Summary: Shawshank Redemption
Review: As a female, I try to remain objective about Hollywood's masculine propensities. However, this film was so beautiful that I didn't even care that the women were incidental to the plot and were either cheaters or pin-ups.

It is one of the 5 finest films I've ever seen in my life.

Summary: A masterpiece
Review: A wonder of modern cinema. Frank Darabont has included into this film his absolutely remarkable talent of direction and writing, complete with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman's selection, make this a higly recommended title. The Shawshank Redemption DVD is of excelent quality of both sound -dolby digital 5.1- and picture -crystal full screen- and one of Darabont's greatest films

Summary: One of my all-time favorite films
Review: The Shawshank Redemption is the first Stephen King related movie that I've ever seen that was well-rounded and decent; certainly one of the most dignified and intense prison movies ever made. I personally think that the movie's score is first rate and really brought out the overall theme unlike anything I've heard before. All performances were great, and I think it is a crime that Morgan Freeman did not win the Oscar for his brilliant performance. The profanity may have been overplayed (but then, what else do you expect from a prison movie)? Overall, it is a superb movie.

Summary: a Strong Film
Review: The Shawshank Redemption is a great film.Unlike the usual buddy, buddy films that have The White Guy&Black Guy as total opposites and then makes them friends at the end this film touches the core early.and reflects both Tim Robbins&Morgan Freemans roles very well.the pacing of this film was done really well.this film was well directed&written.it's a must see.it shows Life in Prison and the daily grind.very cleaver&detailed film.

Summary: Beautiful film!
Review: What impressed me the most about this movie, something which I found very refreshing, was that the film was about a very close friendship between a white man and a black man and race is never mentioned - not once. They were just two human beings who formed a beautiful bond.

Summary: One of the greatest movies of all time!
Review: This movie is definately one to buy and watch over and over again. An incredible, compelling story with superb acting. Usually I like the original book better than the movie, but this one is an exception - Stephen King's story ("Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption") is good - this movie is GREAT!

Summary: Impressive & Satisfactory ending
Review: One of the best movies I have seen in this past decade. Definitely it deserves the high ratings. Though many of my friends thought it's a boring story, cast in prison (not the idle entertainment show). I was very touched and impressed with the ending, a rather smart, practical and satisfactory ending better than the normal classic revenge of the "The Monte Cristo" version. I loved the movie and I think one ought to have it in his library.

Summary: I never saw it coming...
Review: I had heard many good things about this movie before I finally decided to rent it in the summer of '98. This movie is amazing, to say the least. I did not anticipate the surprise climax...it was so clever and it is what sets this movie aside from the other prison movies. And like so many others, I was shocked to hear that it was written by Stephen King of all people. Just goes to show that the quality of King's dramas rival even his best horrors!

Summary: CLASS MOVIE
Review: The Shawshank Redemption has to be one of the most powerful movies of all time, the only other film which moved me more than this was Braveheart. The character portrayal of Red did the book justice and the on going struggle of the characters moved smoothly from one to another. Has to be Tim Robbins best. One of the most interesting things about the film is the fact that the main character in the film isn`t Freeman or Robbins but Shawshank itself and the effects it has on each of the inmates and wardens alike. The only thing against the DVD is the lack of extras, but the film surely makes up for this, and some. You`d be a fool not to buy this movie.

Summary: Dissappointed
Review: First off let me state this is my friends favorite all-time movie. I had such high expectations but feel I was let down. Slow moving, felt like the movie was "floating". The acting was well-done. but moving it wasn't. O well to each his own. I am a comedy/horror fan. I enjoyed Morgan Freeman in "SEVEN".
