Summary: One of my top 5s
Review: Not much more can be said that hasn't been said by others here. I think I've seen this movie on the order of 20 times and each scene still fills me with excitement and emotion. This, for me, is almost a perfect movie. It is multi-dimensional and ties this different aspects together like I've rarely seen a movie do before. You've read the other 5 star ratings. Now there is no excuse not to watch this movie.

Summary: One of the greatest films ever made.....
Review: Me and my dad watched this video about a year ago. It's 2 1/2 hours long, but neither of us spoke a single word while it was on. I've seen it 8 more times since then. There's not a single bad thing about this movie- the script is great, the acting is great, the musical score is great-- not since The Godfather has a movie been this moving. I reccomend this to anybody who likes GOOD movies.

Summary: One of the greatest films ever made!
Review: If you have not seen this movie don't even read this review. Go rent it immediately! This is an incredible film with a moving story and real, powerful characters. I am a big fan of Morgan Freeman and this is his best performance. And when you are discussing Morgan Freeman that says a lot. Also Tim Robbins is fantastic. His stoic and remorseful nature is so subtle and moving. The film is based on a Stephen King short story and it is written and directed by the writer/director of The Green Mile: Frank Darabont. In both his sensitive writting and his beautiful shot selection he has created a filmic masterpiece. FABULOUS!

Summary: A Very Good Movie, But I Was Dissapointed With The DVD
Review: I think that "The Shawshank Redemption" is a very good movie, though I do not think it is the best movie ever made. But the film is very good, the performances from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are excellent, this is an uplifting movie, there are moments in this film that will make you cheer. Now on to the DVD, I really like this movie so I bought it on DVD, I was very dissapointed, there are virtually no extra feautures except a theatrical trailer and a few production photgraphs. With the popularity of this movie the studio who made this film should have put lots and lots of extra features on this disc.

Summary: A film that every human should take in...
Review: When I first saw the Shawshank Redemption years ago in theaters, I was floored. This DVD preserves all the spendor and vast cinematography of the big screen and proves to be an absolute winner for repeat viewings. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman give unbelievably relaxed, effortless performances, not to mention the often overlooked heart wrenching performance by James Whitmore as Brooks Hadlen. The stark visions of prison contrast beautifully with the luminoisity of freedom. The framing and cinematography are nothing short of breathtaking. The flawless passage of 19 years during the course of the movie takes us on a lovely journey full of hope, friendship and inspiration. Truly one of the most signifigant cinematic achievements ever...a gem to be cherished for years to come. Buy it and be moved...

Summary: Good Ending.... But I won't tell you
Review: My friend told me to watch this movie and at first, I thought it would be boring but then as I watched the movie I was more interested. I especially like the ending. I am not much of a book reader, but the ending reminded me of a book called Ten Little Indians by Agatha Christie. Morgan Freeman was especially funny in this movie. I enjoyed his role playing the friend of our shy banker.

Summary: Touching, but not cheesy
Review: It's difficult for a film to be emotionally moving without being cheesy, but The Shawhank Redemption does the job excellently. Definitely recomended.

Summary: Amazing film.
Review: One of the most powerful films I have ever seen, it struck a chord in me right away. It is the story of a man who is convicted for a double murder he didn't commit and his time in prison. The plot is relatively simple, yet the character of Andy is amazing.

Andy finds hope in such a harsh situation like prison. Although he is on the inside he is already a free man because he has been freed within himself. Throughout the film he keeps the belief that one day he will be free once again. He is the personification of hope. I know that I related to this film right away. Being in a tough time in my life, Andy's character showed me that all you need is an unwavering belief that you can accomplish something, and once that happens everything will fall into place. Great film, I'd give it six stars if I could.
