Review: Like the other reviewer mentioned, we were wondering why it took so long to get a special Ed of this classic flic. This is one movie that I watch at least 3 times a year (I own about 400 dvds and none of them gets this 3 times a year treatment, maybe starwars episode 5 will though once that comes out). Anyways, if I were you, go for the 5 pack scorcese best of set due out the same time and get 4 other great films. With share the love, its $37ish.

Summary: Well, it's about time!
Review: FINALLY! It's about time Warner releases this baby the way it was meant to be: in a glorious two-disc special edition. And if the picture above is any indication, it looks like it'll be released in a keep case instead of some flimsy, cardboard set (i.e. Once Upon A Time In America SE, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest SE, etc.). Best of all: no more having to flip the DVD over after Tommy wants to know where the shovels are! Theatrical Trailer Sounds good to me. "GoodFellas" is a movie everyone likes, so it's a bit bewildering that it took this long to be released properly. Ah, well. Better late than never, I suppose. I wonder if Warner will simultaneously release some sort of Ultimate edition in which the packaging that houses the DVD is a shinebox that has the name "Tommy" on it. *smirk* P.S. - Alright, Warner. Now how about that Batman special edition?

Summary: The Quintessential Gangster Film
Review: Scorsese's "Goodfellas" is a long movie that feels short, thanks to memorable characters, a blazing soundtrack, and expert pacing that only the director is capable of pulling off. The screenplay is so good, that watching episodes of the Sopranos evoke great memories of this film. In fact, any Italian mafia flick that came out after Goodfellas borrows (or steals) at least a little bit from Scorsese and Pileggi. Ray Liotta's narration is perfect. It is as good as Dreyfuss' wonderul narration in "Stand By Me" and is peppered with comedy, poignant emotion, and heart. "Goodfellas" practically made Pesci's career with his explosive performance as Tommy DeVito. Here, Pesci forever silences the theory that short, little guys can't be tough. Robert DeNiro shines equally as the Irishman Jimmy Conway with his famous "Little Bit" scene. The supporting cast of characters is top notch in the tradition of Scorsese with Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino, and Frank Vincent creating memorable performances. If you haven't seen Goodfellas, buy it! It changed the way Gangster films were made, as it added a little comedy to the gritty criminal subject matter.

Review: Just read on a website somewhere that this movie will be released as a 2 disc special edition in Late August 2004. So don't buy this flip disc piece of crud. They should've done this YEARS ago. Great movie. Great acting. Lots of violence.

Review: I just got word they are releasing a SPECIAL EDITION of Goodfells FINALLY!!!! Here is what Ilearned, along with extras... Okay... big news today. Warner Bros. has finally announced their Goodfellas: Special Edition for 8/17, as well as a 5-title Martin Scorsese Collection box set (SRP $59.92) that includes Goodfellas along with After Hours, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Who's Knocking at My Door? and a Mean Streets: Special Edition. The 2-disc Goodfellas: Special Edition will include audio commentary with Scorsese and members of the cast and crew, another commentary featuring ex-gangster Henry Hill and ex-FBI agent Edward McDonald. 4 "making of" documentaries and the film's theatrical trailer. It is ABOUT TIME!!! The original FLIP DISC was a waste!!!

Review: GoodFellas immerses you in the strange, violent world of armed, ignorant thugs. The Mafia depicted here clings to no pretenses of civility. Everything is about money and power, and no one--not even "made" Mafiosi--are immune from a bullet to the back (or front or side) of the head for just about any reason. Walk a little funny? Get shot. Talk back? Get shot. Bust someone's chops? Get shot. GoodFellas, in fact, spirals into a blood bath of gangster killing ganster for reasons ranging from revenge to keeping mouths shut permanently. The story is told from the perspective a young Irish-Italian boy who becomes an errand runner for thugs who hang out across the street from his blue collar home. The money, power, and freedom of being above the law are too much for him to resist, and, soon, he becomes a young, murderous thug himself. Ray Liota, who plays this central character (and provides splendid narration), follows this path to its natural conclusion--a cocaine-addled, unfaithful, narcisstic mob informant. The transformation is spectacular to watch, particular in the scenes leading up to his final arrest, complete with overtones of paranoia, a mysterious helicopter that seems to be shadowing him, the creation of an elaborate meal, a remarkable scene between the drug-snorting Liota and his junkie mistress, and a cranky, crazy drug courier-baby sitter. A word of warning: GoodFellas is brutally violent. People are dispatched, graphically, with guns, knives, and ice picks. Frankly, the story wouldn't be as gut-wrenching or honest without the casual brutality of these animals in full display. It makes the ease with which they kill all the more bizarre.

Review: Well, What can i say? I loved it, good plot. Based on a true story, which makes it more exciting and it had many twists. I also liked how the main characters could not be in a family, it gave them a more appealing look.

Review: Ray Liotta, Roert Di Niro and Joe Pesci, three of the greatest actors today put together in this outstanding, sick, twisted, dark and funny thriller based on Mafia and Gangster life. The story revolves around Ray Liotta's charecter, Henry Hill, while on his teen years in the early 50s decides to hang around the wrong crowd not knowing that it would competely change his life, as from henchman to mafia don, then realising his ruthless figure to society and how closer his enemies are getting including his own people hungry to get to his position, he flees throughout seven states in eager search of protection. Outstanding preformance from oscar winning supporting actor, Joe Pesci and Oscar winning phenomenal legendary actor, Robert Di Niro. A true gangster film and oscar winning success. This is truly a collectors item and a must see.10/10.
