldn't expect much more from Hugh Jackman, considering his extremely limited abilities as an "actor". The only thing in this movie worth seeing is Halle Berry, you know what scene I mean. Other than that, this movie has a crummy plot, horrible acting, and the special effects are not that good either....crummy, even for an action movie!!! Save your money and buy some toilet paper instead, because thats about all this movie is good for.

Summary: Swordfish DVD
Review: If you're a fan of action, John Travolta, or Hugh Jackman this is a definite choice. Filled with amazing computer graphics, plot twists, and great acting, this movie is awesome. If you like fast paced, semi funny, keep you on your toes types of movies, this is one for you. I highly recommend it....!!!!
