Rating: Summary: The Greenest Mile Review: I just wanna say that you must this movie cause I can not think that there is a person who did not like this film.Strictly Recommended.
Rating: Summary: "...its not an action packed adventure" Review: My friend turned me on to the book(s) when it was first produced in series a few years back. It was an excellent read, and this movie does the book(s) justice. All the actors give an outstanding performance. The movie has a great storyline, with conflicts and suspense combined with an emotional setting that leaves you spellbound. Although the movie may be to long for some, and boring for others; its not an action packed adventure. But it will draw your attention with its moving performances given by Tom hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan. Some scenes may not be suitable for younger viewers, but then again that's why its rated R.
Rating: Summary: *One of Stephen Kings best EVER! * Review: I have got to admit that this is one of the best movies I have seen ever!. Not only has Stephen King written a great novel based on "The Green Mile" but through his great imagination and mind he has created what would be called one of the best movies of the decade. I am a big fan of Stephen King and I have loved "The Green Mile" "The Green Mile" being based in a prison in the 1930s where the main character (tom hanks) is in charge of his own block of prisoners. It eventually leads up to a black guy (cant remember his name) coming into the prison and eventually they find out that this black guy is a miracle worker from god. One of the patrolman is seen as cruel and nasty towards the fellow prisoners in the cells. In one scene he is carrying around a baton. One of the prisoners has his hands on the poles in the jail and is laughing at the nasty patrolman (as u can see I am very crap when it comes to remembering names in a movie, bad memory on my part). The nasty patrolman then wacks his hand, which is out in the open, with the baton and actually breaks his fingers. I think I best stop at that otherwise I will ruin the movie for a lot of people, another star character in the movie "The Green Mile" is the mouse "Mr Jingles". He is not only a mouse, but Mr Jingles does add a lot to this movie. He brings out joy and happiness into some of the characters in this movie, and to a small amount of characters diturbance and hatred towards the lovely "Mr Jingles". I must admit, even though being male, this movie is very emotional, funny, disturbing, sad, and has got to be one of the best movies out. It actually made me very emotional and tears came to my eyes. SO not to be seen as a woose I watched this alone. A definite one to watch and buy.
Rating: Summary: Five star film! Review: "The Green Mile" is a movie I think everyone should watch at least once. Great performances were given by the actors. The story is wonderful - a truly magical movie.
Rating: Summary: RIVITING! Review: The Green Mile was so lifechanging I had to go out and buy the DVD...this movie goes on to teach life lessons that they are angels and those who have been sent with gifts to help free us and then when their time is done, they are gone. When this movie began with the death of 2 little girls, I was amazed at the fact that what we "see" isn't always what is. A great family movie and treasured heirloom.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: From the Director of Shawshank Redemption comes another classic movie about life in prision. In this case the twist is a New Age experience. Outstanding cast, dialogue.....
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL MOVIE Review: This was an excellent movie--the 3++ hours was unexpected, but well worth it. The characters played excellent parts, especially Tom Hanks and Michael Duncan. There are characters that you just hate, and others that you cannot help falling in love with and feeling sorry for. This isn't a movie that chilren should see, because there is violence involved, but I do recommend it to people who enjoy action, drama, and a good tear-jerker.
Rating: Summary: In Praise of a Featured Veteran Review: Having not read all of the previous reviews of this excellent King adaptation, I must add to the accolades by singling out one of the film's supporting performers, one who has been a presence for over a half century: Dabbs Greer. Although only seen as the "old Paul Edgecomb," Greer makes a memorable turn as the elder version of Tom Hanks in the movie's closing moments. His quiet and dignified soliloquy is truly touching. I cannot tell how moved I was by such a topper to this outstanding bit of storytelling. Greer, as well as all parties involved, magnificently brought one of Stephen King's best works to the screen. Along with "The Shawshank Redemption," "Mile" ranks as the most faithful and cinematically satisfying of any jump from page to the cinema.
Rating: Summary: Shawshank it ain't Review: The Green Mile should not even be mentioned in the same breath as the superior Shawshank Redemption, except perhaps when the director's credits are mentioned. The Shawshank Redemption was a masterful work of film, with terrific performances, wonderful direction, and a beautiful story to tell. The Green Mile is long, boring, self-important, and basically tells a PBS After-School Special story of accepting people who are different. There are fine performances in this film, just not from the ones critically lauded. Look to a crazy man with his mouse, a demented police guard, and a toothless murderer to provide some amazingly deep performances in this film.
Rating: Summary: Closely patterned after the book Review: Most of the films patterned after novels were always 2nd rate to the original/book. But Green Mile was closely patterned after the book, characters, plot & events...I did not notice any significant revisions/alterations made to the original storyline but if ever, they were minimal & negligible.I agree, the story was quite long with a 3hours ++ running time. My husband kept shifting on his sit but I sat back comfortably & pleasantly watched the film, waiting for each scene to unroll till the end. What helped me more in appreciating the movie was being able to read the book & understanding all the reasons behind the scenes. & of course, Tom Hanks playing Paul Edgecomb!
