Summary: Depends on your likes
Review: It is a violent movie with good actors, about police corruption. If you like movies that are about so many negative things, you will like this one. The actors are good, I just prefer movies with a more positive tone.

Summary: Disappointing movie
Review: This movie was a great disappointment to me....I suppose I didn't expect it to be so full of violence and deceit. My husband says I wear rose colored glasses, so it was much too realistic for my taste. I guess it's one thing to know something like that might actually happen, but to see it is another story. Denzel did a good job, however....can't knock his acting in this, but the movie on a whole left me feeling sad.

Summary: Gritty and Intense
Review: I don't know if this is the way it works, but if it is, it's scary in its own right. Denzel Washington's character is smart, mean and selfish. He plays folks from both sides of the line to his advantage. This movie is full of violence and double crossing and it continues on a straight line through all the perceived turns. Denzel's character is mean from the beginning, you just don't see it. He is the true meaning of the word 'player'. He manipulates everyone around him.

The movie leaves you thinking throughout, is he a good guy gone bad? A good guy trying to help? Or a bad guy posing as a good one?

Denzel does a find job (one of his best but his absolute best?)and Ethen Hawke does an extraordinary job as the rookie on his first day, the "training day". With a cameo by Tom Berrenger and a small part for Scott Glenn this movie is cutting.

Take notice though - in the final scene the van disappears! Watch and you'll understand.

Summary: You, whoever you are, need to see this movie.
Review: Don't rent it, don't ask your friends to borrow it, don't even shop around for a good price. Just go ahead and buy it at the first place you see. Trust me. I have seen a lot of movies. But I have NOT seen a lot of movies 5 times before they leave the theaters. It has everything...you'll like it more if you're a guy, but I know girls who love it too. Talking about it doesn't do it justice, so I won't. See it.

Summary: TRAINING DAY
Review: I LIKED THE MOVIE. THOUGHT THAT DENZEL REALLY DID DESERVE AN OSCAR FOR THIS ROLE. HE PLAYED A RUTHLESS , AND VIOLENT COP THAT WAS ON THE DRUG FORCE,NO DOUBT THAT HE WAS BROUGHT DOWN NOT ONLY FROM BEING SUBJECTED TO THE STREETS FOR MANY YEARS , BUT ALSO A BIG CASE OF GREED. THE THINGS HE DID TO HIS NEW PARTNER REALLY UPSET ME,, AND I KEPT HOPING THROUOUT THE MOVIE THAT BENEATH IT ALL HE DID HAVE A HEART.WELL, THAT NEVER DID HAPPEN, AND IN THE END HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED. BUT WHAT A MOVIE. MOVIE SEEMED PRETTY REALISTIC TO ME, LOT OF VIOLENCE.

Summary: Ups and Downs
Review: The movie was great, but I was rather disapointed in the performance of Ethan Hawke. He is a horrible actor in my opinion, and is the reason I did not like the movie as much. Denzel Washington did deliver an amazing, and deserving of the Oscar (I heard he got. Didn't watch the Oscars myself). I would reccomend renting this before you spend the [money] on the DVD.

Summary: Man up, folks!
Review: Great movie. Jake Hoyt's "training day", is his first day on the LAPD as a narc. As a first-day rookie, he has no idea of what to expect, no knowledge of good and evil as it pertains to his work. Therefore, he cannot respond correctly, and uses the only sensibility he has available to himself: the ability to reason. This is the main thread around which the whole movie is woven, and makes clear to us that experience pays. Training Day is as realistic as you're gonna get as far as the world in L.A., and why we're all afraid to leave our homes after dark, no matter where we live (como no, ese?). It clarifies how the line between what's right and wrong can get blurred, and that we all perceive things differently, especially Alonzo Harris. The verbiage is typical fare you'd expect from repeat offenders. I think you'll like it. I especially liked Bone (Cle "Shaheed" Sloan); he's a natural for the part, and cute, to boot!

Summary: ...MAN UP, YALL...
Review: ...if the hole in the ozone had to be epitomized by a single human being then denzel's portrayal here is emphatically over qualified!!!
he does the damn thang here fareal yall!!
1. dont be squeemish...
2. political correctness does not always rule...
3. life is sometimes harsh...
those are the primary 3 commandments of 'training day'...

okay...the ending is a bit flimsy...a rewrite coulda easily have rectified the whole thang, but hey, my name doesnt appear nowhere under the title of executive producer in this movie...

but gettin to the end was a fun ride!!! makes me wish i was a crooked cop! (thats a whole lot sexier sounding than being a 'crooked industrial bakery worker'!)

Summary: Predictably Ridiculous!!
Review: Even Denzel, a fine actor, after recieving his academy award said this film was "..not his best work" Definitely one for the 18 to 24 year old market because I certainly didn't like it.

Summary: Wow, great movie
Review: Not entirely sure of the background of this movie, prior to watching it, I was pleasantly surprised.

Denzel Washington is the the head of an elite group of cops, renown for its track record. Of course any cop looking for a fast track to detective would be quick to jump at the opportunity to join this group. Ethan Hawke is perfect for this spot, with his eager approach and with his persistance to do the right thing. Except that gets real fuzzy at times.

As any elite group, has there is a pecking order that gets established and a trust that needs to be earned, except this seems to be all too a bit extreme. This is Denzel Washington, as I have never seen him. Here he's a hard bitten adrenaline junkie, showing the new man the ropes.

While watching this rookie's first day, you veer between "What is this guy nuts" or "Hey, you have to fit in and be as tough and ready to go as the "enemy". When you get to the end, you have the answer.

I think it was a well done movie and a lesson in group dynamics.

The 4 was due to odd bits to the story line that seemed out of place. The Russian's and the meeting with the brass seemed a bit unexplained.
