Review: Despite the massive praise lavished upon this film, it is nonetheless a weak and unsatisfying waste of time. There is considerable over-acting on the parts of Hopkins and Foster, while Glenn is as wooden as ever. It is essentially an exercise in pure tedium, interrupted by the occasional excursion into gory excess. It is a pointless, boring excuse for entertainment; avoid it!

Review: Foster and Hopkins kick butt here! Their chemistry is amazing. This film was ground breaking and truly shocking. If you haven't seen it, do that now. If you have, revisit it and remind yourself of why it's so great.

Summary: Silence of the Lambs
Review: A serial killer, known to the media as Buffalo Bill, has kidnapped and skinned several women and cannot be found. A beginner FBI agent, Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), is assigned to speak with a brilliant psychopathic psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecktor (Anthony Hopkins), in a mental ward. In doing this, she hopes that he will provide both valuable information regarding his whereabouts and insight on how a serial killer thinks. Soon after her first meeting with Lecktor (overwhelmed by the manipulation she received from him and other inmates), a woman is reportedly missing, and that Buffalo Bill is behind it. This adds to the stress, and Lecktor reaches into Clarice Starling's haunted memories.A riveting and disturbing psychological thriller that succeeds in most departments. It does not rely as much on blood and gore as it does on generally eerie dialogue. Jodie Foster's character does take a little while to get comfortable with, but her portrayal as a haunted woman is always compelling and unforgettable. It is Anthony Hopkins that delivers the most with his cannibalistic and thought-provoking persona. See it! Overall rating: 4.8 stars (rounded to 5) If you like this film, I would also recommend "Se7en". Rated R for strong language and suggestive dialogue, violence, brief nudity, and mature themes.

acting-10/10-"Silence of the lambs" contains a sensational performance from Jodie foster and an absolutly chilling performance from Anthony hopkins.Some of the best acting i've seen in a long time.So much realism put into one movie.It all seemed so realy and the actors were completly convincing.
horror/gore-10/10-This movie was absolutly "chilling" and was a true masterpiece.The gore was very real looking.Be warned that this is an extremly graphic movie that will give you the creeps every time you watch it."Silence of the lambs" doesn't throw a whole bunch of gore at you but it gives you gore in much more clever,much more brilliant ways
story/plot-10/10-The story itself I thought was brilliant.It was very well put together and the script was near perfection.You never get tired of viewing this movie multiple times.Some of the ideas thrown in the story are just pure genius and are equally entertaining as well.
Directing-10/10-I thought the directing was excellent.The director did a nice job of getting the actors to act "real".The great directing made "Silence of the lambs" all the more chilling.It almost seems as these people were not actors at all put real life people going through real events and thats very hard to pull off but "silence of the lambs" accomplishes that perfectly.
Over all,"silence of the lambs" is a perfect thriller and is an instant classic with great acting,directing,gore,and story to go along.Its has everything you could possibly want in a movie and has all the recepies of a timeless classic and is well worth the time and money.This is one of the best movies ever made and if you haven' seen it yet i highly recommend you do.

Review: This movie is so overrated, Hannibal Lecter is weak, and I don't like anything out of the movie. The series just gets worser and worser. People still like this boring movie and put it on their top 10 lists. Well, I put it on my Bottom 10 list because I don't like these stupid movies.

Summary: Spectacular!
Review: The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most well-known films ever made, and the main reason is for its well-known disturbance that it gives to viewers. But the film is so much more. It is gripping, well-written, and superbly acted. And it has some of the best suspense themes ever put into a motion picture. The story is gripping as well. A young agent is sent to enlist in the help of a psychopathic serial killer in order to find another killer, who happens to think that he is a transvestite. Jodie Foster gives much emotion to the part of the agent determined to find Hannibal Lecter and the murderer whom he is linked to. The movie will absolutely penetrate the souls of more impressionate viewers, but anone who is brave enough and mature enough should definitely see this modern classic!

