Summary: One word:Creepy
Review: What can one add to the previous reviews? If you enjoy dark, suspenseful, intense, psycotic thrillers than buy it NOW!If your squeamish or prone to nightmares stay away cause this film will give you them.Great acting especially by Jodi foster and Ted Levine who is even creepier then Hannibal! I agree also that this film inspired the X-Files, which I love by the way.And Fosters FBI character is without doubt the proto-Scully.Are Jodi and Gillian sisters? The roles are interchangable. I can see Gillian in the role of Clarice Starling (in fact she was considered for the sequel)and Jodi could have fit into the files with ease. All in all a mother of a film.Highly recommended.

Summary: No extras on DVD
Review: Although this is a great movie, the DVD was disappionting. I rented it and thought the picture and sound were average at best. There wasn't even a trailor on the DVD, just the movie and chapter search. If you like plenty of extras and you like this movie, I'd wait until a better edition DVD is released before purchasing.

Summary: A topper, one of the best movies ever.
Review: This one really makes history. Normally I think that the book is better then the movie they make from it, but this one is the other way round. The script has disposed of the dead wood that clutters up the novel. A great cast, great directing and a terrific score makes this one of the greatest creations hollywood ever made.

Summary: I dont see whats so disgusting.
Review: Whenever I talk to someone about this, they mention how disgusting the movie is. I really dont see it. There are so many more movies worse then this. I enjoyed this movie because I didn't focus on volence like so many maovies do these days. It focuses more on the psychological, and only used violence when necessary.

Thomas Harris rules.

Summary: "I'm having an old friend for dinner..."
Review: That is the famous quote made by doctor Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter as the movie draws to a close and leaves you in suspense wondering if they will ever convict the notorious killer and eater of human flesh, Hannibal Lecter. This movie was well above the regular suspense/thriler genre movies mainly because of the superb directing by Jonathan Demme. The movie carefully blended a well made plot, excellent acting, masterful directing, and a creepy musical score in one movie which landed it the five top Academy Awards. The plot of the movie basically is this: Jodie Foster plays Clarice Starling, a woman who is currently striving hard for her goal of one day becoming an FBI agent. In the FBI accademy she Is then assigned the job of interviewing the famous Hannibal Lecter,(Anthony Hopkins) a convicted cannibal in prison in hope of learning any information that might lead to the conviction of another killer, Buffalo Bill, at large that is killing women and dumping their bodies in lakes. She discovers that the only way that she can learn the information she desperately needs is to feed the mind of Hannibal Lecter with various details from her childhood. Using new clues she then sets forth on the investigation of trying to capture the mysterious killer Buffalo Bill, but also acheive the FBI status that she wants so bad. So sit back watch the movie and prepare to witness a one of a kind movie.

Summary: A creepy, sinister tale...
Review: Very famous and classy horror/thriller. A lot of other films have immitated this classic film and a spoof was made as well "silence of the hams" and all that goes to prove how popular and controversial this film became. Hopkins delivers a brilliant performance as Hannibal the cannibal an Foster does a good performance as Claris Starling. Brilliant and thrilling.

Summary: Excellent film, problematic DVD
Review: I have saved up my nickles and dimes to get the "cadillac" version of this film. For the most part, I'm pleased with it. I have noticed a few other reviewers here found the transfer to be lacking. I find I have to adjust the brightness on my TV because the transfer is too dark. Another disappointment: no theatrical trailers. They have been one of my favorite features I have accessed on every other DVD.

Other than these two complaints, the package is well worth it. The commentary tracks, deleted scenes and storyboard comparisons are engaging and worth your time.

This film is still frightening 10 years later. A chill passed through me again when I saw Hannibal Lechter for the first time, standing, waiting for Agent Starling. Impeccable acting and direction. Truly one of the "latter day classics."

Summary: Wonderfully Made Horror Film
Review: The Silence of the Lambs is one of the greatest movies ever made. Anthony Hopkins is unbelievable as Dr. Hannibal "THE CANNIBAL" Lector, the deranged psychopath currently held in a maximum security mental hospital. Jodie Foster, equally as brilliant as Hopkins, plays Clarice Starling, a student at the FBI academy in Washington. Jonathan Demme directed this movie to perfection. If possible, this movie is really ten stars.

Summary: Wonderful movie...
Review: I admit that I am not a big fan of horror/suspense films, but this movie would have to be the exception. Awesome story, absolutely superb acting. Jodie Foster is in the role that was made for her. Anothony Hopkins' Lecter had to be my favorite character. Don't think I'm morbid or anything, but he managed to pull off the role in a way that freaked me out yet still managed to have me rooting for him throughout the movie. This is a must-see. Yet, you will have to watch to watch it at least two times for you to understand it really well.

Summary: Chilling
Review: This is one of the first DVDs I purchased, and the first Criterion DVD. The commentary by Jonathan Demme, Jodie Foster, Ted Tally, Anthony Hopkins, and John Douglas proved to be one of the most insightful commentaries I've ever listed to. The supplementary materials -- "Voices of Death" was especially chilling in its detailed narratives into the minds of some of the most notorious serial killers. The movie and the supplements put a familiar human face to the killers and victims, and remind us that people aren't always what they seem to be.
