Review: I will discuss this film's aspects in the following order: the interesting, the typical, and the shocking. Asian American scholars have decried the way in which Pilipinos are the "forgotten Asians". This usually applies to history, but it should be applied to film and pop culture as well. In action movies, you often see African Americans and Latinos, and even foreign Asians, but rarely do you see Asian Americans. In this way, this film was a breath of fresh air. Yes, it's incredibly low-budget, but not annoyingly so. For the first time ever, I've seen a majority Pinoy cast. Even better, the actors often speak in Tagalog or Taglish. In addition to the subtitles, the fact that this was made in video, rather than film will rub average American viewers the wrong way, sadly. I really hope that Asian Americans and other people of color find this film. Outside of the ethnic novelty, however, this film epitomizes the rehash. The plot is beyond typical. The female lover jealous of the main character's devotion to his job has been done a million times. Like "New Jack City"(Black) and "American Me" (Latino), this film has its good-guy white sidekick. (Surprisingly, all the white men in this film are bald or balding.) Finally, there are two things that I found quite surprising. First, the main character dumps a cute Pinay, but goes back to his nagging, hysterical, childish white girlfriend. Pinoys might find this amusing, but Pinays will be highly offended. Secondly, most of these "New Jack" films are made for a minority male audience which defines itself as opposed to police officers and authority figures, yet this movie was filled with incidents of police brutality that are going to rub many men of color (myself included) the wrong way. Well, at least, Asian-American actors are getting paid!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining low-budget from Pinoys!

Review: You heard a lot about "low budget" films, this is the first "no budget" film. For a "no budget film", I think it came out OK. For the actors or "non actors" that Ace "hired" in this movie, you guys did a good job. If you read the credits at the end of the movie, I noticed that most of the supporting actors came from one family. Don't get me wrong, the acting was good. Especially the scene where "Orville" was running and was stopped by "Ernie" who was in a police car, the actor looked like he was really tired and couldn't catch his breath.
Well anyway, this is a great piece of film. Go buy the DVD, you'll love it. Just spread the dinero.
