Summary: At Least We Know Pesci's No Clown!
Review: Claimed by many as one of the greatest films of all time! The grestest movie of the 90's! And, one of Martin Scorses's best films to date! I have to say, I'm inclined to agree with ALL three statements. Martin Scorsese is one of the few filmmakers who has a true "ear" for dialogue. His movies have characters that are "real". You know that the way the characters are portrayed in the film, is probably the way the "real life" characters act and speak. But this is something that has always been said about Scorsese. His talent for making characters that seem "real". The screenplay written by Nicholas Pileggi and Scorsese himslef, is truly Oscar worthy. The acting by Robert De Niro ("Jimmy" Conway), Ray Liotta (Henry Hill), Joe Pesci (We should all know by now, he won an Oscar for this role playing Tommy DeVito) Lorraine Bracco (Karen Hill), and Paul Sorvino ("Paulie" Cicero) is amazing to watch! Every detail about this film is perfect. This is a movie all movie fans have to watch. There really isn't to much more I can say that hasn't already been said by other reviewers. Just buy this movie, sit back and enjoy a film you'll never forget.

Summary: A GREAT MAFIA MOVIE
Review: Even if it is much too long, this movie is perhaps MARTIN SCORSESE's best directing job in all departments. The use of violence here reach it's zenith level :wait til you see that revenge scene with LIOTTA ,that is almost comic even if it's perhaps not intented .The usual four letter words are present ,but since MEAN STEETS we are used to it.Some incredible set pieces assembled by a masterful director. All the actors seems to have a field day.LORRAINE BRACO is sexy and funny;DE NIRO is more subdued than usual and RAY LIOTTA was undeniably the film's revelation. Those allergic to violence in movies should not buy this, others will be delighted.

Summary: Goodfellas the greatest mafia movie ever!
Review: I know what your thinking, what about "The Godfather"? Don't get me wrong I'm a fan. But it is impossible to deny it has flaws(e-mail me if you wanna have examples), which Goodfellas has none. This was my favorite film of all time until I saw "Being John Malkovich" and still remains un-chalanged in my number two slot. Scorsese uses his trademark scrolling and fast-paced movement to deliver an intensity that is delivered by none other. With an incredible cast of Ray Liota(who proves in this and Copland that he is the most under-rated actor today), Joe Pesci, and the always incredible godlike Robert DeNiro the already powerful script is risen to levels that astound and bewilder. The few complaints I've ever even heard of this film were simply of its violence, which if you've seen this know is completely necessary. Note:Just because you like this don't think you'll like Casino, it proves team-ups don't always bring repeat success.

Summary: ONLY HALF THE MOVIE
Review: I bought Goodfellas on DVD yesterday at a local major chain store yesterday - I would greatly appreciate it they if you would let people know that the DVD only has HALF the movie on each side - I know this is Warner Brothers' (and I e-mailed them about it) doing but I'm kinda annoyed that a DVD would split the movie in half and I would have to stop and turn it over like some old record album. Also, given the cheesy cases, maybe Warner Brothers DVD's should be sold but not given any promotional space since after my last WB purchase I'm not likely to buy any more DVD's for a while and when I do I don't think I'll be buying any WB issues.

Summary: One of the greatest movies -ruined by Flipping
Review: Imagine a movie where you get so caught up that you want for it never to end. Goodfellas is that movie, I my opinion it's better than The Godfather, because this injects a slightly more humorous side to the tale of Harry Hill and his Mafia pals.

However just as you think the dvd is running well, the screen goes blank and you have to flip the disc over. Surely Warners coud release a special edition of this movie and keep it all on one side. I've awarded this movie 3 stars because the movie is still powerful it's just annoying that Warners looked at the cheap opinion of manufactuer on this wonderful movie.

Summary: Great movie; Terrible DVD
Review: This great film has been adequately lauded elsewhere. The DVD, however, is terrible. It is unecessarily and inexplicably 2-sided, which is very irritating. The sound transfer is inconsistant, with dialogue getting lost in the background sound during several scenes. And if you care about extras, there are none to speak of on this DVD. A commentary from Scorsese would have been great, but there's nothing. I love the film, but if I were recommending it to a friend, I would actually tell them to see the video instead of the DVD.

Summary: "...it draws you in, then spits you out"
Review: Wow! First off, this movie has a great cast. Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and Ray Liotta work excellent together. With their combined acting skills and the intense storyline, this movie is bound to reel you in. I don't remember how many nights my friends and I watched it, but I know that it will never be enough. Funny, intense, and sad; it draws you in, then spits you out. You'll have mixed feelings about this movie, and won't want to return it.

Summary: Scorsese perfection
Review: Goodfellas is the most compelling and realistic examination of Mob life based on the equally remarkable novel Wise Guy. Continuing to shower praise on this film by me would merely be redundant but I will anyway. Scorsese's energized direction, wonderful cinematography by Michael Ballahus, top drawer performances from Robert Deniro, Ray Liotta (what happened to his career?), Lorriane Bracco, Paul Sorvino and Joe Pesci gloriously over the top in his Oscar winning role. Scorsese' brilliant juxstaposition of music with visuals has never been better. Overall a real winner and one of top films of the 1990's.

Summary: Scorsese's Masterpiece
Review: What is it that makes me so funny? How am I so funny? I am here to amuse you? I'm a clown? Tell me!
