Summary: More than just entertainment...
Review: Leonard Maltin in his review states the film has too many tangents, but that is exactly one of the reasons this film has depth, is convincing as a drama and has more than just entertainment value. For example, one of the subplots very effectively illustrates socio-economic concepts described in Anthony Downs (Brookings Institute senior fellow) book "New Visions for Metropolitan America". The audience is offered an opportunity to learn about America's socio-economic problems as well as be entertained by some of Hollywood's best performers.

Summary: Ed Norton shines bright in his debut
Review: What a vehicle for Norton to kick off a career with! A great story with well written characters and a plot twist to send you shivering! (We will ignor the presence of Richard Gere so we may enjoy the movie!) This is the movie that brought the style and sophistication of Ed Norton into my view, and now I'm a huge fan! I believe that Norton is the best young actor we have in Hollywood today. Once you see Primal Fear, you'll be compelled to run out and see American History X, Rounders, and even clench your teeth through Everyone Says I Love You and Larry Flynt, just to see this brilliant actor sparkle!

Review: The film is just average,full of cliche's Richard Gere gives a horrible almost completely rediculous performance. The film is saved by a great performance by Edward Norton. He has the potential to be as good if not better than God AKA Robert DeNiro (Mully)

Review: Edward Norton has that ability to use his eyes to convey the totality of a moment and the essence of a character without speaking a word. From the saddened chior boy in Primal Fear to the soul of hate in American History X. I liked Richard Gere in this movie, but, sorry Richard, Norton's talent stole it from you. A must see - then go get American History X.

Review: Great directing, wonderful screenplay, superb acting, I can't think of enough superlatives to describe this film. Richard Gere shows what a fine actor he can be if given the right role; Edward Norton will win several Oscars, I am sure, as time goes on.See this by all means. I only wish a DVD would come out with interviews with the director, actors, etc.

Review: I won't talk long here because I don't want to spoil any of your delight in seeing this incredible film. Edward Norton's performace was one of the best, if not the best, of any actor in recent years - I can only think of his own performance in American History X to top it. If you haven't seen this film, just do it now. It's definitely one of the best, period.

This one of the best Richard Gere films (even for people that don't like him) and a great courtroom drama, and you should definitely NOT MISS the astounding performance by Edward Norton, in his first movie role ever. Review: A twisting plot that often sidetracks. The musical score is weak. A gloom and doom movie all the way. Very little to cheer about and when the movie is over it leaves you feeling like you just wasted your time. A good effort at the end to throw a twist into everything.

Review: This movie is a real sleeper. This is a terrific crime drama with a great twist. Edwarad Norton's performance alone merits viewing. If you can stand a blinking , whispering Richard Gere you are in for a real treat. I would highly recommend this for viewing for anyone who enjoyed Presumed Innocennt ,And Justice For All or Body of Evidence. An excellent thriller not to be missed!
