Summary: Wonderfully Touching, Enjoyable For Everyone
Review: Invariably THE GREEN MILE will be compared to the other Darabont-King team up in SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION which is one of my favorite movies. I read THE GREEN MILE as it came out in its 6 installments, and as I read I knew it was made for the screen, and it has turned out to be a wonderful movie. Darabont may not beat his prior effort in SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, but the beautiful crafting of the storyline and the chemistry between Hanks and Duncan produce a great contender. I have read some reviews complaining of having to watch 3 horrid executions, but they all a necessary to the plot and are far from horrid. I was impressed with the features on the DVD, and quite pleased with the film transfer. The sound isn't taxing on your system, but is well done. Overall, a wonderful piece of work, nearly for the whole family. Great addition to anyone's collection, and a must of Stephen King fans.

Summary: A Gem from 1999
Review: 1999 was a good year for films, and "The Green Mile" was one of those films. I haven't read the book on which it is based, but I hear that this is a pretty faithful adaptation, hence, the lengthy running time. I can't imagine anyone except Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecombe. The performances are superb. Michael Jeter's portrayal of Eduard Delacroix is truly marvelous.

The DVD is great too. The transfer is marvelous, with only minimal edge enhancement. The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix wraps you in ambient effects, such as rain and thunder.

This disc is thin on supplements, but that's forgiveable considering the film's length. If this had been released by Fox, we might have gotten a 2-disc set with more extensive extras. I would have liked a commentary by Frank Darabont, Stephen King, or both one one track.

The film's strength and the fine transfer overshadow the lack of extras on this disc. Highly recommended.

Summary: Really Good Movie
Review: This is a really good movie, that is made a great movie by the last line spoken in the movie. The line said by Tom Hank's character is so memorable, and will really make you think long after seeing the movie. The movie is all together very good. All the actors did a great job in theis movie especially Tom Hanks, which he always does.

Summary: Beautiful
Review: "...he kill them but they love... they love each other. That's the way it is everyday. That's the way it is all around the world" The Green Mile--- first, let's start off talking about Stephen King. Stephen King, the master of horror, is the last man you'd expect to accomplish something so powerful and moving as The Green Mile. But this isn't the first time he's done it--- remember the Shawshank Redemption? That's King's work! I've read a few King novels, like Pet Sematary and The Dead Half, but I had never expected him to be able to even come close to a tear-jerker (not that The Green Mile should be classified as just that!). It brings out a softer side of King, a compassionate side. Now, when Frank Darabount took King's novel, then in a series, and not an entire book, and wrote it for the screen, you'd figure that many details and descriptions would be left out. This is not true. In fact, it is just about the best adaptation of a novel to a movie I have ever seen (and Stephen King agrees!). The cast was perfectly chosen, (especially Michael Clarke Duncan as John Coffey) the storyline carefully laid out, and even the camera angles seem to add to the film's vitality. That's right. Vitality. I think this film is not only a moving drama, but a wake-up call to humanity. It makes you think. Think about what, you ask. I'll tell you: prejudice, heaven, hell, and also, yourself. You will laugh. You will cry. You will applaud every time you watch it. I reccomend you and everyone you know sees it, despite its rating (R) for language and mature themes.

Summary: Greatest Film of 99
Review: The Green Mile is undoubtfully the best film of 99. Tom Hanks gives a great performance as prison guard Paul Edgecombe but Michael Clarke Duncan is the one who gives a breathrough performance in this film. His role as the slow but powerful John Coffey (John Coffey ma'am, like the drink, only not spelled the same). There are alot of memorable lines in this movie; many that you will rememeber for a while. But the most powerful scene of the movie is when Coffey shows Paul Edgecombe what he saw through Wild Bill. A must see, and a must buy for all.

Summary: I LOVED IT!
Review: THIS MOVIE IS AN EDGE OF YOUR SEAT ENTERTAINER...I LIKED IT EVEN BETTER THAN "THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION". I LOVED THE ACTORS & THE NEAT LITTLE MUSIC THEY KEPT PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND. I AGREE THAT MOST OF "STEPHEN KING" MOVIES HAVE DISAPPOINTING ENDINGS...BUT THIS ONE WAS GREAT! WHEN YOU BEGIN TO WATCH THIS MOVIE YOU MAY PLAN ON WATCHING HALF NOW & THE OTHER HALF LATER, AS I HAD PLANNED ON DOING.BUT,BELIEVE ME, YOU WILL WATCH THE WHOLE THING AT ONCE BECAUSE CURIOSITY WILL GET THE BEST OF YOU !!!

Summary: Whoa....
Review: This was certainly one of the better movies of last year, and it was definately the best "highly-touted" movies of last year. I enjoyed this one more then I did American Beauty. Everyone in this movie does a great job, especially Micheal Duncan for his role as John Coffy. It sure isn't hard spending an entire movie, take after take, crying.

Great performances by everyone made this a very enjoyable movie. Once the first tape ended, and jumped right up and threw the other one in. Unlike Titanic, I was in no rush to finish the second tape.

All I have to say for this movie is RENT IT. It was great, and was one of the few movies I didn't want to see end.

Summary: A perfect adaption of the book.
Review: I don't think I have ever seen a more faithful adaption to a novel than Frank Darabont's Green Mile. I read the book first and loved it. Stephen King movie adaptions are notorious for being bad but the presence of Tom Hanks and other A-list actors caught my attention when I first went to see this in the theaters. I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen for the entire 3 hours plus.

Whoever casted this movie was a genius. Each character that I read about in the book, I pictured to be just like that character in the movie, from Paul to Coffey to Mr. Jingles.

The film may not be considered an epic in the traditional sense of the word, but I believe that it is an epic, an epic about life. A must see for all ages, all types of people. This transcends all barriers.

Summary: even though it didn't win...1999's best picture!
Review: i put this film into my dvd player expecting to be bored because of the length, but this is the type of movie that makes it hard for you to take your eyes off it. you follow the story so closely because you can't wait to see what happens next. this is a highly entertaining movie and deserves a place in any true movie fan's collection.
