Rating: Summary: A long MILE at that, but worth it Review: Oh, my! What a GREAT film!!! Unreal performances. Hanks is as good as I have ever seen him. Bonnie Hunt is delightful. Michael Clarke Duncan was MADE for this role. David Morse is great! Sam Rockwell nearly steals the show! Tremendous plot--compliments of Stephen King. Just beyond words. Terrific film
Rating: Summary: A Great Mile Review: Great Movie. Great Acting. Great Story.
Rating: Summary: One Of The Best Movies Ever Review: This is probably the best movie adaptation of a Stephen King novel that exists. Character development is very accurate and the story is told in an enticin and almost chilling way. The only problem people migh have with this movie is that it is over 3 hours long. Then again, so were the Lord of the Rings movies. This is not all action-horror-blood-guts-vampire-evil, it is suspenseful and mysterious. I would not advise this movie for anyone under 14.
Rating: Summary: Gary Sinise great with Hanks Review: Gary Sinise is great as the no-good lawyer who defends Coffey. Unlike Hanks, Sinise never gets enough credit.
Rating: Summary: An attempt to revision after 519 reviews Review: 519 reviews is a huge number, even for a new movie in a mega-site like Amazon. And if someone is not an egoist, he better think a lot before simply adding another review. Egoist or not, I feel I have something to add for this movie.Tom Hanks always presents very good movies, technically good, not necessarily tasty or flavored, but well-made movies. However, I don't think that he added anything to the cinema after Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 (I didn't see Road to Perdition yet). This one is not an exception; it gathers an excellent novel, well picked actors and very careful re-creational technique. But the movie is a fairy tale, with personalities of black and white, pure evils and pure saints, and in order to smartly cover this defect (unfortunately it is presented as defect in the movie), some salt and pepper have been added, like the funny attitude of Graham Greene, the wonderful presentation of the mouse, or the skillfully embedded indication to corruption. If you would not be motivated by compassion with this movie, the logic would force you to under-estimate it. It is too much of sophistication to present a fairy tale and it is nothing like real pain, real determination and real hope of The Shawshank Redemption (oops, I didn't really wanted to repeat what is mentioned in at least 100 reviews, so, I mentioned the opposite). Yet you do not get board watching this lengthened movie, you will admittedly enjoy the building of the characters, get amazed by the great techniques in reviving the life of the 30's in prison and in outside life (the visit to the lawyer for example) and convince your self that adults need fairy tales to boost their structure. There are movies that are made to remind us why we go to the cinema; after all, cinema is part of the intellectual creativity that we should incorporate to eventually improve our relations as persons and as societies. This one is very good example.

Rating: Summary: Well made long film. Review: With this film been 3 hours long some people may become immediatly apprehensive but there really is no need to as every minute of this film is gripping and intense as you really do empathise with the characters as you get to know them throughout the film, Tom Hanks delivers yet another great performance and you're looking at the film from his perspective throughout from when he his a pensioner and when he's looking back either that or younger. The green mile is all about life on death row for the prisoners, wardens and the circus mouse (Mr Jinxs) that keeps making an appearance every now and then. In the Green mile the story contains corruption within one of the wardens and unity with the prisoners and wardens with only a few exceptions to the rule. This film was very well made, the DVD only contains one short making of the green mile documentary but really who needs alot on this DVD as the quality of the film speaks for itself. This film has been directed by the same man who directed the Shawshank redemption so you immediatly get a good feeling about this film from hearing that, John Coffey (JC - Jesus Christ) played by Micheal Clarke Duncan is convicted of killing two young girls and is immediatly sent to death row he is a massive man who can only sleep with the light on and gets easily scared he also is a mysterious person who adds alot of twists to the tale, a highly recommendable film.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the three hours Review: It's not too often a movie comes out that's a little over three hours long but is still able to absorb you for every minute of it. This movie pulls off that trick. Mostly it's because of the characters--the gigantic faith healer stuck on death row for two murders he may not have done; a sadistic, mean-spirited guard who enjoys mentally torturing prisoners; a Cajun with a magic mouse, and a truly evil killer who appears to be unconcerned about his impeding execution. Hanks, as almost always, does a fine job, as do the lesser-known actors (such as David Morse) who play the other guards. Good film, with obvious religious overtones (the faith-healer prisoner's initials are J.C.; get it?) You'll enjoy this one, I promise.
Rating: Summary: Amazing just simply Amazing Review: Ever since I heard of this movie I had heard it was good but had not rented it. After it came on television the other night I loved it and had to get this DVD. This is one amazing movie. Starting off in a retirement center Paul Edgecomb is watching a movie and begins crying here he tells when he is a prison gaurd during the depression in Louisiana in charge the Green Mile called this because of the fadded lime green floor prisoners walk down while on the way to the electric chair. When John COffey comes in he is a huge inmate but is a gentle giant who is even afraid of the dark. As the movie goes on we see John's secret powers. The gaurds are very respectful of the inmates except one. As the movie progresses we learn why Paul was crying while watching the movie at the start. The movie itself lasts three hours and then a little more but is not boring like some long movies ... All in all I would recomend this wonderful movie to anybody but I will warn you there are some graphic scenes.
Rating: Summary: GReaTness at its GrEateSt Review: Well its been a while since i have watched this movie but i can still remember how emotional this movie was. The DVD has well featured sound quality and has special features. Michael Dunkun is superbly fabulous in this movie along with the obvious tom hanks. This movie touches you in every single way and shows how a white man can rely and trust a black man in a racist society. What my question is how Michael Dunkun didnt win an Academy Aard for a damn sure fabulous supporting role?