Review: If you are intrigued by suspense dramas, then make sure to watch "The Silence of the Lambs". Although this feature film was released in 1991, it is guaranteed to thrill the viewers optic nerves for one hour and 58 minutes, not to mention the extras available on the special edition DVD. MGM studios and producer, Jonathon Demme, in conjunction with script writer Ted Talley, take Thomas Harris's novel from print to prime. Actors Anthony Hopkins, Jodie Foster and Scott Glenn captivate their audienced and dominate their competition by winning numerous awards including an Oscar for best picture and an Academy Award for best screenplay. Anthony Hopkins rounded up the films sucess by seizing an Oscar for best actor. In addition to the films award winning sucess, this eccentric drama encompasses all aspects of mentality and mystery. The intriguing Clarice Starling(Foster), a FBI academy graduate, is asked to use her skills as well as her physical essence by FBI agent Jack Crawford in hopes of gaining an insight into Hannibal Lector's (Hopkins) demented yet brilliant mind. Hopkins plays an imprisioned cannible and a post psychiatrist who holds the key to eradicating the victims of the socialpath that is plaguing the community. His criminal and prior professional experience is thought to be crucial in catching a serial killer as well as assist agent Starling in developing the mind of a killer. Agent Starling probes Hannables prolific perceptions as she and the agency penetrate the mind of a the psychopath that permeated the police and the politics of our society. Starling and Hannible's strange bond, the gloomy demographic positioning and the complexity of the characters creates a three deminsional depth that draws you in and won't let you go.
The "Silence of the Lambs" special edition DVD offers more than just the feature film. The exclusive interviews and character insights illuminates the character roles within the film and how it was created. Watch this suspense driven drama to experience an indepth look into the psychosis of a serial killer, a driven FBI agent and an imprisioned genious that bars cannot supress. I give this film five stars. The film and its characters are intriguing and its extras are beautifully mastered to enhance the film and enlighten the viewer. A powerful film that will make you think and listien to yourself as well as your surroundings.

Summary: Poor casting hurts an otherwise good psychological drama
Review: I did not read the book so I don't know if the writer and director were trying to follow a flawed path with their script. However, the movie lost me early on with the premise that an FBI academy student would be chosen for an important assignment. Thus I found myself following the rest of the movie wondering what the heck Jodie Foster was doing in the center of all the action. Then there was the casting for Hannibal Lector. This character is going to have to convince the audience that he possesses not only a brilliant mind but also a powerful physique. Enter Anthony Hopkins and exit my interest in this character. By now I'm hoping that Scott Glenn will show up more often so I can have someone whose role I can accept. There are several confusing sequences in the movie that detract further from its' quality. Maybe it's just me but I was totally confused by a scene with Jodie Foster and a group of local lawmen gathered when one of their own was found. Ms. Foster gave a little speech that made absolutely no sense to me. Then there was the incredible scene in which Hannibal Lector was transfered to Memphis or some such place at the request of some influencial politician (like that made any sense). We have a hotel with two divisions of policemen in it to guard Lector (and two cops actually doing the job). We are expected to accept that Lector is able to overpower the two cops, create a gruesome disguise and escape (presumeably by overpowering even more inept individuals). It was quite a series of events but I didn't buy the concept that it could have happened in the first place. Well, enough of my complaints. My point is that I felt the movie lacked credibility. I think viewers were fascinated with the concept of Hannibal Lector and tended to accept whatever they were asked to. There was some interesting psychological dialogue and some scenes that were very well done. I just was never able to buy into it.

Summary: Flawless masterpiece
Review: SOTL is as brilliant today as it was back in 1991. Look inside the mind of a serial killer, with non-stop suspense - and you have one hell of a film. Too frightening to watch on your own, this film boasts not only a well structured script, but fine performances all round. Jodie Foster stars as Agent Starling who "consults" with Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins) to work out the identity of a serial killer. This is Jodie's finest film, and one which you will return to time and time again. DVD SUMMARY: Released now for the third time on DVD, after two attempts, which featured non-anamorphic transfers. The latest edition features a 5.1 remix and a beautiful anamorphic transfer. Missing however is the famed audio commentary from Foster which was one of the earlier DVD's. Oneday we will get a DELUXE version hopefully.
