Summary: A decent Stephen King Adaption
Review: A thoroughly entertaining movie. I don't normally enjoy screen adaptions of Stephen King movies. With the exception of Misery and Dolores Claiborne. But this one is well worth the nearly 3 hours it takes to watch it.
Sometimes the acting is too "staged" and the dialogue too "scripted" but nontheless a great experience.
Even though it is supposed to have a happy ending it left me feeling sad. Kudos to Tim Robbins for a great acting job.
Worth buying, and you can expect an emotional rollercoaster as you watch it.

Review: Wondeful movie... very graphic, if your not into what goes on behind the prison bars, then this movie is not for you. I loved the ending! It was the perfect revenge.

Summary: Shawshank redemption is one of the great films.
Review: You would think that a film about a prison break would be boring, straight foward and make a very drab film but this was made very well. It's a story of unity with certain inmates and how tough prison life is especially when you've been sent down for murder without even lifting a finger. Shawshank redemption is probably one of the more empathic films i have seen the acting is perfect throughout and there are quite a few twists that get you more and more intrigued as the film goes on. The film has a great ending aswell after Red had spent all those years in prison then says what he feels and gets accepted parole and is set free then meets up with Andy (maybe i should'nt have mentioned the ending) well it's obvious that they get free anyway. Andy gets beaten up many times in prison by a group of men called the sisters who feel they have to beat him up as he's different in the way he looks, acts, walks and everything at the prison. The main guys in charge are corrupt, facist and bent in almost every way imaginable which makes the ending even sweeter. So buy this if you want a widely acclaimed, lucid film that your almost bound to like.

Summary: Review on The Shawshank Redemption
Review: This wonderful video (as states) does capture the triumph of the human spirit! The video is very inspirational to me! Tim Robbins teaches us a story by acting in a role with such expertise, we can see in oursevles that we also have the capablity to beat all odds. Morgan Freeman shows us that through paitence, we can make the best of any situation. I don't usually like Stephen King. This video based on a Stephen King story is the best!

Summary: Perseverance is a Virtue
Review: In one of the most inspiring films ever made, Tim Robbins (as Andy Dufresne) and Morgan Freeman (as Red) give their best performances and enthrall the audience emotionally. Convicted of killing his wife and lover, Andy, the banker, retains his hope for freedom. He comes across Red, the seasoned prisoner and an improbable friendship springs up between them. The excruciations and his unbendable hope make Andy stronger and determined, leading to freedom in his own way. Bet you will never regret adding this movie to your DVD collection. And remember: Fear can hold you prisoner; Hope can set you free.

Review: Shawshank is a very good movie. My sociology class watched it and everyone laughed, paid attention, and actually liked it. If you haven't seen this movie, make sure you do!

Summary: Predictable, but enjoyable
Review: Falsely given a life sentence for the murder of his wife, bank manager Andy DuFresne (Tim Robbins) befriends fellow lifer Red Redding (Morgan Freeman) and astounds his fellow inmates with his resilency and sense of self-worth. His financial skills also make him useful to the prison staff; soon he is acting as a financial advisor to the guards and helping the warden keep track of his illicit gains. The film unfolds at a leisurely pace, as befits a story about men who are serving life sentences. Director/screenwriter Frank Darabont does a good job of presenting the monotony of prison life without allowing the film itself to become boring by punctuating the story with little emotional payoffs along the way. Although many of these payoffs are rather conventional movie feel-good moments, I still appreciated the fine work done by the cast and the satisfying albeit predictable conclusion.

Summary: Could it have been any better?
Review: I remember when this movie came out. I was sitting in my dorm room watching TV when the trailor came on and I thought there is no way I would ever watch it. A story about men in prison with no action, no love...what does that leave?? Well, months later I was talking to a friend and he mentioned how amazing it was. I didn't know what to say but since I needed something to watch asked if I could borrow it. I sat down with my parents, telling them I didn't really have an interest in it, but that we should give it a go because of my friend's recommendation. After watching it I can say that it had more than I could have imagined; story (far better than the book), emotion (hard to put into words) and the simple notion of hope. I rate it as the best movie I have ever seen. I recommend it to everyone I come across and to this day not one person has said they were disappointed with it. Everyone should watch this movie at least once...although I guarantee if you watch it a second time that you'll see and feel things that you missed the first time. Enjoy...
