Rating: Summary: Hispanic Prison gangs EME vs ENE in the beginning Review: A must-see if you are interested in how the sur y norte rivalry became so strong in the prisons. If you are a student of gang history, this should be added to your video library. Yes, it is violent and very explicit in a few scenes, so use your viewing discretion when young people are in the room. Very good. Very real. This movie allows the general public into the very private, very secret life of mi vida loca. PN por vida!
Rating: Summary: American Me Review: A very real to life movie of how things were in East Los Angelas for Mexican-American's back in the 50's. This is really a 2 part story about a mexican youth who turned to street gangs and wound up in Folsom prison where he became the leader of the mexican Mafia. A very good movie, but also a very violent and graphic one.
Rating: Summary: I'll have to buy it Review: After seeing this film once about 7 years ago on satellite TV, it still remains vivid in my memory.... Maybe the most powerful film on prison life you could ever wish to see.
Rating: Summary: Chale Review: American Me...Very strong explicit movie. It shows a little too much. Eddie made a mistake doing this movie. Big mistake! Although this movie will never be on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Powerfully depressing Review: For a film about prison life, this was okay, and for a film about the consequences of behavior which are anti-social, this film is powerful. It was really depressing, and if you don't want to get sick, find another movie.
Rating: Summary: American Me: True events of Prison life Review: I felt this movie gives a true, powerful glimpse on real prison life, and the lives of criminals that believe that what they do is needed to survive. This movie was gripping from beginning to end. People must realize that this is a movie that shows what it's like in reality. The content in this movie occurs everyday! This video can give you an awareness of what occurs in reality. This is an excellent video, and I suggest you go rent right now!
Rating: Summary: Phenomenal Review: I would give it 6 stars if I could. One of the best movies on gang life in prison.
Rating: Summary: In Your Face Reality FIlm Review: mad props to William Forsythe&Edward James Olmos for making a chilling movie that deals with Reality for some.this film deals with a wide range of topics.it says you have to be tough Physically but more Importantly Mentally.you have to Know yourself.Prison wasn't Olmos Problem in this film finding Himself was.he knew how to Survive but not to be ALive.
Rating: Summary: a successful mix between sad reality and poetry - a must Review: Olmos proved with this movie he's a hell of a director. A difficult topic (chicanos in american society) treated in a hyper-realistic way (the hero becomes a gang leader in prison and earns respect from other minorities), with a unique touch of "sad poetry". Olmos is the hero and narrator of this story, which depicts the history of mexican americans since the 40's. The action takes place mostly in prison, and when freed, the hero discovers he's completely lost outside because he didn't learn how to live like a free man. Olmos, Forsythe and the others are simply perfect. A really dramatic movie - you're not the same after watching it.
Rating: Summary: EXPERIENCING THE HARD LIFE Review: Sad, but moving. Goes in depth with the lives of these men. Truly makes you think about violence, and hate. You get to experience what it really is like behind bars. The movie was truly magnificent. You keep wanting to watch it over a thousand times!
