Summary: Riveting - Factual - Honest
Review: The powerful story line combined with the tremendous talent of Olmos & Forsythe brings to the screen the horrible facts of drugs, gangs and life doing HARD TIME. Olmos first directorship adds to this story the emotion he obviously feels and his concern to tell a story that needs to be told in its complete honesty. I know..I've been there & do not wish to go back.

Summary: These is a must see again movie for those that have seen it.
Review: These is a sample of what gangs can get you into if you have ever thought on getting jump in to agang. See that talks about violence, drugs, and the nesecities of love making to any man, and what can hapen if you ever try to play them wrong. The advice is for those of you that are alredy in a gang, thing before you act, and before you talk because gangs are no joke, specially in East Los Angeles or any part of L.A.

Summary: DON;T WASTE YOUR TIME
Review: This film is a weak attempt at portraying "prison life". It may have had its place and time but overall the film is lacking. Check out "Blood In-Blood Out" and "Weeds". Bad Boys with Sean Penn is another good "prison movie".

Summary: the tragedy of life is what dies in a man as he lives
Review: This has to be Olmos' best work and backed up by a surreal Forsythe. Is it life in the barrio's? Life in prison? I believe it was LIFE itself. It was the act of conditioning. The almost expected reality of institution life to the simple act of making love which turned violent. This is the harsh reality of institutionalization. Edward James Olmos could not have done any better unless he jumped off the screen and beat you to hell.

Summary: Five stars isn't enough
Review: This has to be the best movie ever on the subject of crime, gangs, and drugs. It is so unbelievably realistic. One can't help but be glued to the screen, and feel like you are living the movie. This is a rare film. It is brutal, but brutally honest. Ater watching it, you won't be the same.

Summary: Welcome to reality
Review: This is some info for anyone who thinks this is just a movie. Welcome to the reality of L.A. gangs. This movie was not just a story made up in someone's head, it's the truth, that is why this movie is so explicit. Jail is never a place where anything is sugar coated and neither is this movie. A big thumbs up to Mister Olmos on the history of The Mexican Mafia. If you don't agree, do the research on the movie characters, it's an eye opener.

Summary: Chicano Power
Review: This is the best movie l have ever seen Olmos throws it down for la Raza about our struggle at the time I cant say this was bad it was interesting to watch and understand our culture at the time. Olmos should do a another of these movies again.

Summary: Powerful!
Review: This is the best prison flick on film, and perhaps the scariest movie that I will ever see! American Me is explicit and haunting enough to scare a troublemaking teen enough to go straight. I recommend this movie for all of those young people who believe that they are too tough for society.
