Summary: A superb movie, a bad DVD...
Review: This movie is one of the greatest Mafia films ever produced. Due to that fact, and the great reknown of the movie, I will not recount the plot in this review. Needless to say, this is one of the greatest films made in recent years.

Nevertheless, the DVD version of this film is terrible. Not the movie itself, but rather the poor audio and video quality of the movie as presented on the DVD. Also, there is an extreme lack of special features on this DVD, and DVD owners are now accustomed to finding these on each disc. About the only feature available is a theatrical trailer.

That being said, the movie is spectacular, the video and audio quality notwithstanding. If you don't mind a somewhat substandard DVD performance, the movie will greatly entertain you.

Summary: Great Movie, Terrible DVD
Review: Why is it that one of the greatest films ever made is STILL presented so shabbily on the DVD? There are no extra features worth mentioning and you have to flip the dang thing over about two hours into it in order to view the entire film! MARTY!! BOBBY!! SOMEBODY!! DO SOMETHING FAST....THIS CAN'T GO ON! The movie gets 5 stars. The DVD presentation - 1 star. That averages out to about 3, right? What a shame.

Summary: What is this 2-sided DVD crap?
Review: A great movie, but I almost fell over when I discovered I would have to get up in the middle of the movie and flip the disc over. It ruins the whole experience. What's up with that?

Summary: this movie is awesome
Review: this movie is awesome. this and the godfather are definitly the best mafia films ever. but as the godfather glamorized a life of crime, this gives the real facinating truth.
liotta, De Niro, and pesci all give great performances, and ofcourse scorrsese is one of the best directors of our time. so i seriously reccomend this movie to anyone.

Summary: Fine Movie, Bad DVD
Review: The movie itself is fine - I'm not reviewing that. This is more of a WARNING that you have to FLIP THE DISC OVER after the first hour! Old-school DVD. Gimme a break. Got this as a gift, glad to finally watch it, suddenly after an hour it stops and I had to actually get up and turn the disc over. Come on. PLEASE re-release this using current technology. Having to flip it is seriously enough of a "defect" to make me not want to watch it ever again....

Summary: No special edition?!?!
Review: With practically every movie now receiving "Special Edition" DVD treatment these days (even those that never should've been released in the first place), this is one movie that SCREAMS for a Special Edition! Such a classic movie (possibly my favorite movie EVER) deserves much more than is given here, which is basically the movie plus a couple of trailers. There seems to be a trend now of going back and releasing Special Editions of older movies, so I hope desperately that this one is somewhere in line!

Summary: Wonderful Gangster Flick
Review: This is a classic movie. I was hooked the very first time I saw it and whenever it comes on TV I watch it when I get the chance. Finally I bought the DVD. The movie has excellent direction and a superb cast. Watch out for Michael Imperioli (Christopher Multisante of The Sopranos) in a bit role that is memorable. The movie is by turns very intense and funny. Any fan of gangster/mafia films with love this movie!!!

Summary: A legendary film...
Review: After "The Godfather parts 1 and 2" were released, it was hard to believe that Hollywood was ever going to produce a gangster movie that would even equal the quality of those two Hollywood gems. Enter director Martin Scorcese and actors Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, and Ray Liotta. These four made a film that not only expanded on the qualities of the first two "Godfathers," but also provided different characters and situations not seen in gangster movies of old. Needless to say, it was an instant classic. The four have gone on to become film legends (though DeNiro was already there) and the film is a cherished gem in Hollywood that is still not even 20 years old. Many people cite this film as Scorcese's best, although "Taxi Driver" was a bit more poignant. But no one denies that this is an excellent film with imagination, scope, and a take-no-prisoners attitude. One of the coolest films ever made.

Summary: I Want To Start A Petition......
Review: Firstly to acknowledge this film as the best film in motion picture history and secondly and perhaps more importantly to give this film the credit it deserves with a real DVD! I don't care what anybody says DVD's should not have to be turned over and have to have some special features. I mean this film is amazing, the master of the gangster film genre why can't we see a DVD that celebrates this until that time stick to the VHS its all we have, ...

Summary: Fantastic mob movie
Review: As a mobster movie fan, this is one of my all time favorites, next to the Godfather, of course. This movie is based on the life of Henry Hill, a notorious mobster. He starts off slow with small, petty crimes but quickly earns the trust of the higher ups. All of the actors in this movie are excellent, especially Robert DeNiro. If you like mob movies, you'll love this one.
