Rating: Summary: The Pardoner's Tale, Retold Review: This story is an updated version of The Pardoner's Tale, that old staple from The Canterbury Tales, which reminds us all of the consequences of greed and lust for money. Kerry Fox's performance is the clear standout here, and she really deserved a lot more attention for it. I believe this film was released ahead of its time... 1994. If it were to hit the screens now, it would have an immense response, especially now that Ewan McGregor's become a household name. The soundtrack is always pumping, and the twisted ending's especially memorable.
Rating: Summary: Human nature at it's worst! Review: This surpising little film was very reminiscent of "Blood Simple" with it's dark humor and startling twists and turns. Every time anyone asks me to recommend a movie with a twist, I suggest this one! They are NEVER disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Very clever! Review: This was my first Ewan McGregor/Danny Boyle film... and I LOVED every second of it. The story is amusing, gripping, attention-grabbing and more; all of it is very Hitchcock-esque. I don't want to give away the plot, although from the other reviews I'm sure you can figure it out. Shallow Grave is a great thriller. All I can say is SEE THIS MOVIE!

Rating: Summary: Passafist Reviews Shallow Grave Review: This was my third Ewan experience, and I must say, the most satisfying. Watch this with "Trainspotting" and "Moulin Rouge" and discover what all true Ewan Mcgregor fans already know....He is a most wonderfully versatile and brilliant actor(Not to mentioin absolutley adorable).

Rating: Summary: Descent into murderous paranoia Review: This was the first of the Boyle/McDonald/Hodge/McGregor filmic collaborations and what a fantastic debut! The story of three flatmates who discover their new flatmate dead and a wad of cash - it's a beguiling premise and one that would certainly give anyone second thoughts. It certainly doesn't spoil the plot to say that they take the cash but there the problems begin. The three leads are uniformly excellent with Ewan McGregor showing the talent that would push him to movie stardom (and I don't mean "that" talent, for all you watchers of The Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine). However it's Kerry Fox who is the most outstanding here and proves what a consistently underrated actress she is. Her character plays a game with both of her male flatmates, trying to make sure she is on the "winning" side. There is plenty of evidence here of Danny Boyle's directorial finesse which is why Hollywood have come calling - if only he hadn't answered their call..................
Rating: Summary: Great thriller on a low budget. Review: Three flatmates... A suitcase filled with money...This is your classic tale of what happens to "normal" people when a lot of money enters the picture. The Director and Director of Photography must have spent weeks watching Alfred Hitchcock movies. I'd say it paid off. This movie slowly builds from humor to tense suspense to action horror. The camera angles also evolve as the movie goes along. While the acting was believable, I never really felt "connected" to the characters. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but it did detract a bit from my enjoyment of the film. The "twist" at the end, while slightly predictable, was still very enjoyable. Have a few friends over, pop some corn, and throw it at the screen. It's an enjoyable flick, but I'd recommend renting it. I don't think you'll need to watch this one over and over.
Rating: Summary: do the wrong thing Review: Three obnoxious flatmates put scores of potential tenants through their paces before selecting a fourth resident for their humble hipster abode. Soon he is dead from a (self-inflicted) drug overdose but he left behind wads of cash that they want. Now to dispose of him and carry on!!! They draw straws of who will actually dismember and bury him. It is gross!!! This division plus the knowledge of their horrifying secret slowly tears the flatmates apart. It is an interesting process to watch -- particularly when one moves into the attic and drills holes into the ceiling to spy on the two he left downstairs (shudder!!!!)
Rating: Summary: Peels the veneer of each character to its base nature. Review: Through a series of appalling social, disturbingly violent, and increasingly psychopathic events this film peels the veneer of each character to his or her base nature. Visually stunning (the flat is to die for) Shallow Grave is creepy intelligence. It will stay with you until you must watch it again.
